Angus Scott Posted 17 August Posted 17 August I dread to think how many goals we will give away this season if saturday's goalie, defence & holding midfielder are continually selected. Opponents will be licking their lips

I would say this season was the time for that, and taking on Martin has all but guaranteed it won’t happen. This isn’t even taking into account Top and Rudkins room-reading ability. We now have evidence it may not work with this squad in this league either, and no evidence it will. 0.7xG I think it was. The heat map tells the story very well. I don’t think there is enough room for movement in the squad or the managers ability to make this system work this season. And, if it doesn’t, we may well go into administration and sink even lower. There was a chance to admit defeat and do a proper reset, and it wasn’t taken. So, I totally understand why people booed. I actually don’t think getting rid of Martin is the right thing, it’s simultaneously too early and too late on the manager front. But I fully believe we have started seeing the outcome of KPs latest mistake. It was inevitable that King Power were going to keep on King Powering the minute that Rudkin got his promotion when he should have been sacked. Whilst that absolute halfwit remains in a position of power, nothing will improve. By all means get on the board and Rudkins back, but its clearly not helpful to boo the players, playing a style that the club has asked them to play. There are exceptions like Thomas, BDCR, Skip, Okoli who are just dogshit. 1
BlueBus Posted 17 August Posted 17 August I don't dislike Russell Martin for his football, I just don't think there's any evidence that he's good at winning football games. I appreciate he got Southampton promoted but getting a team who'd been in the Premier League for 10 years prior to 4th place in the Championship isn't exactly the achievement of the century? No one thinks Roy Keane is a good football manager and his achievements are basically exactly the same as RM's. 3

We are in League One. I dont know how this doesnt compute with some people. Its about time these players, the manager and whoever else is held accountable and held to some standards. Your only argument back is some misguided sense of loyalty or honour. We dont have time for that now. We tried it your way for 2 seasons and look where we are now its time to put the pressure on and hold them accountable. 3 1

The future of the club is at stake, we dont have time to be patient, if performances and results need to improve then they need to know about it asap. For far too long the players and managers have had a free and easy ride from the fans. The only argument people have back is a misguided sense of moral superiority. We arent in the Premier League now chaps, you thinking that you are better and loyal fans than anyone else isnt going to move the club up the leagues or get us out of financial disaster. At least showing disgruntlement at unacceptable performances might move the needle. Edit - the clown laugh reacting to every post proves my point. More concerned with inflating his sense of superiority rather than whats happening on the pitch or in the board room. Edited 17 August by Dames 1 1

The truth is as a fanbase we deserve this, we are one of the worst in the country. No other club would have accepted whats happened to this club as readily as Leicester fans have. Even the ones that dont accept it have to curtail any protests because they are worried about alienating too many fans. 2 1

This is one of the most expensive and well paid squads in our history and they've taken us to our lowest point in 142 years of football. I'm increasingly doubtful this team could lay a glove on Leveins side. Booing is the very least they deserve 2

I refer you back to my initial statement..... its game 1 in a 46 game season, I think its crazily premature to have made the decision that we are sh*t, we are not getting promoted, and all the other senseless predictions that the doom and gloom merchants have been throwing around (we already have a 'Martin Out' thread for crying out loud). For what it's worth i saw some promising and encouraging signs from Saturday, but those with pre-defined views would struggle to see them. Sort of 'reverse blue-rimmed glasses' so to speak. Good chat though and I fully respect yours and others views. 3

The other 90% have happily let this happen to the club and even fought their own to ensure the status quo remains. The clock doesnt reset this time around, we are in huge trouble. We dont have time to be patient or ‘back the lads’. They had that and wasted it. There was nothing in that performance to suggest things have improved or are going to improve, same story we’d seen 84 times prior. 1 1

I'd give the squad at least a couple of months to show they can offer more than the shower before them. To be honest I don't see what booing really does other than demotivate the players and encourage the young talents to push for exits before the season begins proper. The club is up for sale and the manager has only been in the job five mins, not like either need to pressured. 2

We all have choices in life and it sounds like you may have made your choice/decision already. Lets hope they can change the doubters minds this season and, with the injection of some very promising young lads who are clearly hungry to impress this season, I personally think they will. All the best.
MGLCFC Posted 17 August Posted 17 August Dictionary definition of a football supporter A supporter, in the football sense, is someone who actively follows, encourages, and identifies with a particular football team. The key idea is emotional and ongoing commitment — not just casual interest. Doesn't seem to mention booing? Yes, you pay your money and have a right to express your views in whatever way you feel fit, but I'm not sure how booing, particularly the first game of the season with virtually a new team, containing numerous ex academy players is helpful.

I think the truth is a lot more depressing, the fans have literally no say in the performances on and off the pitch, so whether you're booing or cheering, it doesn't make a difference. The entire stadium chants for Rudkin out every week and he's still here, 90% of fans were very vocal about not wanting Martin coming to the club, he's still here. Boo or cheer all you like in my opinion but don't try and have a go at other fans like what you're doing is making any difference whatsoever, if anything, all you're doing is making the match day experience worse for all around you. 1

I’m not having a go at anyone else. I’ve explained why i think being negatively vocal is acceptable considering the circumstances and i’ve been called all sorts of names. Support for 90 mins but at the end of 90 mins if its not good enough then its not the heinous crime others are making it out to be to boo and show dissatisfaction. 21 minutes ago, Phild said: Ok then walk away from LCFC and don't 'back the lads'. Imagine being Louis Page and weighing up moving to the Utd B team and barely playing Vs staying at a club where your own fans give you shite constantly even when the season is a game old and the squad not finished. I've not got a problem if two months in and we are mid table then calling for a change but I think you've got to give the new squad a bit of time to gel and show they want to be here. Hopefully a few more of last season's squad are moved on as well. 1

Its a straight choice between Freefall League One Leicester City or Resurgent Premier League/Champions League Manchester United. Its a very easy decision as much as we dont want it to be. The excuses should stop being made, players should be able to handle booing, this attitude of treating them with kids gloves is nonsense. People aren't emotionless. If your customers heckled, swore and booed you every time you presented your work to them you'd feel demotivated pretty swiftly. In theory the amount of money they are being paid should soften the blow but let's be realistic that's not how it is. It's two bad seasons for us but for the youngsters who are getting their first shot and the new signings it's game one.
