At least some of the international community sees that influence and its consequences on innocent people, so unfortunately they cannot and should not be ignored.

I must be some sort of weird conservative, as I can’t get my head around half of what is going on at the moment and why the likes of Israel are spewing hypocrisy about the Falklands / UK etc ….

Canadians are rightly proud of their Prime Minister, Mark Carney, and his stance with Trump.

 

Equally, I'm pleased that our government have taken the stance it has with Israel.

It’s coming to something, when I think Kim Jong Un might about to fall out of the “Worlds Worst National Figurehead”, when you have Putin, Trump, JinPing, Luckashenko, Whoever is currently running the Taliban, Afwerki, Hlaing and the Venezuelan fella Trump has locked up somewhere.

 

Throw in whoever controls Iran, as the impact of that impacts my working life on an almost daily basis, then the bloke might actually start to be seen in a better light internationally soon.

To give an answer, 2028, but the midterms in November this year could allow the Dems to control both houses of Congress and make Trump at least something of a lame duck for the last two years of his tenure. 

 

Edit: they may also get enough in the House of Representatives to impeach him again, but almost certainly not enough in the Senate to guarantee a conviction.

Who do you think will run in 2028 for the Dems? I like Ossoff and Buttigieg (and obviously AOC) but I’m scared they’ll just play it safe with Newsom or God forbid Kamala might get another run.

if the republicans go with Rubio then (assuming nothing more crazy than we’ve seen past two years happens) I reckon he’s a shoe in. 
if they choose Vance then I think the democrats just need to find someone who doesn’t pee off either wing of the party, looks nice and can communicate effectively to do the same.

Im inclined to agree with Scaramucci who’s said Trump is so narcissistic he wants the Republicans to lose the next election so he can say their success was all about him. He’s constantly throwing that pair under the bus so I’d be surprised if either of them get an endorsement as the donors and backers of the GOP have had their pockets so nicely lined by Trump they’ll continue to do what he says even when he’s inevitably going to be a lame duck after the mid terms.

Dems - no idea, that one is still wildly up in the air. I wouldn't have minded Booker having another go, but that seems unlikely at the moment. 

 

Repubs - think it will be Vance even though Rubio will likely challenge him.

I'm curious to hear the reason why Rubio would stand that much more of a chance than Vance when they're near equally tainted in the eyes of swing voters by their close association with Felon#47?

 

Rubio's brand of sociopathy is just a little more subdued but it's reasonably obviously there.

You're right about the ego still having massive influence over the party direction and that's not going away any time soon.

 

I fear that only death or a comprehensive criminal conviction will help there.

As you say, it’s the swing voters who will decide and I think unless the dems have a candidate that really appeals to those who voted trump last time, Rubio is way more likely than Vance to take that centre ground vote.   if it’s Vance or Rubio  against an ‘ok at best’  Democrat then the swing voters are more likely to support Rubio who sounds more intelligent and reasonable than Vance.  I think an ‘ok at best’ dem will take a big chunk of the swing votes than Vance. 

 

Just my opinion

I honestly don't see that much of a chasm between Rubio and Vance in terms of electability among swing voters (does he really sound that reasonable when he talks about the UK and Denmark, for instance?), but fair enough.

 

Agree that Vance will in all likelihood be the nomination anyway.

I don't know either very well but I just think once they're free of fawning Trump they'll be some subtle changes to their political aims as neither were his greatest fans in fact didn't they actually despise him back in his previous Presidency.

Seen a few clips of him talking about 9/11 but that’s expected considering the anniversary.

The issue with that will then be the cult of personality surrounding Felon#47 that so many people have unfortunately bought into over there, and they won't tolerate even those subtle changes.
