Manwell Pablo Posted 28 March 2006 Posted 28 March 2006 Iv just heard that joey has a contract in his clause with AZ that he can come back within one year if he doesnt like it in holland surely with got to get first option on the clause He's signed a four year deal for AZ, he's going and he's not coming back. Let it go. In answer to your question no we wont
shen Posted 28 March 2006 Posted 28 March 2006 Iv just heard that joey has a contract in his clause with AZ that he can come back within one year if he doesnt like it in holland surely with got to get first option on the clause I'm sure he'll hate it there... I mean, why train with superior players and an ex-Barcelona manager, play against big teams like Ajax, Feyenoord and PSV who regularly get 30-40k spectators for home games, and, God forbid, play Champions League, when you can play in the English second tier?

Expect him back September then
wonderboy Posted 28 March 2006 Posted 28 March 2006 Expect him back September then sarcasm is a funny thing

You could say the same when he went to Real Betis but it didn't work out. I know he's improved as a player since then but is he good enough for that level? I think so, but i've been proved wrong many times.
Phube Posted 28 March 2006 Posted 28 March 2006 I personally don't really mind that he's going!! I just think that, in my opinion, his distribution is shocking, as is his tackling. In fact I'm sure the only thing that he can do is shoot, but my God he can shoot!! So I'm not too fussed. Yes we do need a replacement but I think Weso in his 3 games has done more than Joey (apart from the goals) as a central midfielder!

Real Betis -> Villa -> Wolves and then us...besides, neither of them were in the Champions League or had such a high profile manager

Sometimes this is true, but there's no substitute for someone who can rifle a free kick in when you really need it or score a goal from nothing to give you the three points on days when the team as a whole just doesnt click. That happens to the best of teams, and its when you need someone to do something special. How many times has Lampard scored the winner from Chelsea from outside the box. Im not comparing Joey to Frank, but he can turn a game when you need it most and so can Joey - two goals against Hull to give us three points being a perfect example.
Ric Flair Posted 28 March 2006 Posted 28 March 2006 He will be on Pro Evo next year, 'nuff said. Can't wait to rip some 40 yarders in, I hope they are realistic with him though. The un-predictibility of scoring a screamer one minute and then putting one out the ground the next will be hours of fun.

Accidentally deleted the team I made ARGH

holly Posted 29 March 2006 Posted 29 March 2006 well unless we get promoted, win some silver wear etc i cant see him coming back!!!
Ric Flair Posted 29 March 2006 Posted 29 March 2006 You're right about the clause. Doubt he'll use it though. Hasn't Joey got any younger brothers or cousins that he can ship our way as a replacement? Not Bjarni his older brother though as he's not what we need.

Not Bjarni his older brother though as he's not what we need. He mentioned in an interview not long ago that his youngest brother (14) came to train here with us in the summer but decided to stay with his club in Iceland for now.
