I don't see to many threads before the season with the fear of what happened today..

Ah?! Fans there not fickle but they only tell you about the worries and fears after its happened..Must be coincidence :rolleyes:

I remember Wigan being given not much of a chance, Prehaps Luton may follow in a similar way, Not saying they are not saying there not, just comparisons...

I know theres big differences between Wigan and Luton (Money for one example) but the point i'm making its Wigan were wrote off and proved everyone wrong, Luton have won today but does that means they'll do well this season? No not necesserilly, so are Leicester gonna do well, No if they have proformances like today, but on a whole no not necesserilly.

Well I'm not going through searching for them, but here's one I started a while back http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/index.ph...c=21658&hl=. Davieg posted a topic of his concerns in the past week, do take a look.

1st post in the thread by...Oh you.

Fair enough you have voiced your concerns about the signings then at the end of your post

Kelly has a great bunch of young players to build a top 6 team this season. I won't be content with another mid table finish.

So the way I read it, You think Kelly can do a good job with the resources he has. Correct?

The in a PM to me earlier today you said

I'm not happy with Kelly at all

Correct he has a great bunch of players to work with and should do well, some of our youngsters have shown superb potential. The problem is he's set the team up completely wrong to achieve a top 6 finish, hasn't brought in a winger so it's too narrow, choosing to strenghen the defence instead despite our poor strike rate last season. His signings are not of the required standard, whether thats down to money or just poor judgement - I'd prefer him bring in a couple of loan players than waste it on our limited wages for players who just are not going to improve the squad.

No, I'm not happy with Kelly. Even if/when he realises he's made a mistake in choosing defenders as wingers, he can't change it unless he brings in academy lads. I don't think he's given himself a plan B.

All ill say is you only have to look back at last season and how game slowly but surely passed by, everyone kept saying give levein 10 games give him another chance. If we play like today then we'll be in a similar situation as we were with 15 games left last season.

Everyone always has some concerns going into the start of any season. Whether they choose to post them on an internet forum or not is up to them. If things had gone marvellously well today then those concerns would've slipped to the back of everyone's minds. A 2-0 win playing like Luton did today and many people would've been predicting promotion for us already. Leicester supporters anyway.

Today was a wake up call for a lot of people I feel. We could've done with it coming before the season started but it's happened now, we've just got to pick ourselves up and go again.

I think I agree with that. We know we can play better, we know that we can defend better, we know we can attack better. I really hope this will give the team a kick up the backside. But they are not going to be helped by fams getting on their back on Tuesday. I really hope that the crowd get behind the players on Tuesday.

We are a much better side than what we saw today. There's 45 games to go! Remember when we lost 6-1 to Ipswich in our last promotion season...

No kisnorbo, Tiatto was in the side and Stearman had an off day

I think those 3 major factors caused us to lose as Kenton didnt seem able to cope at times and McCarthy had too much to do at times (hence second goal)

Have to say i was impressed with the attitudes or Elvis and O'Grady and they showed there are competition for places

Can't quite see that Tomo, 99% of the people on here or so it seems thought that Kento was the best man in a blue shirt today - not that that is any sort of recommendation mind :P

I thought maybury had a decent game but the player ratings thread says otherwise, although he is a commonly disliked player and one that some will never give credit to.

So you're saying that we should completely ignore last season and Kelly deserves to be sacked for losing 1 game this season?

Yes of course, Kelly can't be eternally praised and excused for any problems because of what he did for us last season. He took charge of 16 games last season and although we did well in those games, it's now a new season and he has to pretty much prove himself again, as do the team. That's fair enough and I agree with that.

However, it seems to me that the people that are saying that his 16 games last season aren't enough to praise him, are the same people who seem to think that 1 game of this season is enough to condemn him!!

I wish everyone would stop being so **** pessimistic. It's a disgrace, nobody seems to be backing the team or the manager at all. Yes, yes, I'll get the doom merchants bitching at me for this, but it IS just 1, one, uno, ein, 1 single game this season so far. 1 **** game! And everybody wants to write us off already!

Don't get me wrong, I was extremely disappointed today. We were shit. We need to play a hell of a lot better than that if we want to improve on last season. But, that doesn't mean that we should change our whole **** team and sack the manager now!

When Craig Levein was in charge, everybody criticised him for chopping and changing his team around so much. When RK took over he sorted that out, because you need a settled lineup to do well, and we did do well with it and people praised RK for keeping a settled team. Now, as soon as we have a bad day everybody wants to change half the team out and play the bloody youth players.

Keeping changes to a minimum is important, and changing half the lineup after the first game would look extremely bad for Rob Kelly, especially if we then didn't beat Burnley either.

Please, at least wait a few more weeks before tearing into the manager and team in the way that people have today. The way people have been acting on here today, I wouldn't be suprised if the boo boys are out in force against Burnley if we go a goal down on Tuesday, and that won't help the team at all..

Please just take a reality check. We still have 45 games to go. Don't condemn the team after 1 game, away, against a team who most would probably expect to finish about the same place as us come the end of the season anyway.

