The Stig Posted 31 July 2006 Posted 31 July 2006 Does anyone agree with me when I say that I think that 18.6 for Carrick is FAR to much, i'd only pay 8-10
Fez of Mahrez Posted 31 July 2006 Posted 31 July 2006 Does anyone agree with me when I say that I think that 18.6 for Carrick is FAR to much, i'd only pay 8-10 Yes.
Leicester Lass Posted 31 July 2006 Posted 31 July 2006 When they only got £10.3 million for van Niistlerooy, then £18.6million for Carrick seems very excessive.
The People's Hero Posted 31 July 2006 Posted 31 July 2006 When they only got £10.3 million for van Niistlerooy, then £18.6million for Carrick seems very excessive. In his defence, Carrick does look marginally less like a horse.. opting for the rabbit in headlights alternative. Swish.
Guest Gist Posted 31 July 2006 Posted 31 July 2006 Sometimes you have to pay more than the player is worth but Carrick is quality and is likely to improve, also have needed a player like him for a while.
Shum Posted 31 July 2006 Posted 31 July 2006 When they only got £10.3 million for van Niistlerooy, then £18.6million for Carrick seems very excessive. Carrick is 23, RVN is 30.
dandannieldanok Posted 31 July 2006 Posted 31 July 2006 A sign of fergie getting desperate. A good player but the price has been inflated way too much.
Manwell Pablo Posted 31 July 2006 Posted 31 July 2006 A sign of fergie getting desperate. A good player but the price has been inflated way too much. If I were a spurs fan I would be more then happy with that.
dandannieldanok Posted 31 July 2006 Posted 31 July 2006 If I were a spurs fan I would be more then happy with that. Yeah they have come up good with that one. Also they have a replacement in a player called Hossam Ghaly who has apparently looked impressive in pre-season.

I'd be more impressed with Taino, especially after his second goal against Inter at the weekend
LoneWolf Posted 31 July 2006 Posted 31 July 2006 if chelsea was going to buy carrick they would have paid more
Fez of Mahrez Posted 31 July 2006 Posted 31 July 2006 I think Zokora will be an able replacement for Carrick.
Stevosevic Posted 31 July 2006 Posted 31 July 2006 great signing for united, they despearately need another striker though as Rooney is the only decent forward.
Nationwider Posted 31 July 2006 Posted 31 July 2006 A cracking bit of business for Spurs. I bet the Glazers let that cash go with buttocks firmly clenched!
Daggers Posted 31 July 2006 Posted 31 July 2006 Does anyone agree with me when I say that I think that 18.6 for Carrick is FAR to much, i'd only pay 8-10 If you have that much spare cash knocking about FoxFanatic, I don't suppose I could trouble you for a small handout could I? Just to cover the kids for some new uniforms and a nice Ferrari for the missus?
Ultra Posted 1 August 2006 Posted 1 August 2006 Fergie has paid over the odds yet again (remember the £30m wasted on Veron?), though Spurs will have to pay part of the fee to West Ham as a sell-on clause. Wonder why he didn't go for Owen Hargreaves instead? His international record and pedigree at club level is far better than Carrick's!
shen Posted 1 August 2006 Posted 1 August 2006 We don't know the details of the deal. It could well be that they're paying the remaining 5,6 mil only if they win the Premier League/Champions League during his stay there.
Alexikokopops Posted 1 August 2006 Posted 1 August 2006 Apparently it's £13million up front. I think I read that on the BBC site.
