Fair play to this man. Speaks truth and doesn't mince words when it's needed. Leicester through and through.

Honestly surprised he hasn’t been blacklisted this season for not faking enthusiasm. Love him.

Throwing teenagers in against elite footballers is not the answer lol

They'd lose 14-0.

I think he’s referring to the players being chased by bigger clubs, much like the lad we lost to Liverpool last season who’s now starting games for them. Not the entire youth team pal.

Dibbling at Southampton. Nwaneri at Arsenal.

Really? The guy was defending rudkin and the board, wouldn't sack anyone. So how does he expect change to happen? They all need to feck off.... We don't want them anymore, none of them. Whelan, rudkin, top.... Time to leave the party.... Anyone who dances around that fact, they are like ruud, just sticking with the same ideas and hope all will be well.

Rudkin helped him out massively when Pipes was reaching breaking point with his drinking.

He's not going to call for him to be sacked because that would be crossing a personal line for him, which I can respect.

If you listen to the WYS podcast (should be released today) it will have his actual words post-match, he was as critical as he can be short of that line, and you could tell he had strong emotions on that point.

I remember being in a relegation battle in the old division 2 under Jock Wallace, with an ageing poor squad assembled by the disaster that was Frank McClintock. Then New year's day he throws in 16 year old Dave Buchanon, 17 year old Gary Lineker  and the following game 17 year old Andy Peake. He kept the likes of Eddie Kelly in the team, who thrived in the responsibility of helping the kids, and we stayed up. Then was promoted the following season with a very young team. I wouldn't expect us to stop up by throwing 2 or 3 of the kids into this team, but I honestly don't think they could do any worse, and it would be giving them some first team experience for next season, because right now the club is full of players who don't care, and the club is losing the fans to total apathy.

I remember that 1978 / 79 season - that was my 1st season in going to down to watch us.

The difference is Jock was a proper football manager.

Ruud would be a 3rd or 4th choice pundit.

no way this lacklustre team would survive with Jock at the helm

He would have lost the dressing room within weeks, the results would have been terrible and he’d have been sacked. It’s a different world now: player power has eclipsed manager power. No way our current squad would accept being told to run up and down sand hills.

Blimey I independently said more or less the same as your goodself.

Those days with Jock were full of passion - the 79 / 80 season is still one of my favourites when we won the league and there were stories of Jock pinning players up against the dressing room wall at half time - Cambridge away 1 - 1 early doors was one I remember.

I first went down to see Leicester in 1979-80 season - my uncles on my mums side took me and they always used to say at least you know with Jock he would give the players both barrels if the weren't playing well first half and would always improve second half due to being bollocked

everything is too soft and easy for these pampered primadonnas now

He would give them both barrels when they were doing well, just to keep their standards up.

Which is whats wrong with the players of today, and in particular our over pampered squad of players.

You have to laugh at one of Lineker's recollections involving a midweek reserve game. He stormed into the changing room at half time picked him up by the scruff of the neck and pinned him against the wall snarling, "you lazy, wee English s*****." And that was at 2-1 up having scored both the goals!

if you don't change any of the people in charge what sort of change is it? Piper just said he wanted to add something to what already exists.... Who's going to decide that? Oh the same people that have mucked up most other decisions these last few years.

I get why Piper may have sentiments, but to suggest we don't change any of them is wrong. They are the ones that need to go!

I mean, Rob Tanner has said essentially the same thing as Pipes: that after Vichai died, nobody was added to the board. Top's eye cannot be on the football club as much as it was before because he's got an empire to run. It follows that this has also meant more power in Rudkin's hands. Adding a strong football brain to the board may well be a good move.

Add to that the fact that both are journalists who rely on the goodwill of the club for access, on top of the personal connection I mentioned before, and it's not hard to see why Pipes has stopped short of calling for heads to roll.

What I'd give to see Faes forced to run up the gravel pits in Wanlip for hours.
