kevinwpratt Posted 29 January 2006 Share Posted 29 January 2006 Just wondered what peoples opinions were on the best place for a pre game drink??? I mean in the form of atmosphere, price, close to the ground.....
The People's Hero Posted 29 January 2006 Share Posted 29 January 2006 Gateway often has decent atmosphere with mixture of home and away fans. Beer isn't cheap but is very well kept.. good, reasonably priced food available quickly too.

Scow Posted 29 January 2006 Share Posted 29 January 2006 The Dry Dock is decent. Plenty of TV's for the footy, cheap drinks (If you have a Yellow card) and only a 10 minute walk from the ground.

And fantastic pool tables which I always lose to Cobbo/Stez/anyone else on
Bert Posted 29 January 2006 Share Posted 29 January 2006 What about the Soar Point?? More or less the same for drinks as Dry Dock.
Bridge Posted 29 January 2006 Share Posted 29 January 2006 What about the Soar Point?? More or less the same for drinks as Dry Dock. Does anyone drop into the Swan & Rushes? Don't know about the atmosphere..but the beer selection almost made me faint. Any place with that many beers from Belgium & Germany plus the excellent real ales would be worth a shot. It's the beer!! Scow Posted 29 January 2006 Share Posted 29 January 2006 What about the Soar Point?? More or less the same for drinks as Dry Dock. Yep. Both pubs are part of the Yellow card chain. Problem with the Soar Point is that it gets a little crowded in there sometimes.
Scow Posted 29 January 2006 Share Posted 29 January 2006 Well, it's the Scream pubs chain, not the Yellow card chain.

Yeah, that's the only downside to it. I've never been to the Dry Dck, i don't even know where it is Is it a big place??
Scow Posted 29 January 2006 Share Posted 29 January 2006 Yeah, that's the only downside to it. I've never been to the Dry Dck, i don't even know where it is Is it a big place?? It's the pub which is shaped like a boat. It's fairly small inside, but you can usually find somewhere to sit inside and there's rarely a queue for the bar. It's based near Homebase, just off Welford Road and near Leicester uni.
andyb92 Posted 29 January 2006 Share Posted 29 January 2006 i like narborough rd for an after match drink, O-Bar, Sumo and the Loaf are pretty good bit expensive though.

Any place with that many beers from Belgium & Germany plus the excellent real ales would be worth a shot. It's the beer!! It's excellent, and also does good food. I'd recommend it. The only drawback with it yesterday is that it was packed with Tigers fans.

Dr The Singh Posted 30 January 2006 Share Posted 30 January 2006 If you like food then Oasis or Barcode are the place on the narborough road, they both have sky and beer is reasonable!!
