Copy the common sense model of Brighton which is dont buy anyone whos older then mid 20s so that all players have re sale value. Pick up older experienced players on frees who have played at the very top level to nurture the young lads. Basically buy young talented players, develop them then sell them for a big profit then repeat. Dont get tied down with deadwood like weve been fcked over with by Rodgers and his side kick Congerton signing Prem players who’re 28/29 years old. Run it like a business.

I think add into that - Don't be bullied by players and their agents demanding more money. You have to be prepared to let players leave and have confidence in your ability to replace players.

I think the route of our problems was down to the unwillingness to trade players because we were/are poor at recruitment.

I urge you all to listen to this from 1:49:30 https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m001pv76

It’s a really interesting interview on Five Live from last Saturday with Paul Barber, Brighton’s CEO, about their recruitment model and the responsibilities of the senior execs at the club.

The clarity with which he speaks (and that he speaks at all!) was startling and to me, given what I’m used to. And I found the division of labour particularly insightful.

After listening to it, how do you feel about the set up at the top of our club?

I understand we're annoyed at being relegated and we wish the transfer market was like championship manager 01 and we could just sell everybody that hasn't performed, but the reality of club ownership and management is rather more mundane. There's no point in speculating and getting het up over what is basically imaginary job roles and responsibilities.

If only.

Bakirckioglu and Selakovic would quickly sort the RW issue.

Maybe even Aghahowa if we could get him a work permit.

Bit more creativity and some set piece delivery from midfield?

Always a disappointment for me and more one-footed than KDH.

Cheap cover though, so why not!

It’s not about Rudkin vs Whelan though is it? It’s about the organisation making the changes and the necessary people being held accountable for overseeing the shitshow that was the last 2.5 seasons, and being blind to the reality of where we were actually at last year.

Some people won’t like to hear this, but being held accountable does not mean that people lose jobs. It can mean roles are changed, people added, process and governance added.

I don’t give a **** if Rudkin is here tomorrow, next season, or for ten years. What I care about is the organisation learning from these massive failures.
