We want a CB in, we already have Coady, Vestergaard, Faes and Okoli, we probably have to move on to bring one in.

I think they have realised Okoli is a little raw for the PL, but can probably still develop and needs game time, his not going to do that not playing.

Loans him out, then bring him back and another 6 months develop and reassess.

I think we will also see Faes and Coady leave in the summer.

We are on a total rebuild of that part of the squad.

It's been rancid for to long and need major surgery.

Yeah but you do two deals together don't you I guess. One in, one out. We'll let Hamza go if/when we've got the deal we want to do ready to go.

Was that not Coulibaly? Wr aren't in the market for a 5th choice DM replacement.

Can I ask who you think will sign Coady and match the salary we pay him.

Depend how much he's on, what he's desire is to play.

Judging from last 3 years don't think playing is his ultimate priority

Prime candidate to shake hands and let him go in the summer on a free.

I don't necessarily mean like for like, just squad spaces. If we don't actually have anyone lined up to buy, might as well keep Hamza around if the alternative is registering 24 players. He's versatile enough and his attitude seems pretty good, he's even been given the armband before.

I don't really think he's good enough even in the Championship but if I was Ruud I wouldn't hate having him about, he's got some actual fighting spirit which we're very short of and really need.

Him not being in the match day squad vs Fulham was an indicator this might have been close. We'll see what happens. I think we at the very least get one more in so we need one out.

Has all the hallmarks of a last minute loan with option to buy at the end of the season from an Italian club who of course won't then buy him.

Another waste of money.  Have we signed anyone permenantly who has made us better than last season?  Diabolical we should be weker than when we came back up at the end of last season.

We may as well write off the season.  We do not have a hope of surviving.

Possibly, there will be around 2.6m amortisation left from the transfer fee,  unless we apply any depreciation which could be possible if we are relegated.

We have a good opportunity to move players in the summer, Vestergaard has no book value so move on for any fee we could make a PSR profit.

Then we have Daka, Soumare and Winks who have 4.6m, 3.4m and 3.3m left on the books after this accounting period.

Interestingly we haven't made a contract offer to any of them, which would be an easy way of creating more PSR headroom.

Then you have JJ and Ricardo who have 900k and 1.7m left.

We could easily make some profit as we don't need crazy fees.

Add to that Ward, Iversen and Vardy being out of contract.

We can start cleaning house.

But the £2.6m will be accounted for from July 2025 for 2025/26 anyway, so agreeing for him to leave on a free in the summer makes us no worse off and we save the years wages (same as just loaning him out as well).

Agreed on the rest, hopefully really clear up and have a new strategy.

I highly doubt any of those want to extend and the club would be daft to do Soumare and Daka, frankly.

But anything < 5m is going to be enough for us to sell them this summer and not make a loss in-season even if they're crap from now til May.

Unless we can loan him out and get a fee to offset some of the 2.6m.

Was signed because having the same agency as Cooper.

Offered to the club when no scouting had occurred.

It's like Skipp. He was signed as Cooper had worked with him previously in the U16s.

We're clearing out Cooper's mess.

I can well believe you. So I'm guessing Bilal wasn't Cooper?

Sanctioning a transfer without a scouting report is criminal. Having managers pick players is such a short sighted system and leaves us in a mess when we get another manager.

The structure is clearly not working.

Bilal was the OH leuven dof after we'd failed in getting anyone else. We hadn't scouted him - none of that goes on.

I must have misunderstood amortisation – I was under the impression that amortisation for a player lasted the length of their original contract, and once that period of time is up, any profit would be pure 100% profit?

So for Justin, he allegedly cost around £6m in 2019 on a 5 year deal. So would that not be £1.2 million amortisation per year until 2024, then 100% profit thereafter?

Equally for Ricardo, around £20m in 2018 on a 5 year deal would be £4m amortisation until 2023, then 100% profit thereafter?

Eager to learn something new if I've completely misinterpreted it.

not quite, it's over the initial contract, however if you extend you then spread the remaining book value over the new contract length. So say we signed a player for 20m on a 5 year deal. after 3 years his book value is 8m. if we extend that contract by another two years his amortized value goes from 4m/year to 2m/year as that 8m is then spread over the 4 year contract.

And that explains why we are where we are with players.
