davieG Posted 2 March 2006 Posted 2 March 2006 Well not this one according to MAs Adams is happy at Wise move Mar 1 2006By Andy Turner MICKY ADAMS is counting on Dennis Wise to let his football do the talking when Coventry City travel to Southampton this weekend. The combative midfielder left St Mary's in acrimonious circumstances after his failure to get the manager's job, despite indications that it was his, resulting in cross words with Saints chairman Rupert Lowe. "I think anyone who goes back to his old club wants to do well whether that is me as a manager or Wisey as an ex player," said Adams. "I certainly don't think the fact that he was there earlier in the season will diminish his enthusiasm for the game because we have all seen what Dennis is like. "He is in a terrific run of form and has been fantastic for this club. I think he did well for Southampton but circumstances worked against him." Story continues ADVERTISEMENT Wise picked up a couple of niggling injuries early on in the season and managed just one goal in 11 appearances. "I don't know how well he did as a player for them," said the City manager. "If you say he has scored goals for us and not for them, then fair enough, but Southampton were flying earlier in the season and he played a part in that. "I don't know whether he will be welcomed back because I couldn't tell you what they think of him. Dennis is one of those that you either love or hate." But Adams is satisfied that Wise has answered the Sky Blue critics who judged him before he even kicked a ball. "Coventry fans weren't too pleased when I signed him but they are all right about it now," he said. "People get reputations for themselves and fans are quick to jump on bandwagons, but you have to take the personality away from it and decide for yourself. "I said when I signed him, give him a chance and let's see what he can do and then judge him on what he does in a Sky Blue shirt. If he does the business, what's the problem? "It doesn't matter what he did at Leicester. "I have spoken to Leicester people who were at the game on Saturday and said his free kicks were brilliant, but the fans never gave him a chance at Leicester so they didn't see that." I don't know about anyone else, not withstanding his attack on Calum, I never actually saw him deliver a single decent corner or freekick - how many chances did the guy want, and why should the fans giving him a chance or not have affect on a seasoned professional - the simple anwser is he was a lazy git who was just there for the over inflated wage packet he was picking up.
Louise Posted 2 March 2006 Posted 2 March 2006 I would say that his only 'good' (in quotation marks because it still wasn't that good) game for us was against Chelsea, other than that he was appalling and when you consider we got him for 1.6 million... good enough reason to resent him alone without the whole Davidson/Administration saga.
Frenzied Posted 2 March 2006 Posted 2 March 2006 Adams is clearly still slightly mad. Wise was appalling when he played for us, taking the ball off our better players for corners and freekicks and then delivering shite. And of course the Callum Davidson incident speaks for itself.
Guest Posted 2 March 2006 Posted 2 March 2006 How Adams can stand by a player who attacked a team mate in one of the most cowardly ways, I don't know. It was amazing to see how little Callum figured after that incident. I know which of the two I'd rather have stayed.

It is also amazing that from what I hear, Davidson and Adams really, really disliked each other. I wonder whether that had anything to do with the Wise saga? Perhaps Adams pleaded with the club to keep Wise, which in turn pissed Davidson off and then ruined their working relationship. Davidson was a very good player for us when he was fit, alot better than that horrible excuse for a man. Do Dennis Wise and Peter Taylor combined equate to a person as evil as Saddam Hussain? Discuss.

Katy Posted 2 March 2006 Posted 2 March 2006 (un)Wise has the most stupidest looking face ever - FACT!
Hullfox Posted 2 March 2006 Posted 2 March 2006 Well I think that the UN should invade Hull to get rid of that evil tyrant!! Do they have oil fields in Hull?? There's a couple of petrol stations if thats any good.
The Don Posted 2 March 2006 Posted 2 March 2006 There's a couple of petrol stations if thats any good. E-mailing George W now!
eaststandtom Posted 2 March 2006 Posted 2 March 2006 its true!!!! my one true memory of wise is his consistent failure to take a decent corner.
Nationwider Posted 2 March 2006 Posted 2 March 2006 Micky did many good things at Leicester, and a few no-so-good things. That comment must rank as one of his top no-so-good moments.
TrickyTrev Posted 2 March 2006 Posted 2 March 2006 I actually think our fans give our players an extremely hard time and can get on their backs unnecasarilly and only destroy their confidence. Booing Sylla when he is substiuttued or ironically cheering Kisnorbo being substituted is so counter productive it is untrue. Having said all that, Wise was hear to pick up some easy cash at the end of his career. He certainly never delivered a good set piece in all his time at Leicester and his insistance on taking them all did my nut in. He clearly thought he was a better player than everyone else round him even though in reaility he is a glorified thug who never had anywhere near the influence or quality of a defencive midfielder like Neil Lennon or even Robbie Savage.

As much as sounds like a joke it is absolutely true which makes me think Micky lost the plot a bit earlier than we thought!
The People's Hero Posted 2 March 2006 Posted 2 March 2006 There's a couple of petrol stations if thats any good. That's about all there is, by all accounts.

Callum davison was SHITE, the fooking jug eared bastard was bought by Peter Foocking Taylor and only earned cult status at city, because the poison little dwarf smacked him in the mouth.

Have we had a better left back since? What on earth did he do to you to offend you that you need to be so abusive about him?

I thought, and still think, that Callum was a good player, and would still do a decent job for this club.
Ric Flair Posted 3 March 2006 Posted 3 March 2006 I thought, and still think, that Callum was a good player, and would still do a decent job for this club. Agreed. Whenever he had a sustained run of games in the side he was a good player, the problem was that he was often injured and the manager didn't like him. He's doing very well for Preston, proof that he's more than good enough at this level.
harpendenfox Posted 3 March 2006 Posted 3 March 2006 I thought, and still think, that Callum was a good player, and would still do a decent job for this club. Anyone remember Callum against Arsenal last time round in the Prem? We drew 1-1 against an Henry-less Gunners with Hignett doing his one thing for the club and equalising in the last minute. A recently returned Davidson played midfield and imho was our man of the match. He was totally high octane that day and quite clearly a decent player who perhaps hasn't achieved all that he could. I believe he's doing pretty well with Preston who could yet be in the Prem next year. Defo a shame we got rid.

Funny you should say that, I do remember than game and nearly put something about that in my previous post. Was awesome that game.
Durnerz Posted 3 March 2006 Posted 3 March 2006 Davidson was immense in the Promotion season in Midfield and on the left side and in the Prem season but as has been highlighted, injuries have kept his appearances down. I'm not surprised hes doing well for Preston, he's a quality player who when he gets a run can be very consistant.
