Can people please take a reality check, this is our first game of the season and although we didn't look like scoring we only conceded due to our own errors.

People calling for Kelly's Head (Thracian for example) do really need to have some loyalty. This man saved us from going in to League Two last season. We are always shite on the first day, and this year seems no different. Let's all get behind the boys on Tuesday, some people are just over reacting.

However, it seems Kelly has sacrificed fitness work for ball work in pre-season thus it will take the players a few more games to be adgusted to the pace of competitive matches.

And for goodness sake, these youngesters people go on about are not the answer to all our problems, if they were; Kelly would pick them. As he has with Weso (when fit), Stearman and O'Grady. Give it a rest because Kelly knows what he is doing.

We will bounce back, we will beat burnley and we will finish in the top half.

Kelly Out, For Foks sake!!!!!!!!!!

All the kudos for last season but no responsibility this season. No point telling me to calm down as all that will do is show the same level of passion as the players and no-one wants that.:mad::mad:

I was just about to post a similar topic and message to go with it, well said. I think we can turn it around in the next two home games. To do this I would not change the personnel of the team except for Johansson. I would change Tiatto too but I want to see him given another chance.

Which is not a one off. I don't think i'd have been any happier if we'd been ripped apart spite some stearn defending.

Mistakes have been consistant since MON left. When we iron them out, on and off the field, then we might stand a chance. What i'm saying is, it wasn't a one off today.

That would be fine except I didn't see much evidence of either.

Lots of clubs have managers that have done well for them but it's the exception rather than the rulle that they gives them the right to football imortality - not that I'm advocating Kelly's demise

As for the youngsters no one knows whether they are the answer i.e. better than we've got unless they are given the occasional chance to prove it. Certainly those in possession aren't proving they deserve their places.

New season, same old, same old.

What were people realistically expecting?

How many chances is Tiatto allowed?

Far more polite than I would have put it!!!!!!!!! FFS how about some loyalty here? Nobody but nobody likes losing on the opening day but surely the team deserve a little more loyalty after just one game? Keep changing and keep changing achieves nothing - if we win on Saturday does that then mean we are world beaters neither stance is of course true.

Everyone is very frustrated and if you can't come on the forum and have a moan then what you suppose to do? I don't think that people are actually being disloyal, they're just using the forum as a release mechanism.

It is not just one game though. It has been the same since the 2004/2005 season.:cry::cry::( <_<

I don't remember calling for Kelly's head. I said Mike Stowell should take charge of the next match - to see if he can put an attacking side together.

I don't care what Kelly does in the meantime.

Stowell demonstrated what I consider the right approach to playing football. Whatever the comparative standard, there was balance, energy, team spirit, enterprise and end result in the shape of five goals from his team.

Now I don't know if Stowell can transfer that approach to the first team and get some of the players he used that day to show the same confidence and cohesion.

But if he can, Kelly should just sit back, watch and see what makes it work.

Which were sodding schoolboy and we did the same last season. Surely it is not unreasonable to expect them to have been erradicated by now?

Playing devil's advocate, he was also part of the managerial team that put the bulk of this squad together last season and got us in the bottom 3. The football we played under him is no better than Levein, he got a run of results when all around crumbled. As I have said before we were shite throughout April and nothing has changed through July and now in to August.

However, it seems Kelly has sacrificed fitness work for ball work in pre-season thus it will take the players a few more games to be adgusted to the pace of competitive matches.

What kind of excuse is that? If you are offering that as a defence then he needs sacking immediately along with Stowell for dereliction of duty. You remember the last manager to send a team out so abject and unfit on day one?

Peter Taylor.

Also we couldn't string a pass together today let alone run, so what the hell did we do during pre-season?

Thracian FFS, get over the Hinckley game, they are shite in no way can that or should that be used as a yard stick for anything.

When you keep harping on about it your arguement loses weight and validity.

I've picked Tiatto in my notional team for Tueday but how many chances are you going to give our variousunderperformers? I won't name em but I doubt you'd EVER give any youngster the slack you give this lot so why? What hold do they have?. And what hold do they have over RK?

For Foks sake Thracian do you not understand that match was against Hinckley and stop goin on about it, no disrespect but our first team would have perhaps even scored more goals against Hinckley.

So you want Stowell to take charge of the next game, but to not sack Kelly

Have it one was or the other, you can't choose a compromise, such a situation does just not exist in football.

Let's not compare this performance to the last few seasons, it is a new term and apart from the Nissa distaster, which he eventually learned from, we were solid defending set pieces. I have every faith that Kelly will get it right, but for goodness sake lets hope he does not read these messageboards or he will get deflated.

So you're saying that we should completely ignore last season and Kelly deserves to be sacked for losing 1 game this season?

Yes of course, Kelly can't be eternally praised and excused for any problems because of what he did for us last season. He took charge of 16 games last season and although we did well in those games, it's now a new season and he has to pretty much prove himself again, as do the team. That's fair enough and I agree with that.

However, it seems to me that the people that are saying that his 16 games last season aren't enough to praise him, are the same people who seem to think that 1 game of this season is enough to condemn him!!

I wish everyone would stop being so **** pessimistic. It's a disgrace, nobody seems to be backing the team or the manager at all. Yes, yes, I'll get the doom merchants bitching at me for this, but it IS just 1, one, uno, ein, 1 single game this season so far. 1 **** game! And everybody wants to write us off already!

Don't get me wrong, I was extremely disappointed today. We were shit. We need to play a hell of a lot better than that if we want to improve on last season. But, that doesn't mean that we should change our whole **** team and sack the manager now!

When Craig Levein was in charge, everybody criticised him for chopping and changing his team around so much. When RK took over he sorted that out, because you need a settled lineup to do well, and we did do well with it and people praised RK for keeping a settled team. Now, as soon as we have a bad day everybody wants to change half the team out and play the bloody youth players.

Keeping changes to a minimum is important, and changing half the lineup after the first game would look extremely bad for Rob Kelly, especially if we then didn't beat Burnley either.

Please, at least wait a few more weeks before tearing into the manager and team in the way that people have today. The way people have been acting on here today, I wouldn't be suprised if the boo boys are out in force against Burnley if we go a goal down on Tuesday, and that won't help the team at all..

Please just take a reality check. We still have 45 games to go. Don't condemn the team after 1 game, away, against a team who most would probably expect to finish about the same place as us come the end of the season anyway.

If you look at our record under RK, including today, that's 28 points in 17 league games.. That's an average of 1.65 points a game. Take that over the course of a 46 game season and we'll have 76 points, which would've been enough for us to be in the playoffs last season. Palace finished in 6th place and had 75. 7th place only had 67 points. Considering most people on here have said they wouldn't really expect us to finish in the playoff places this year, and realistic hopes are for a top 10 finish (although from the gross overreaction from many today, I'm assuming what they said they want and what they actually want are very different), then RK's record still looks very good to me! Give the guy a break!

And Thrac, would you please shut up about the bloody Hinckley game? I'm sure the team we put out today would've pissed all of them as well, but because we had kids playing in it it gives you a permanent hard-on and makes you think that that team was perfect!

Fine but the problem I have with a few posters is that they are using last year as an excuse for poor performances this year. RK did brilliantly last year so he is above criticism this year. Not so. This is a fresh slate this season and so far he has only bad marks on that fresh slate.
