Kettering should have been out of site.

Nearly robbed them on penalties..

Gutted .

Maybe so but after going 2 nil up after 3 we should have won that.

Grubby ground and grubby fanbase. Odd lot.

Hope Telford do them on Monday.

They have the cheek to laugh at our ground.

Looks like a year 7 student drew lines on the pitch.

Awful pitch, disgusting ground and a weird fanbase.

Worst of luck in the final to them 🤣

The play -offs never fail to disappoint !

From Twitter .

In the Southern Premier South, AFC Totton were 2-0 down at home to Dorchester going into added time, then they score in the 90th, 97th and 100th minutes only for Dorchester to immediately equalise with pretty much the last kick of the game. Then in extra time Totton win it two minutes from the end.

No less dramatic in the Isthmian Premier where you had Dartford conjuring up a 98th minute equaliser en route to coming back from 2-0 down to beat Cray Valley. And in the same league Dover came back from 1-0 down in extra time to knock out Billericay (who missed out on the title on goal difference by one goal) in the 119th minute.

Just reading about Sandro’s night. What a daft idea that all was in the end. Austin really messed up not starting Burgess, one of the few players at Harborough what is technically skilful and away from the ‘how do I say it’ agricultural football they largely play

That’s rubbish mate. If Sandro’s cross field ball (that noone else on the pitch could have played) had led to the goal it nearly created right at the it would have been dubbed a master stroke. Yes he took a terrible penalty but then so did 3 others and it’s a problem we’ve had all season.

And Burgess isn’t fit having got hurt at Redditch and was on crutches a week ago.

And we’ve  been playing decent football since change in style around Christmas.

Hope you had a great evening regardless of result, I keep meaning to go to Anstey for a game as I'm back in that neck of the woods quite regularly.  My Dad used to play for them in the 1970s and I had one outing for the Swifts in the 80s!  Possibly had my best ever game in central midfield.

Funnily I'm at Beaumont Leys tonight for the Speedway just touching distance from the Nomads

Looked a dramatic night all over the play-offs, it's a great event for the non-leagues and drives much needed revenue.

I've been very lucky to see Brackley in the play-offs for the past three seasons having 5 play off home games in that time, some huge crowds and lots of disappointment too.

They attract a lot of floating fans that wont be seen on a wet Tuesday night, but still great for the clubs.

Super article, sums up my feelings too.

The only downside for me was that after doing close on 20 Brackley games this season I was away for the final game of the season!

I see your photo in the article and I'm now more gutted to have missed it!

Ha, but not to worry going to non-league has reconnected lots of lost football fans in my small circle of family + friends

I can take my son on ad-hoc games (cant do it at Leicester very easily), my Dad joins us for 2-3 games a year, my brother-in-law came to a game and loved it so much he now goes to Radcliffe Boro every home game near his home after no football for 8 years, and most importantly a very good mate (he's a Spurs fan sadly) comes to 90% of the games with me so is my main stay for watching games.

Others have joined us too but didn't come back!

On the odd occasion I go on my own, only to bump into ex-work colleagues that we can share a drink with but I prefer to socialise so going on my own isn't my preference.

I never wanted to turn my back on Leicester but how they treated some long standing fans in the winter of 2021/22 will never be forgotten.

Boro couldn't quite do the double the season as we lost in the Midland Floodlight Cup final, losing 0-1 to Cradley Town. The only goal of the game from an error at the back which left sub goalie and usually striker Louis Baker playing in goal... (no sub goal on Boro bench) completely stunned. However fantastic atmosphere from the Boro faithful, who took an incredible 1,000+ following. Three coaches full travelling from Nuneaton. Our biggest away following in nearly a decade. I'm not sure of the attendance never was announced but I reckon 1,700 across the one stand that was open with 300 from Cradley.

I'm not sure Walsall FC were fully prepared for the evening, just 6 stewards in charge. Just 4 turnstilles open, 2 in each end even though one gate had a 1,000 plus go through. Food kiosk only open person serving a burger would take 10 minutes for each customer. Also pre-booked tickets went missing for many supporters who came to collect.

