Esteban Cambiasso. We wouldn't have won the league if it wasn't for him because we would have been relegated. He was a coach and a brilliant player all in one. 

 

Has to be a big mention to Tony Cottee though who was excellent under O'Neill, too scorer twice I think and massive contributions to getting to two league Cup finals.

Laurie Cunningham was still a good player when he joined us, but was unfortunately hit by injury and didn't play many games.

Peter Weir was a classy winger (I thought) who was close to 30 when he signed for us.

Sorry but I still think we'd have gone down if it wasn't for Huth. He was more influential than Cambiasso. We probably spent 90% of the season bottom of the league while Cambiasso was here. Huth joined at the start of February and we only lost a further 5 games from that date.

I suspect his standards were contagious and lived on long after he'd moved on.

 

What a signing he was. Like if Coventry signed Thomas Muller this season.
