Thanks @coolhandfox. I thought I'd seen that Eppiah was off to Northampton? Another that won't make the grade (nor on high wages).

We can expect Wright & Hirst to find homes for the season. Assuming Eppiah has gone/goes. we're down to 28, of which Suengchitthawon won't be in the running for a place in the 25 (and won't be on high wages either), and one (at least) of the keepers will go too - so 26!

If I'm right so far, then from here to the end of the window we have to lose at least one more player than we sign...

I'd imagine we will see Jakub Stolarczyk and Inversen got on loan if Kasper stays.

I'd think we would have little trouble moving on Wright and Hirst on for a small fees or at worst on loan.

Eppiah isn't confirm but he will be off on loan and more then likely released on his return, Suengchitthawon I have no idea what we are going to do with him.

I thank there is a very good chance we move on Vestergaard and Praet.

I suppose whilst the young players don't earn much it all builds up, as a club we can't have 7 or 8 players drawing wages and contributing little.

I don't think we are broke by any means, but someone in the club has put there foot down and clear said no more ins until we get some outs.

I am wondering how we have ended up in such a muddle and mess in relation to the players´ contracts, salaries etc.?

Who is responsible and why do failures seem to have no consequences?

Long and expensive contracts - Rudkin?

8-10 contracts expiring simultaneously 2023 - Rudkin?

Abysmal defending set pieces - Touré and Stowell?

Prolongation of stadium expansion - ??

Not reaching Europe or CL - Rodgers + players (partly injury issues in 2021/22 but the 2 seasons prior to this was down to the players that now want out to get European football.......

Despite all the above I have seen no one being fired or any changes to the structure/organization of the club (apart from a new doc and at some point a new DF) if I´m not mistaken.

In other organizations failures of this magnitude would have had immediate consequences but we seem just to be ambling along.

I wonder if Top has taken "the eye of the ball" as we seem in a stalemate and the drive we had seems to have gone a bit.

Yours is the very necessary and comprehensive questionnaire which needed posing at this time.

I was going to post in the continuing thread of Brendan Rodgers, but your questions are global and don't assume this situation is the doing of one or a cadre of people. I believe this is about reputations and relationships - most significantly two - those of Rodgers and Top.

Rodgers is a canny operator. The debates will go on about his Liverpool sojourn, but Klopp has shown what could be achieved with the resources available at Anfield. Rodgers did not.

He went to Celtic and achieved what is expected at a club with only one rival in a league comparable to Norway or Greece. Leicester City gave him an escape route back to the Premier.

But I consider that this problematic situation began with the death of Vichai. We don't know what Top's ambitions were prior to the accident, but he certainly wasn't ready to take over at that point. Five years more of shadowing his dad, perhaps, yet this was never his project. What's more, KP had a global downturn in air travel to contend with.

I'm only conjecturing now, but here's a relatively young man left 'holding the baby' in a foreign culture with a successful father to emulate and fans and media with expectations that he do so. His manager manages to lift the final important trophy which has eluded us in our long history. The club has an excellent roster of players, yet they are not Rodgers players and we are weak in depth. Last summer (and this is where we are in the dark about the relationship between recruitment and management that came up with such a nonsensical outcome) the incoming players fail (to varying degrees) to supplement the existing squad.

Rodgers promises a rebuild and I surmise that Top chooses to stay with the devil he knows. But I would ask where the link between recruitment and management got severed. Were I manager of a successful Prem club I'd want to know who I was getting and why they were considered suitable. Were I the owner or Chair of the club I'd want to know why my squad was so weak in depth.

Now we appear to know that high salaries are a crucial part of the problem. Certain underperforming players have been given salaries incommensurate with their, as yet  unknown, potential. And players who have performed maybe envious or resentful of unearned recompense.

If no significant players arrive this summer and any one of our achieving players leave, then someone (or someones' ) head(s) need to roll. But Top, personally, has to act to stop the rot and take a lesson in decisiveness.

Whatever is going on, it's not optimising our position as a Premiership club and is eroding all that Vichai built.

Club took a gamble going the high wage route and I think they got caught out by the recent very significant rule change.

Strategy likely picked by the CEO and Chairman, individual contracts who knows.

However I think attacking the OP is wrong, end of the day people will praise the club hierarchy when things are going well, patting them on the back etc. if they can be praised then they can also be criticised.  No one has to agree with any criticism, but they shouldnt be trying to shame those who choose to have their own say.