Despite the result been a great season and it was good evening out at EFL ground, nice to see so many from Nuneaton travel up.

Fair that’s your opinion. But I think Sandro has been a terrible waste of time and coverage gained from it would not be any more than the cup run did anyway

I’ll politely disagree on the playing style. Quite similar to Anstey in that regard. Decent budget but safety first football

Wondering how many times you have seen Harborough play? Not having a go here as it was certainly long ball at the start of the season but has evolved and I’ve seen very good football at times.

If Paul Malone had scored the 4th I think we’d have been thorough and there would be no chat about Sandro being a waste of time. And I’ve no doubt the publicity of him and the FA Cup run is why the Spanish media are involved and who knows what that will bring with a pre season to Barcelona and Madrid lined up following 100 supporters coming over a few weeks back. Sandro doesn’t even take any money. It’s been very enjoyable having him around, and that’s largely a plus point of non league.

6 or 7 this season, at home or away

Why would Spanish fans be bothered about a Brazilian football who’s never played in Spain? Club superbly spotted an opportunity with the Spanish podcast/vlog and have done well with it.

Either way, should be top five 5 for Harbs next season. I suspect Crypto Bedford will be cash crazy

Fair enough.

A poll on their media outlets selected which team to follow, it’s an outlet thats sole purpose is to follow English football so of course an ex prem league player would catch their eye and add to it.

Id hope for top 5 again with some fun along the way. Hopefully with a playoff home advantage as that’s massive.  It’s a very hard league to win and yes you’d think Bedford would be up there, they looked decent in this years pre season so they will only be better.

I've been going Harborough home and away all season, and as the OP said, post-Christmas we've largely played great football. There's a couple of exceptions, one being last night - we stank the place out.

How many games have you watched this season out of interest?

EDIT: Just saw your reply.

I don’t think it was a change in tactics last night, we just couldn’t seem to keep hold of the ball and would give it away cheaply. And when we did win back the abysmal ref would just blow up for a foul (not blaming him for the defeat but definitely one to go with the home crowd).

He missed a stonewall penalty down the home end, and there should have been a second yellow too. I did think he gave a few soft free kicks for Kettering, mind. I think this is just the inept standard at that level unfortunately.

Harborough also seemed to take issue with the referee on penalties being down the home end on Police advice, not sure what he could do about that.

My best mate who was Policing (I know) the game also said that the Harborough captain approached him and accused him of being biased - he's a Diamonds fan and under no circumstances wanted Kettering winning that lollol

Nice statement from Mitch Austin this morning though. Wish Harborough well, clearly developing as a club at a rapid rate. A very impressive season.

On the ground/pitch; nobody at Kettering wants to be at Latimer Park, so understand the comments - but when the council aren't willing to help accommodate the club, there's not much that can be done.

That said, it was some atmosphere down the home end (tin hat) throughout the whole game.

I hadn’t even known that had happened but can see why Harborough would have been unhappy with that. On police advice? That’s a new one on me. Should be a coin toss, not really sure police should be deciding who has the advantage, what did they think would happen?!

But both sides took some abysmal penalties and as Mitch said, we were second best anyway.

I think the comments are only made about the ground following many daft comments about ours.

We are ecstatic where we have got and superb to see so many packed in the away end to experience a huge playoff game infront of nearly 3000.

Not been to Harborough but looks a decent enough set up for that level to me. I have no knowledge of the club, but would imagine it's a starting point to bigger things as/when required.

Penalties at an end on Police advice happens quite often, particularly at lower levels.

There was a lot of trouble down in the corner by the turnstiles on Saturday (mainly caused by about 50-75 Banbury kids). The Police tried to make it a dead zone to avoid any such scenes, but if penalties had happened a lot would have piled down there and overwhelmed them.

Telford is going to be a whole different story on Monday given the trouble/"riots" between the two sides previously.
