Just for fun....

Schmeichelt

Castagna

Fofana

Soyuncu

Justin...Thomas

Ndidi...Soumare

Tielemans.

KDH.

Maddison

Barnes...Lookman...

Vardy..Daka

Where is the Aging team...Plus I said reset/clean-slate...!!.

Great post this... I was going to write exactly this listing out what our best 11...15 is as things stand, but time didn't allow (not sure where Evans went: still not convinced either by Lookman's all round game or him actually joining & Nacho is still an enigma).

We were all pretty confident last summer after getting Soumare and Daka in to add to a team that was so close to 4th place 2 years running and had just captured the holy grail, so whats changed in a year?

All the things that are well documented already... Fofana's injury, Vardy & Evans injuries, 2 games most weeks and a problem with set pieces - but the core is still there (plus KDH's emergence), and once Fofana, Evans & Vardy came back, we stopped conceding and started scoring, which is sort of what you need to do to win football matches - and it got us back to top club in the midlands.

I'm all for fuchsntf's view... who needs a refresh? And with no European distractions & less World Cup distractions than many other clubs, we're in a pretty good place as it stands, so let's party like its 2021!

Bringing Praet and Iversen back in would take our squad size to 27 which is 2 more than we are allowed so we would need to lose 2 anyway. Iversen could potentially get loaned out again but then that means relying on a youth keeper if Kasper or Ward got injured. We realistically need to lose a few players like Soyuncu and refresh the squad a bit

Injuries happen to all the other teams as well. As does commitment to European matches. Even with Fofana and Evans back  we were still shipping the gaols in, so where you got that once they were back we stopped shipping in goals is a mystery , set pieces in particular. Soumare was an is a disaster . the jury is still out on Daka  and cags needs replacing. Vardy is in his last season and won't play every match. Lookman isn't good enough and if they can get someone better they won't be buying him. sorry but if we don't buy in some real quality we most certainly won't be " in a good place "

let those at the club do what they need to do and trust them to do right.

This is the Base of my thoughts in Stick or twist, because in the end many Sporting managers

are handed & have to make those type of descisions, every season...

This is either the busy, or Painfull, quizically ,confusing quiet period for many fans...or the calm before the Storm while waiting Business actions...

some have a Great week out on the Shark or blue-Merlin boat...or curious period to see if they have landed the pathological limp-squid or not.

Many fans Fall into the media-scammer reports, like those Innocent fallable pundits caught in the shell(ball) game of Transfer- or-not  merry-go-round.

They cant help themselves being drawn in, into wanting to see if they can actually chose the right shell...then try again, & again...

Wait, & trust, go in holiday,Enjoy family....Is  the clever choice..

I think you've missed the point of this thread... its to provide a positive and uplifting view to counter the doom-monger views elsewhere.

Although I appreciate its a knee-jerk reaction to have to respond to a positive post by regurgitating the clichéd list of negatives, its not always required:

Sometimes its OK to let the dreamers continue to dream...

And splittinging hairs...is your problem,......because the Base of my Choice is within young & peaking age.

Note I didnt mention Albrighton or Evans...because IMO they will be valuable assets used to the managers Discretion

Maybe if injury free, a Damn Good 1St Choice start in the First months...

No matter the end choices, We should Not forget how we  had a Mixed Configuration of,scamps, outlaws, fringe, unwanted travellers, who won us the league...

We like every Team outside the present Top 6-7 clubs,

cant think, follow any conventional method to aspire to a consistent Top 6 grouping,

any of us " also rans" have to use that out of the box, unelegant, unexpectant ,ideology thoughts....

Yours & many others demanding agreed, conventional patterns & basics, IMO wont get it done.

The lack of organized repeatative financiial clout puts a massive damper on those dreams...

Over the last few seasons you have accumalted Great posts, on how we have lacked on entertaining football,

I thought W.Ham & Wolves had touched far better on that area, than ourselves, but they too fell off, well before the EOS...

If we can get our present playing squad fit for longer periods, that 'any' manager can Build routine & rythme....

The Entertainment value, IMO will automatically follow...

If not, no matter if we stick, or Invest in so called better players,I will be the First to Jump in your  trench to demand,

no matter where we find ourselves in the league, an entertaining football  squad & group of players...

Without going too patronising....

The Present England cricket team have found in that entertaining Front a positive change of mind-Set & direction,

Rodgers does have it in his Blood to find & produce those players...

I'm thinking back to the season we won the Chanpionship and people literally lost their shit that we lined up first match with Drinkwater and Vardy. Both incidentally scored and didn't do too bad after.

I don't have a problem. I have an opinion as you do yourself. I was not splitting hairs at all. I was defending my stance that we have an aging side of top players and that we need to replace them with like for like quality if we are to maintain our top half aspirations. It's no where near as complicated as you are making it out to be. So I'll make it plain and simple. If we do not invest in replacing the likes of Vardy , Evans , Albrighton, Schmeichel. We will not be able to maintain our present standing in the Premier league. sticking with what we have got is not an option.

I was or am just twisting the Poster thoughts Running through FT, that we seem Not to be Chasing new blood, so threw down what is a controversial thought.

We all can see Aging Player will Need to be eventually replaced...

But I got an itch ,So I  asked in principal...with this Topic  " must it be now" & what if " media-favourites" to leave..... actually stayed!!!!

Too many squeaky bums panicking IMO....

I for one,Contra many on this sight would Welcome Tielemans,Maddison,Soyuncu,Castagna. Staying..

I’m fully on the optimism bus and anyone who refuses to ascend is a peacenik warmongering communist who should be driven out of the holy city of dreams and wonder to terminally dehydrate in the pitiful desert of disinterested rationality. I don’t watch football for reason or sense. I watch it recirculate repressed anger against arbitrarily decided and occasionally geographic rivals. We’re winning the league. It is decided.

Well yes of course I completely agree with you on the latter part. With those players we still have a very good team. My worry is that the likes of Evans, Vardy and Albrighton will be subject to frequent injuries during the season due to age. These three positions are vital and need replacing or we will find ourselves in the same position as last season of not being able to field our first eleven on a weekly basis.

IMHO these points are well taken…My topic gambit was just that Contra thought to what if there are no changes, how bad off are we „really“?
