dandannieldanok Posted 24 June 2006 Author Posted 24 June 2006 I think i'm right in saying that borgetti has now scored as many goals in the prem with bolton as own goals in the world cup. The total being 1 each. Correct me if i'm wrong!
dandannieldanok Posted 24 June 2006 Author Posted 24 June 2006 For once the commentators are finally cottoning on to the fact the Argentinians dive. The true Argentina are showing now (Meant by the diving not the actual football)
MC Prussian Posted 24 June 2006 Posted 24 June 2006 I still want to see Argentina advance, just to give the Shermans the long-deserved slap in the face, I doubt that Mexico would be able to do that... Or would you lads prefer playing against Germany?
davieG Posted 24 June 2006 Posted 24 June 2006 Heinze should be off The inconsistency of referees on basic interpretation of the laws is beyond belief.
Nationwider Posted 24 June 2006 Posted 24 June 2006 Re: Heinze, my initial reaction was that there was a covering defender - yellow card. Video replays showed that the last man wouldn't have prevented a shot, but to be honest, the ref's got to make a split-second judgement from his angle and be 100% sure in order to send the man off. Fair enough, IMO. Go Argies!
davieG Posted 24 June 2006 Posted 24 June 2006 If I heard correctly 19 reds already says to me that the refereeing in this world cup has shown what a complete farce the interpretation of the laws have become. It seems that any type of physical contact is deemed a foul and if a player goes down (the majority of which are just histrionics) they get a yellow. No conract football is well and truelly arriving, should please the prawn sadwich mob. I've even seen players warned for attempting overhead kicks WTF is that all about. The more you deal out yellows by the simple laws of logic you're going to be giving out more reds and ruining games. They're not called football MATCHES for nothing. We'll soon have matches that resemble the Harlem Globedtrotters, entertaining the first time you see them but who wants a whole season of that.
Daggers Posted 24 June 2006 Posted 24 June 2006 Fuerza Mexico! Anda amigitos, anda! 15 minutes to really get into them and FTU
Benji Posted 24 June 2006 Posted 24 June 2006 What's the rule on extra time? Who's winning after 30 minutes (ie we've scrapped the golden goal rule?). I want Argentina to win so we can beat them on our way to winning the world cup
Libertine Posted 24 June 2006 Posted 24 June 2006 What's the rule on extra time? Who's winning after 30 minutes (ie we've scrapped the golden goal rule?).I want Argentina to win so we can beat them on our way to winning the world cup Yeh, just normal extra time, no golden or silver goal anymore.
Benji Posted 24 June 2006 Posted 24 June 2006 Good strike that Still, tonight [whatever the result] only proves this currently 'favoured' team are very beatable
Libertine Posted 24 June 2006 Posted 24 June 2006 What a ****ing great goal. What a ****ing orgasm enthralling goal.
Benji Posted 24 June 2006 Posted 24 June 2006 orgasm speaking of which, now your 16 ask your parents to tell you about the birds and the bees! (Happy Birthday)
Libertine Posted 24 June 2006 Posted 24 June 2006 speaking of which, now your 16 ask your mum to tell you about the birds and the bees! (Happy Birthday) I was told earlier. I was shocked and appalled.
MC Prussian Posted 24 June 2006 Posted 24 June 2006 I was told earlier. I was shocked and appalled. Not excited?
shen Posted 24 June 2006 Posted 24 June 2006 Jesus.. what a cracking goal... it's a cliché, but that was worthy of winning any match!
Thracian Posted 24 June 2006 Posted 24 June 2006 What I cannot understand is the continued persistence with short free kicks, beloved by Mexico like so many others, even when players are tired. Okay occasionally when everyone is full of energy you may be able to set up an attack with pace and numbers. But in the second half of extra time, when you are desperate to get into the opposition penalty box, why give a short free kick in midfield and then require eight or nine passes between knackered footballers to get where you could go for almost certain with one pass is ridiculous. I remember the trend of short free-kicks starting way back and considered the theory misguided even then. Nothing has convinced me since. I don't mean just hoisting they into the air either. Hard and low for a flick on causes havoc and is a far better bet than a series of complex passes as brains and bodis get weary.
Nationwider Posted 24 June 2006 Posted 24 June 2006 A fantastic game, well worth stopping in for. I still reckon my money's safe with Argentina. They can bring on Tevez, Messi and Aimar from the bench, FFS! Harsh on Mexico - they looked better than a last-16 team, but that's Cup football for you.
Luke_Leicester_Lad Posted 25 June 2006 Posted 25 June 2006 Best world cup 2006 game so far that I have watched in my opinion. Thrilling goals and end to end footballl which is loads more exciting than the Germany v Sweden game which was very much one sided.
