My concern is there doesn't feel like there is much for the buyer to work with and my hunch is that KP will want a cash deal and to get out, and if buyers know that they are never going to meet high valuations.  We are loaned up to the bollocks with future tv money used as equity, so we know under PSR etc someone cant come in and just flash the cash.  If the buyer wants to do an earn out style tiered deal (i.e value us at the £140m based on getting back to the PL in x years) then the current management team will have to be involved to try and meet that, which none of us really want. Anyone suggesting a valuation be based on future earnings really needs to understand that the buyer de-risks that approach as much as possible and puts all the pressure on the seller.  I don't really see how any deal would make sense as things stand. Of course, go straight back up, and have our academy a fundamental part of that and look strong in the Championship, the potential upside looks very different.

But football is weird. We know owners use them as vanity projects or sports washing exercises. Maybe a buyer sees huge commercial opportunities not being exploited. Who knows, but my hunch is that nothing major will happen unless we look head and shoulders above everyone else in L1 by a significant margin. Start the season even 'average', and i think your prediction looks sound.

Pointed out to me yesterday the land that club owes which is actually the most sought after isn’t Seagrave or Belvoir Drive or the stadium plot.

The land that was bought for the stadium expansion is far more sought after. Easy to get housing lined up for that, fewer obstacles, fewer development issues. That will retain a value that the other assets can’t

Granted 'When your Smiling' isn't a fast paced, or upbeat song, but what club anthems are? You don't hear Old Trafford singing 'Happy' or Stamford Bridge singing 'Hey Ya'

I sing it before the game, not because I much like the song (definitely not in my playlists), but because it does resonate to me in a way of, its some form of closer connection to my club.

We adopted it as our anthem in the 1980's, so there's abit of history there too with the terraces singing it. IMO 'You'll never walk alone is a garbage song', and you can't tell me that's inspiring and upbeat. But Celtic and Liverpool belt it with pride (albeit Liverpool are silent for the rest of the 90) and apparently inspires the players and generates the atmosphere?

Maybe due to the last few seasons, people feel less likely to sing it as there is disconnection between club and fanbase, and the downturn in our fortunes. But literally why not sing along to it? If it got replaced by an upbeat song, would you sing along to that? Unlikely.

Much rather 'When Your Smiling', than 'Hey Jude', or 'Uptown Funk', which has nothing to do with the club at all.

I remember it being sung (no PA required) in the early 1970's. Legend has it that it started in the 60's.

The Angel or whatever it’s called is an absolute dirge but Arsenal fans belt it out like their lives depend on it. WYS isn’t the best and the version we use is a bit shite but it’s our shite and I agree, we should all sing it. I’ve never felt as disconnected from the club as I am at the moment but I still get stirred up when we sing WYS.

Irrespective of whether you like it or not it's only played before KO.

So there's nothing stopping fans adopting another more upbeat song that can be sung during the game when it's likely to have some affect on what's happening on the pitch.  Trouble is we have so few starters of original songs most are just variants of 'club' songs sung by other fans. I'm sure there were loads more original ideas/adaptations in the 60/70/80s.  Maybe it's because there seems to be no anther like songs making the charts these days to adapt.

What we need is a foot stomping, hand clapping, clapper wacking (your choice) song that everyone can join in with.

Maybe it needs Union FS and The FT to get together and have a brainstorm to come up with some ideas the club can still keep WYS for the players entry as they probably wouldn't want to change that.

I like this and agree this version of when your smiling is like starting the funeral. Are there enough to promote this so it can be raised through the Fans Consultative Committee happy to champion but others will need to come up with the ideas to help.

If you changed the location to leicester and it was written by Kasabian i’m sure it would be the same story here

These streets are our own
And my heart will leave you never
My blood will forever

It's way more than 140 mil. Was chatting with someone close to the club who balked at the figure. Was offered 450 mil for it sometime ago and turned it down. That's the figure to work back from taking league status/debt etc in to the mix.

Even from the early 70's when my Dad starting taking me, I can remember most football songs being generic. For example, everyone sung YNWA with scarves up especially after scoring.

I can't recall any others singing WYS or having the PHG.

Well yeah, it’s only a dirge to me personally because I have no connection whatsoever to Arsenal but appreciate it means something to Arse fans.

Noone in the US gives a f*ck about who Wrexham are! But lots of people ive spoken to over there know the Leicester story. That made up valuation for Wrexham smells like nonsense to me.

I never said they did, or that that matters. I said the Wrexham owners have built a huge brand with commercial value—mainly driven by insane US sponsorship like United Airlines and now Firefox—and that increases their club's valuation because potential investors would see that as indicative of a strong commercial element of the business. They would believe they can make money out of it, or at least create revenue streams.

Like it or not, we the fans are the only ones that actually care about our history in terms of our "value". It's window dressing on our valuation for investors. It shouldn't be, but the club were ****ing appalling at capitalising on it, as we all know. Now it's just history to a lot of people, sadly.

It is if you take 50 percent of their value, anyway you’re right we are much more similar to a club that was in administration and failed to pay staff and players, not been in the Premier league for 26 years and spent much of that time at the bottom half of the championship or league one.

Let’s just quietly ignore our 9 straight years in the top flight, FA cup win, League win, champions league season and one of the best training grounds.
As a club we have the 13th longest duration in the top flight since its inception as the Premier league.

£20m it is

Hey, I also don't agree with the valuation, but what I was trying to articulate was that I can understand why Wrexham would be valued much higher at this moment in time.

All those things you mention are absolutely valid and valuable to us as fans. But they are not going to be any more than window dressing to a prospective investor or owner. They might see the story, the potential, but there is no divine right for us to be in the upper echelons of English football because of our recent success. And we know throwing money at it doesn't equal success. Plenty of sides have fallen out of the top division and not recovered. Sheffield Wednesday are an example of that. And we are far closer to administration (like Wednesday) than a club like Wrexham are. That takes a huge toll on the valuation.
