No Kaka or Torres, yet these clowns got in? I'm more concerned by the fat pub footballer called Maniche being in there.... Also it seems like its saying if you dont make the quarter finals you cant be in the all-star team. How wrong is that? Surely a Ghanian should be in there. As it was tough enough for them to qualify from that group.

People are going on about Torres way too much - he was good but not that good. 3 goals, one was a peno and another was a calamity piece of goalkeeping is hardly much to write home about. He could have scored more with a bit of composure too. Crespo is a class player, and deserves to be in the squad. Agreed about the others though, Ze Roberto was average and both Totti and Toni have been pretty poor by their reputations.

Agreed about the others though, Ze Roberto was average and both Totti and Toni have been pretty poor by their reputations. Torres had a very good World Cup though- it was his all round play which impressed me, I'd always previously seen him as purely a striker but he's not so bad at holding it up and playing others in and is also decent down both flanks. Crespo also deserves to be in there.. As for Totti and Toni - why?
Maybes Posted 12 July 2006 Posted 12 July 2006 What the hell did figo, carvalho and toni actually do to merit getting in that squad? Ok toni had a good season in Serie A but i thought it was supposed to be judged on world cup performances!! He was pretty lacklustre (sp).
Bert Posted 12 July 2006 Posted 12 July 2006 Totti was class in the semi-final in all fairness, and that's probably why he got in there...

Carvalho was pretty damn good all throughout the tournament to be fair, maybe with the exception of the 3rd place final...
Finnegan Posted 12 July 2006 Posted 12 July 2006 It's Totti that baffles me the most, he's just been lazy.
Phube Posted 12 July 2006 Posted 12 July 2006 Another thing, who was England's best player, cause in my view it was Owen Hargreaves!! So how did JT get in as our only player!! IMO I wouldn't have put any England player in!!
Finnegan Posted 13 July 2006 Posted 13 July 2006 Oh, and whoever doubts Maniche's performances in the World Cup is a footballing retard. Take your head out of your arse, take off the St. George's sunglasses and get over it. He worked hard, scored some great goals and looked lively for an average Portugal side.
