I'm sorry but Hughes is to ineffectual out on the wing, he hasn't got the pace, keeps drifting inside and we lose our shape big time. I would rather he didn't play at all than be used there. holly Posted 27 January 2006 Share Posted 27 January 2006 the only good thing about rob picking the team is that he has watched the teams week in week out like we have, without watching it in the same sort of way that craig did! so he might be able to see things like we did and put it that way! (if any of that makes sense) i would like to see henderson (someone needs to give him a chance) stearman Mcarthy nissa sheehan hammond weso joey smith hume o'grady subs: hughes, gerrbrand, maybury, de vries, kisnorbo

sledge1063 Posted 27 January 2006 Share Posted 27 January 2006 my team would be HENDERSON not douglas - reason douglas cant play first time ball to players his goal kicks are bent and he stays on the goal line plus he has cost us a few penalties. Defenders Stearman DR- McCarthy DC - Gerrbrand DC - Sheehan DL (we aint seen the best of him yet maybury playing out of position) Midfield Hammond MR - Research tells me he's more of a winger than a striker Hughes MC gudjonsson MC Smith ML Forward Hume Lee Morris - better than putting DEEP FREEZE
sledge1063 Posted 27 January 2006 Share Posted 27 January 2006 On the Bench Wesoloski - still returning to match fitness comes on for lee morris and then put hammond up fron Mark DEEP FREEZE Johansson Maybury Douglas

Mark Posted 27 January 2006 Share Posted 27 January 2006 ------------------Henderson Stearman---McCarthy--Johansson---Sheehan Hughes---Gudjonsson--Wesolowski---Smith ------------Hammond--Hume Subs: Logan, Maybury, Gerrbrand, Williams, O'Grady Being the Cup, we may as well get Sheehan in at left back now. We concede goals from that side almost every game. We're not signing anyone so this needs to be done. If De Vries starts Kelly clearly has no better ideas. Thracian Posted 27 January 2006 Share Posted 27 January 2006 Rob Kelly is no fool. He'll know what cost Levein his job. He's got a small window of opportunity to make an impact and I don't think he'll be negative at all. If he loses it will just be another bad day in a bad season but this is a big chance for Kelly and I think he'll have a go. There is every opportunity he would have played Dublin had he not been injured and I thought he do that too, reuniting him with Sheehan in a backline which beat Sheffield Wednesday at home. Now, because I think he still wants to attack, I think he will wrestle with playing Stearman at centre-back and Maybury on the right or whether to leave Stearman where he is and bring Gerrbrand back. Not easy but in the end he won't want to mess up the form of a guy playing well. The big question then is whether Morris is fit for 45 minutes or if not what to do on the right. Hughes is no good there so the choice is Hammond wide right or Hume in the hole of a 4-3-3. My guess: Douglas; Stearman, McCarthy, Gerrbrand, Sheehan; Morris, Gudjonsson, Wesolowski, Smith; Hume, O'Grady. He could as easily justify playing Hammond wide right or using Hammond/Hume or Hammond DeVries up front. But he might go with the pace and mobility of Hume and O'Grady who played together quite well for the Reserves recently. That would be our most adventurous line-up and apart from the obvious substitutes I think he might just be tempted to include Ashley Chambers. I would, assuming he's fit.. If we're losing we might benefit from a relative unknown who creates chances whenever he plays and who is, rather like Allan Clarke of days gone, deceptively difficult to mark. This would leave him free to use Hammond wide right if necessary, and to drop Hume back in the hole later if he wants to go 4-3-1-2. He may be further influenced if he delegates someone to mark Pahars. Whatever, I don't think he'll be negative for a minute.
