A lot of if's there.

If we win every game then we'll win the league :D

2015/16  we nearly did...then we did..

I just put the certain ifs on the table,

that are reasonable..in comparison to chasing a superstar-saviour transfer..

Forgetting any historonics, or fan assumptions with Manager-player relationships…

clean-slate, 99% injury free, new season fresh ambitions & aspirations, would that whole Cabash, not be better than any incoming transfers, of unknowns where we can’t afford to throw out the cash…See 2-3 young academy investments make their marks from & through the earlier part of the season…

I mean why not…??,! Stick.

When one reads through this forum some actually believe we can spend & throw out ridiculous finances on some not yet known/proved player, because that’s what’s needed.

We had a chronic injury raffen, Rekindling-form-starved group of individuals error ridden type of team, where any manager would have had to squeeze rocks

to accomplish & find any type of Team-character & rythme..

Tielemans ,also often Maddison, regularly forced more on the Backfoot, and faraway from those areas that worry the opposition…

Any New additions are rarely quite on the ´The Team´ bus wave length…

In football anything & everything rides that IF cliff-Edge-Plateau…

IF we see Barnes find that consistency..

IF our Star-Backline ( whoever that maybe) can actually play 8-12 games together…

IF Tielemans,KDH,Maddison can find & keep that higher-platform of consistency & receive quality DM support.without worrying about OTT defensive duties

IF..Vardy can give us a 86% injury free self

If we can find a consistent successfull system, the covers even replaces Vardy..

If we can improve only 20% on attacking & defensive set plays ( I actually expect 60-70%)

Wouldnt that be even better than new 2-3 signings…..??

The mention of a rebuild from Rodgers puts this to bed

not much movement in the rebuild though is there, like fuchs said if we keep most of the squad and have a bit more luck with injuries it would not be that bad would it? ,also i dont think we have the money to splash out on players.

@fuchsntfI think your post has a lot of merit. Without European football, if we kept our current squad together for all 38 games without serious injuries we could easily push top 6/7. Arsenal and Spurs are better than us but with European football will struggle with consistency, West Ham have been good for a while now but aren't that far ahead of us. Newcastle I think are a wildcard because when they keep buying good players it's going to improve them a lot. But we are better than them as it stands.

That said, we know the team has become a bit stale. It's like being in a relationship where both parties are going through the motions but the spark has gone. For their own benefit, players like Soyucnu and Tielemans should probably go, and I feel like we haven't made a marquee signing in a while. Even last season, players like Daka and Soumare were squad options rather than first team players. The last marquee signing we made was probably Tielemans (maybe Fofana?) in that Youri was expected to come into the first team and be one of our best players. And for the FA Cup winning season, he was! I think what would really get the fans excited is someone like that, hence why the Charles De Ketelaere thread in the transfer section is so commented on.

Personally  I would be happy to keep players IF we put inplace a program to develope them.

Those who want out can go if their agents find a berth that meet our requirements.

It was Brendan who signposted a big rebuild.... imo he did so to deflect from his own poor performance

We have a top 6 team but probably a mid table squad. I know we was unlucky last season with it starting so bad with lil Wes. I just think we missed out with messing up 4th twice in years previous.

The money that we could have generated maybe wouldve helped to push us on rather than a once in a lifetime win. It couldve been more sustainable. Qualify for the champs league once could be said lucky but to then do it again then maybe players around europe dont think of us as that fairytale club. Just how i see it. But after witnessing the Pleat years, the Levein time, Holloway etc. The 50k  Leicester that was there at Huish Park on a sky monday night game.

I would not change a bloody thing.

We missed out on our 4th place finishes narrowly. I'm sure European football last season had a big part to play in the lacklustre football we saw at times, just due to fixture tempo and fatigue. Injuries certainly hamstrung us, if you'll allow the pun. Individual form will wax and wane.

Wouldn't 2-3 signings go a long way towards mitigating the 'ifs'?

I think the truth is somewhere jn between about Rogers infamous ‘major rebuild’ rant.

he was mad and venting and probably meant it in the moment but in reality he was kind of chastising a few select players. Maybe it’s his way of motivating/ lighting a fire under their bums?

we all know deep inside we can’t afford a major rebuild. Manu can but even they’ve struggled so far with their rebuild (and they really need it!)

Leicester need to refresh but In other ways. Maybe just a few new editions. The rest need to get fit and firing again. If offers don’t come for players who want out they have to ask themselves why? Have they not shown their worth? How can they change that? Look within themselves.

it’s simple - start performing for the club your at and they’ll get eyes on them.

IF we stick with what we have got we are in big trouble. No if's or buts about it. An aging team with a lot of players no longer at Premier league level. A defence even when full fit leaking goal after goal on set pieces and a manager who thinks it's ok to play tippy tippy possession football around and between the defence even when we are losing with the clock on 90 minutes. Anyone who thinks we could get away with this squad as it is must be on Glastonbury sherbets.

You really don't think the staff at the club are already doing their best to try to develop and maximise the playing staff's talent?

I expect some staff are trying....  but we dont have the focussed deliberate personal development programs in place.   If we did we would see the improvements.  I cant go into details without breaking confidences... but if you and I were pay their wages then I am sure we would both have  more effort put in.  This is not just and lcfc problem ... most clubs are the same.

With one to one focus and deliberate practice it is amazing what can be done... mit just strength, skills and fitness..m but decision making  and even concentration and attitude

Really good post this 👆

I'd add that with half the team in the treatment room for large parts of the season players espicially the likes of Soumare won't be getting the most out of training.

Daka's here to learn from Vardy and he hasn't got to train that much with him really.  Fofana / Evans not there to help Soyuncu's development etc etc.

This maybe a stretch but ever since Kingy left we've stopped scoring those  late run into the box from centre midfield goals.

Fair points, when we are on fire we are better than most teams bar Man City and Liverpool in the league.

The big question is whether we can get everyone on that sort of form at the same time again

Is that a deffo, I could have missed it, I'm well forgetful.

some noise about it in the papers and also from some of our ITKs. Enough for me to be sure it’s true.
