  1. 1. How much should we be demanding?

  • Everyone can see he's going to be a world class defender
  • We paid £30m to £35m
  • St Etienne have a sell on fee
  • Vestergaard and Amartey aren't good enough. Soyuncu is out of favour. Evans isn't reliably available for 30+ games. We already needed an additional CB this window anyway and we're not getting that.
  • The window closes in a week. We have hardly any time to find a replacement and may well have to overpay for one
  • We don't want to sell. We don't need to sell. Fofana signed a 5 year contract in March
  • Even if Chelsea sign him on a 4-5 year deal they can sell him to Real Madrid or Barcelona at his peak and get all their money back

All of that taken together and we'd be mad to accept anything less than £80m upfront cash and should be looking for a total package closer to £100m

£95m as we have to give a nice percentage to St Etienne for the sell on fee plus have enough to just about spend a bit before the window closes, but this is probably Chelsea’s plan last it out as long as possible so we don’t have time to replace Wes !

Isak was around £60m. He better be good. Daka was around £20m. You get what you pay for usually.

Daka was a cheap option last year

Who wants a reasonable fee?

Chelsea have not behaved reasonably, Fofana has not behaved reasonably.  I want an obscene fee.  The kind of fee that would make Chelsea shed bitter tears as they sign the cheque.

Not £75m

Maybe not but would you want him here now. The signs of his behaviour were there before we signed him. Taking the money now is probably the right thing to do at this stage and don’t look back.
