Simple idea, though it might be tricky in its execution....

Record the match, and try not to find out the score... and watch it later.

At the end of the day though, these first round matches won't be too vital and you would be pig sick if you missed her b'day and our game was utter crap!

Oh, you could join about 24% of the country and throw a sicky when the Sweden game is on....:cool:

Do a Mrs Doubtfire style thing.

Robin Williams number is 1800 5477 69 277.

He actually lives just around the corner, I could go and ask him myself.

Personal recommendation and stuff, you know.

Jeez, I am gonna sound like Dear Deidre here but...

Have you talked to her about this, dear?

Yes, she does'nt think the football is important!

If you want to watch the footy then watch it, if you let her have this one the very next thing that clashes with any match she will expect you to drop it, you have to put your foot down otherwise you will be constantly missing games for the rest of your time together. She needs to understand that nothing gets in the way of England and if i were you, i would say although you're disapointed with her for not watching the match with you, you forgive her as its her Birthday

Hmmm, this is why it is quite important to date someone with similar likes/dislikes....

Have you considered giving her the 'Spanish Archer'?

The World Cup is only every four years.

If I had an 18-year-old daughter I would be severely worried about her boyfriend if he missed an England World Cup game to meet me.

:D:D:D:P

Problem solved :)

I have the BEST gf ever in the history of the world!!!

She said she is going to book the table at 7.30 and let me watch the football and when i said you know that means i won't talk to you through out the footy she said yea but there we go!.

SCORE! get to watch the footy and not get in trouble, boo yea! I'm a happy happy man!

I never feel that close to England, at the end of the day, it's just a bucnh of over paid egos running around the pitch. I sometimes can't understand people on this forum who start threads backing Watford to beat Leeds or Blackburn to beat Arsenal or something. I hate ever other team that is not Leicester, I hope they all lose if that was possible. there's no Leicester players playing for England so feck them. bunch of toss pots. Hope they lose to trinidad and I hope Trinidad lose too.

I'm first and foremost a Leicester fan. Club over Country any day.

It really annoys me the amount of woodworm supporters there are when there's a worldcup. All of a sudden everyones a fecking expert. The media becomes 10 times worse and start using sickly phrases like "our boys"

I was having my hair cut the other day and the woman who was doing it said "I hate all these plastic fans, I follow England all year round and I love football..." I thought fair enough, I'll give her a chance. Five minutes later I kid you not she said "What worries me though is all these injuries to England players, important ones like Rooney, Cisse and Gerrard...." The fact that she had an enormous pair of scissors two inches away from my cranium led me to keep silent at this point but I was sighing inside.

PS I'm glad a lot of the clichés have been shot to pieces so far this year. Didn't see the Togo game but the Ivory Coast and Angola looked really well-organised, hopefully this'll finally put paid to the "Africans as disorganised savages" cliché. And commentators banging on about Zidane and Ronaldo when they have quite clearly been past it (sorry, in my opinion) this season (I admit as well easy to say after the event).

PPS - Good luck with the getting laid business. Sorry I've veered off topic rather humungously.

I know exactly what you mean there, you go up the pub and there is a load of tossers, that usually moan about how 'there's too much football on the TV these days' in the full England Kit taking all the good seats.
