Do you have any idea how ridiculous you sound? Me allowing a manager more than two competitive games to implement his methods somehow means that I don't have standards?

By the way, I'm completely aware of our situation. It's just obscene to be talking about sacking a manager after two competitive games when the squad still needs significant work.

And the irony of talking about the lack of finances and transfers. Overpaid players putting us in the shit, yet on the other hand let’s terminate the manager and all his staff and pay them all off

I get it, but I think saying 'play Burns there' as just throwing poo at the wall. I strongly doubt anything would have come of it and i think it makes sense to play Burns in his strongest position, otherwise its square pegs in round holes all over the pitch. Martin had to make a decision and stick to it.

On reflection (and calming down a little), and i hate saying this, i think with what Martin has available, playing Bobby was the right call, but CANNOT be moving forward.  Bobby got on the end of 3 chances, and arguably should have converted 1 of them. BUT, we've seen even the best (even Vardy) miss these sorts of chances over the years, so just because Bobby does I probably shouldn't be throwing my toys out of the pram - yet. In those 3 scenarios Bobby was in the right position, and Bobby was able to provide the link up play (average at it mind you) that i know Russell wants.  Not saying he was any good mind you, just that he performed the role asked of him.

Think (rightly or wrongly) Russell wants to keep the overall shape and style he wants with what he has available, which after game 1 is fair. Bobby will get swapped and become 2nd choice, and i am sure we see Souttar and Okoli replace (pleeeaaassee!).

I don’t disagree, and you raise a good argument. Is it just trying to put square pegs in round holes with Cullen and BDR? It does make sense, as it’s clear he wants his striker to be more involved, rather than an out and out 9…. But this just won’t work….. it might work with Chaplin and Cullen? But I’m not convinced Cullen will work at all, he looks like a real bizarre signing……

Perhaps things will settle when Bristric is up to speed or we sign another striker? But like you say, Cullen and BDR can’t be answer. We need to scrape through getting points on the board until things click, but my fear is they won’t…

Did his methods work at Southampton? Did they work at Rangers? No.

Has he rocked up here with the same ideas as his previous 2 failures, yes. Are the team still playing in a way that has seen us slide to two back to back relegations? Yes.

I’d have far more patience if we were unlucky in those performances but we were actually lucky, we are still creating very little, we are still defending clumsily and poorly and we are still stuck with a group of players that have 0 mental fortitude. We need to hit the ground running otherwise we wont be able to arrest the slide. Early signs are not good.

Each manager in isolation how many have gone on to better things or even similar level of club? (Excluding Enzo and he was poached)

I think this tells us it’s more about the appointment rather than a rash decision to pump the majority and not extend some

I don't disagree.

But show me a club that has been successful swapping managers every 6 months.

Would be have done any worse keep Cooper or Marti for the whole season?

O'Neill won 3 of his first 16 games as manager, in the current climate he would have been sacked.

I don’t think we should sack him at the moment, but 10 games is a fair assessment play off places at a minimum, he needs a convincing home win early doors otherwise the crowd will turn and put more pressure on everyone involved.

You’re not wrong but its also extremely obvious to everyone besides those in charge of the club that this wasnt the right appointment for where we are as a club right now. We needed a pragmatic manager that can get the best out of what hes got on an low budget. Instead we’ve gotten a manager that isnt a motivator, is only interested in playing one way and is already making excuses in interviews about needing ‘experience’ despite our best players being young academy products.

We keep getting forced into these decisions because the wrong appointments are made.

Even if we get back to back promoted, who wants Russel Martin in the prem?

There isn't any longevity with him in charge.

We're well off this being an issue. He's got 3 years to get us back to being a mid to playoff challenging Championship club. That would be a successful 3-year stint.

With this in mind, do you think it's probably a little counter productive for people to already boo and be turning on him after we've not yet lost a game having played just the 2? If after 10 games we're in the same position in the league that we are right now, sure, boo to your hearts content. It won't necessarily help anything, but at least there'd be some slightly valid reasoning for doing so and aiming it in his direction. At the moment people are either misdirecting their irritation or they just don't like him and don't want him to succeed, which by proxy also means they don't want Leicester to succeed as he's currently our manager.

The reality is that if he somehow pulled this off he would deserve a crack at the prem and would have unanimous support.

it’s a totally different era in football, that was just a few years after the inception of the PL.

Basically this club can’t afford to languish in the division for more than a season and I’m sure we will see him pumped if he underperforms and the owners roll the dice, don’t forget that also makes us a more attractive proposal to potential buyers. A club on the way out of the division.

I don’t think you need to worry about the prem for a very VERY long time. The way things are at the moment, I wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t ever get back there.

But you expect them to appointment better the next time?

I just don't see the point until the owner chnages.

100%

But people calling him to be sacked after 1 league game and 1 cup games is ridiculous.

And they expect them to make a better appointment with their track record.

For me is see where we are after 10 games.

Of course i dont and i agree about the owners.

But a combination of failures in his last few jobs and the position the club is in the onus is on Russell Martin to prove himself to us. We dont have time to be patient and he needs to be held to an almost impossible standard because the future of the club depends on it.

It might be a little unfair but it is also the reality he finds himself in.

Theres no point changing the manager until the club is sold ultimately. Top wont be looking to splurge more money on a good manager. Martin is the level we can afford, and whilst shit, there's no point swapping him for similar shit.

If we get owners willing to spend, then the rebuild has to start with a good level manager.

We are in a worse place now than when they bought us (literally the lowest position in our history)

But we won the Premier League, FA Cup, had multiple European tours… that would not have happened unless King Power came in?! Please prove me wrong.

Lowest position… after one game! After the next game we could move up and start the positive journey. I don’t disagree on the drop, the finances and the mismanagement of the club. But we have got rid of some of the deadwood, and high earners, brought in very capable players for the division (with a few more needed) and a appointed a manager that needs to be given time. We needn’t be so emotional after two fixtures where we’ve won and drew, regardless of the opponents.

Any way, let’s support Russ and the team, and with more time, the results come in.

100%

We need to get off to a flyer, anything less than 2 pts a game isn't good enough, and he should be held to that.

But in the away I felt it got to toxic, especially not very help for the likes of JJ, Alves and Braybrooke.

Can you blame the fans really? We’ve just seen the same flat performance with the same silly mistakes for the 70th game in a row. Each passing year the opposition gets worse but we dont seem to improve.

It may not help these young lads but on the flip side if they cannot handle the expectation of performing against League One opposition then they will never make it as high level

footballers.

A lot of the comments feel knee jerk but are mostly due to Martin arriving with a ton of baggage already.  They're opinions formed over a long period of time, just not with us. Same happened with Cooper. It will be an uphill battle for him to turn fans around, and even if he gets the wins I fear the style will prevent him getting in people's good books.

The biggest issue for me, is I think you can clearly see fundamental problems with the way we are playing. It’s not like we dominated absolutely peppering them, creating lots of chances and just the early season rust prevented us from winning the game.

Notts were probably the better team, and deserved the point and maybe more…. We looked as clueless and ineffective as we did last season. It was a manager playing in a style that doesn’t suit the players he has, in my opinion.!

If he gets the results and people still don't take to him or the style he's implemented then that's their problem and on them, not him. Thus far in the short period of time he's been here he's done very little wrong, and certainly not enough wrong to warrant the reaction of some of our brain-deads.

He's not really done anything to engender a positive feeling towards him either.

On the flip-side, what has he done to earn a negative feeling towards him in his short time here?