If you look at our record under RK, including today, that's 28 points in 17 league games.. That's an average of 1.65 points a game. Take that over the course of a 46 game season and we'll have 76 points, which would've been enough for us to be in the playoffs last season. Palace finished in 6th place and had 75. 7th place only had 67 points. Considering most people on here have said they wouldn't really expect us to finish in the playoff places this year, and realistic hopes are for a top 10 finish (although from the gross overreaction from many today, I'm assuming what they said they want and what they actually want are very different), then RK's record still looks very good to me! Give the guy a break!

And Thrac, would you please shut up about the bloody Hinckley game? I'm sure the team we put out today would've pissed all of them as well, but because we had kids playing in it it gives you a permanent hard-on and makes you think that that team was perfect!

Top post, completely agreed.

The negativity amongst City fans at the moment is pathetic - give the team and management a chance. Some fans even booed the team at HT and FT at Kenilworth Road, which is completely OTT.

i just thought kenton was easily dragged out of position at times. there was a couple times he ventured forwards and then lost the ball aswel. I was loving the look McCarthy gave Stearman when he f@acked up for about the third time in 3 first half minutes.

i dont think the team performance as a whole was that bad. we missed some width and there wasnt really anyone taking anyone on from the sides. We just didnt seem to turn posession into any chances, and i though Hume and Fryatt did really well on the scraps they were given. Hume did some sort of chav p ised off walk when he got subbed that was funny to see

What crap, too many lightweights!. Luton were hardly a marauding team of hardcases. And most of the City players out there fought the battles of Millwall, Burnley, Preston, Reading etc.

Luton won because they passed the ball better, had more penetration, better balance and fewer weaknesses.

Luton won because they scored twice and we didn't score.

I've said it time and time again, we need to get behind the lads, regardless whether what's going on is right or wrong, when you signed up as being a football supporter, sticking through thick and thin came with the package.

I thought Maybury did a solid job on the right handside last season but he looked off the boil yesterday. He wasn't alone though, that's for sure. It didn't help him having an out of sorts Stearman behind him.

Do you reckon Rob Kelly had a secret bet going on there for a Luton win, i didnt see him encouraging the players all game and that's the worst i have ever seen us play. What was going on?

Its not that we lost the game i am so dissapointed, it was our embarrasing performance being shown to thousands of viewers that makes me down. People would have been laughing at us, Luton are one of the favourites to go down this season Now come on leicester lets have a big win on tuesday to put things right!

(we always beat Burnley at home)

I would love someone to explain this job that Maybury supposedly does so well.

I am perfectly happy with he and Stearman competing for the right back berth and right now Maybury's case has just grown stronger.

But midfield I ask, what does he do?. Nothing more than assist a defender to my eyes.

He's a poor mans Levi Porter. He is competent enough on the ball most times but doesn't have the pace to go round people and doesn't have Porter's vision and deftness of touch to assist his passing.

As for goal threat I doubt he had five shots since he took the role, one of which went in.

Indeed. My Aussie rules team has had the same coach/manager for 25 years. You have good years, you have bad years, but to call for a manager's head after one loss is pathetic.

Indeed.

And then these hysterical whingers will complain about the lack of atmosphere at the home games.

I can't see that, they're not close to being one of the better teams in the league, mid table at best. They've just lost their two of their best performers in the last couple of weeks in Howard and Nicholls so they're a worse off side than the one we beat towards the end of last season. The difference then was, our team set out to win the game and the players were determained enough to acheieve that to get out of the mess we were in.

It's about time we started giving Luton a little more credit for their win yesterday.

As both Reading and Liverpool found last season, Mike Newell has the knack of firing them up for games against bigger teams/clubs. Yesterday was no differerent. They had a game plan and it worked perfectly for them. There were similarities to what we used to do to other teams in the Premiership under MON.

Too many of our players have the quality but not necessarily the attitude. With the run of away games that we have coming up, RK must put that right as soon as possible. And he CAN do it - his record last season proves that.

Isn't it about time you dropped your fetish with Porter? It's not doing you or him any favours whatsoever.

I'm really impressed by the IT facilities in our local psychiatric units.

Nah Kelly Out

But if we win on Tuesday he'll be god again.

If we win on Tuesday we'll have won the league or at least secured a play-off spot...knowing some fickle fans on here....

If you have something to be optimistic about then good for you, I don't. Doesn't really mean I'm fickle.

Of course I'd be more up for getting myself into more debt to go to matches if we were winning, or playing good football. But that's because I have high standards and in particular, don't have more money than sense...Like some people on here.

I don't think anyone's called for his head. At least not seriously. It's just hard to get that through to Ultra the first time.

What's been called for is a more attacking approach with a balanced side.

If you think that's pathetic too then enjoy your season. Presumably if you're in Aussie, you won't actualy have to be there, which probably helps.

That simply isn't true. Many fans on here have asked whether he is up to the job, and have concluded the answer is no.

But at least I know it's not just MY posts you fail to read properly.

I rated him 5 I think, but but last season I couldn't see that he was doing anything wrong, he just had a bad game yesterday, like most of our players :pinch:
