Bassett is in temporary charge.

I hope the keyword here is temporary. :w00t: ;)

At the end of the day, we needed a change big time! Now if the board are foolish enough to appoint Bassett or Cork full-time then they will face a similar scenario with the fans in a few games/months time. I think the whole goings on at the club has been wrong for a long time and I just can't see how Bassett and Cork can take this club forward as it's stagnant and needs a fresh face with fresh ideas and to give a buzz about the place.

Can Bassett and Cork do that? If they can then fair enough, but I have my doubts.

Cheers for the work you've done Micky, where ever he goes to next I'm sure he'll do a great job. It will be interesting to see who we can attract as a new manager and see if results start going our way.

OS confirm it:

Foxes Reluctantly Accept Adams' Resignation

Leicester City today reluctantly accepted the resignation of manager Micky Adams.

Adams' resignation was accepted at an emergency meeting of the board of directors at the Walkers Stadium this morning.

Director of Football Dave Bassett has been placed in temporary charge of team affairs as caretaker manager.

Chief Executive Tim Davies said: "This is a very sad day for Leicester City Football Club.

"Everyone connected with the club wanted Micky to stay and we did our utmost to try to persuade him to change his mind.

"However, we have now accepted that Micky's decision is final.  We would like to place on record our sincere appreciation for the tremendous commitment, passion and success Micky has brought to the club.

"He has been manager during arguably the most difficult period in the club's modern history and his achievement in steering the club to promotion in the season in which the club went into administration is a truly remarkable feat."

A press conference has been called to outline the day's events to the media at 12 noon at the Walkers Stadium. In attendance with be Mr Davies, Mr Adams and Chief Operating Officer Paul Mace.

I feel really sad for some reason, perhaps it's guilt. There was a time, not so long ago when I worshipped Micky Adams and even said he was a 'legend' and a 'hero'. I am upset things have come to this and it hasn't worked out, I mean Taylor deserved what he got and he left under dubious circumstances too. I don't want Adams thinking us fans absolutely hated him, at the end of the day it was purely business, purely football and he had lost the plot.

All the best Michael, your a proud man and that might well have been the problem.

To my way of thinking the worst case scenario would be to appoint someone from the current "backroom staff". We need fresh blood.  :)  <_<

Exactly. The fans need to see somebody new in who isn't connected to the mess we are in. And I'm sure the players need a new face to give them new ideas. The players should all be at square 1 in terms of their place in the team - everybody should start from scratch and be working hard to earn their place in the team. Unfortunately with Bassett in charge this won't be the case. But I hope he does turn things around quickly and won't stick players in the team based on their reputations.

Firstly I want to thank Micky for all the good he has brought to this club, I'm very grateful for alot that he has done and he will always be looked on foundly by me.

I'm not suprised he has quit, before the La Managa incident I thought he wasn't a quitter but during that time he nearly quit...since then I knew he would resign if it got tough. I'm glad he has quit before us fans began to hate him (some already do but that is wrong).

Micky had lost the players and the plot at Leicester, since last season Micky has managed this club poorly (except during La Manga) and he has paid the price for that. At the end of the day we are in a worse position now then what we were when Micky first took over, speaks a lot I think.

Bassett is in temporary charge so I take it that Cork has gone aswell, if Bassett gets it full time I will cry tears of despair! I was thinking last night that appointing Bobby Robson as manager and a good young manager as his assitant to take over in a couple of years time would be a good play, the players would play their hearts out for Sir Bobby and thats what we have lacked.

You have to respect Micky for facing up to it all and having a press conference at 12, will be interesting to hear what he says.

It's alot different to Taylor in many respects. At least Micky achieved something at this football club, and I'll be ever thankful for that. He guided us to promotion through one of the most difficult times for the club.

He is a decent bloke, but his stubborness did cost him in the end. Fans didn't like his deicisions, he said he wanted to take responsibility - But then be became defensive with fans and the media when questioned....

I wish him the best.

I felt guilty when Taylor left!

I feel sorry for Micky but he has brought this on himself.

It's sad but it's football.

Ditto your sentiments...feeling guilt. Even though I never booed the man...Guilt, ouch!

I hope your all ****ing happy! Dave Bassett until end of season.

That's bollocks! Bassett will be lucky if he gets a month, trust me.

I don't understand this sense of guilt that some seem to be feeling. Many of us wanted to see a change of management and this is exactly what we got.

I think by resigning Adams has admitted himself that he was no longer up to the task.

Adams has a style that is better suited to the lower leagues and perhaps the reality of the situation is that he is not up to the job. ;)

What's quite worrying is how much the board pleaded with Adams to stay. It just shows that Micky was probably a good 10-15 games of straight losses away before the board would do anything, thankgod the fans took action.

Sack the board

I can't believe Bryan Robson been linked(its on planetfootball by the way).

Of course he will be, he's an easy target. I wouldn't worry too much, he won't get it.

well relief and possible depair is what im feeling at the min.

Relief - He had to go IF we could get a replacement who is better/more vocal! He has not been the same since the La Manga incident.

Despair - at the fact the backroom staff (Bassett/Cork/Keown) have all been linked. I shall not cheer any of these as manager (permanent not temporary) and it will be a very big backwards step if these were in full charge :(

Mickey has done well for us through the seasons, but this season is enough!! Were losing to teams of the likes of Brighton for gods sake, BRIGHTON!!! Hes had his chance this season to prove to us that he still has got what it takes and failed miserably! In a way im glad hes off, get someone in who will actually give our youngsters a chance instead of using the likes of Blake!!

Its been proved at Bradford that Bryan Robson is not a good manager if he does not have money.

25587[/snapback]

I think it was proved at Boro where he did have money and got them relegated....

Won't be happy at all if we appoint that shit bag.

Cheers for what you've done Micky btw, but it was time for a change.
