dandannieldanok Posted 24 July 2006 Posted 24 July 2006 Here is a thread where all you Rab Bashers can slate him more if you want. However I can't understand why people call him a rubbish keeper. Yes he has made a mistake tonight and a couple against Sheff Utd in the opening game but tell me a kepper that hasn't. I don't particularly like the fella but when he has been in goal last season he looked okay, made decent saves and look quite comfortable on crosses, more so than hendo who is a bit of a flapper.

I personally think rab is shite, makes too many mistakes and cant do the simple things right. Not good enough for us we need a good keeper that we can rely on week in week out, and whos english so we can sing englands number 1 at him.
Ultra Posted 24 July 2006 Posted 24 July 2006 Being English should have nothing to do with it. As long as the keeper is of sufficient quality I don't give a monkey's where he's from!

dandannieldanok Posted 24 July 2006 Author Posted 24 July 2006 When people say rab makes mistakes, i would like you to point out when they happened because i can only think of tonight and sheff utd
Guest Gist Posted 24 July 2006 Posted 24 July 2006 He is always charging out giving away peno's, he did that at stoke and look at the Watford game at home when we were 2-1 up and he threw it straight to one of their players and they scored.

If it had just been the first game last season that would have been fine. However it wasn't. There were a number of home games last season (Watford, Crewe and Millwall come immediately to mind) where we lost points through his errors and/or failure to communicate. I also recall a misjudgement in the Spurs game which cost us a goal, as well as a bad error which almost let Brighton back into a game we had dominated (and was a crucial 6-pointer). I think he's shot it and should be allowed to leave as soon as an offer comes in (probably from Scotland) to take him off our hands.
l444ry Posted 24 July 2006 Posted 24 July 2006 This club's goalkeeping problem will cost us a minimum of 10 points this season.
Jamesino_LCFC Posted 24 July 2006 Posted 24 July 2006 Well, last season when he was in goal under Levein, there would be numerous times where, the opposition would have a shot down our end, the shot would go wide, and the whole Kop would have that sort of very quiet "oohh" and then quiet talking. This talking is not about the shot, but it was about how far away Rab Douglas was from that shot, and that if it was on target it would be going in, and when a decent keeper would've had it covered. My predictions were backed up by how my dad turned to me and said "He's crap.. he was miles away from that shot" and then the guy who sits behind us, in his very 'out-loud' 'dont-give-a-shit' manner says "He is the WORST goalkeeper to ever put on a leicester city shit" pointing in a violent manner towards him. The sooner we get rid of Rab Douglas the better.
Alexikokopops Posted 24 July 2006 Posted 24 July 2006 If you'd seen the error tonight. Yes, he didn't get enough on it to tip it over, but he turned round and watched it bounce into the net when even I, a student whose reactions have been dulled by a couple of years of, well, studenting, could've easily got it away.
Guest Gist Posted 24 July 2006 Posted 24 July 2006 I think now is the time for Logan to get more games I really think he is good enough to play regular for us. The only thing he lacks is experience but he will never get that until he plays first team football on a regular basis.

dandannieldanok Posted 24 July 2006 Author Posted 24 July 2006 Well i'm afraid I am the bearer of bad news because Rab is here to stay this season. Unlike brum, palace and cov leicester are skint. Who do people expect our keepers to be, Petr Cech, Casillas. Be content for pity sake.
Guest Gist Posted 24 July 2006 Posted 24 July 2006 No-one said that we had the money I think everyone realises we have no money to spend but we have other options instead of Rab that could possibly do a better job
l444ry Posted 24 July 2006 Posted 24 July 2006 No-one said that we had the money I think everyone realises we have no money to spend but we have other options. The only problem there Gist, is that the options are pretty pathetic if City are to make even a token effort to reach the play-offs.
Guest Gist Posted 24 July 2006 Posted 24 July 2006 I know that but unless we sold an outfield player we won't be getting a quality keeper so maybe play offs are out of our reach, unless certain players start to improve, like Kisnorbo shown last season.

Were you content when Akinbuyi was leaidng the strike force? We can accept the fact that it'll be hard to find a replacement, but it shouldn't mean we should sit there and be satisfied with the situation.

Then perhaps Rob Kelly should not have brought in one of those four outfield signings and focused on a goalkeeper.
Jamesino_LCFC Posted 25 July 2006 Posted 25 July 2006 I am pretty stunned that Rob Kelly hasnt signed a new goalkeeper for next season to be honest.
Ric Flair Posted 25 July 2006 Posted 25 July 2006 Douglas is a liability, Henderson is just about good enough for this level. Logan is unproven. It's certainly not our strongest area and i'm hoping to dear god that an SPL team come in for Douglas but now that Henderson is injured, I fear Douglas will be our number 1 and that'll mean that he'll not be seeking a move. Our only hope is that he starts on friday and has a bigger nightmare than last night and Kelly makes a brave decision to bounce him out of here before real damage is done.

Agreed, but I imagine he will be our number 1, for the start of the season!!!!
Jonbluefox9 Posted 25 July 2006 Posted 25 July 2006 Add to his list of howlers one he made in a reserve match last season. Can't remember the opposition but it was awful. RK's said he's feeling his shoulder a bit. I think he's just a complete crock. His speed off the line is poor, takes an age to get down to low shots, dives a little too late (maybe worried about his shoulder), comes and flaps at crosses and his kicking was awful at times last season. He had to come off at half time with a quad problem against Derby last season, he fell down the stairs and now his shoulder. For a big man I doubt he strikes much fear into strikers. His best days are behind him and from what I've heard they weren't that impressive either. Much rather see Henderson in goal. A 'keeper who's working his way up and still has a lot to achieve in the game.
