Finnegan Posted 9 August 2006 Posted 9 August 2006 Anybody watching this? I was sat there thinking "yup, cool, Scouse fans really do travel well, good bunch, it'd be really great to be sat in that stand the atmosphere must be bri..." and christ almighty they're waving Lebonese flags? In light of current events that's not just controversial, that's just plain wrong. Sorry. Keep the politics out of the ground, boys.

I would agree with you on this, football is not the place for politicking!! Just ask Robbie Fowler!!

It'll be put down to that cheeky scouse wit You'd think someone with a bit of sense would have a word with the stewards! Cue scouser and sense jokes!
Finnegan Posted 9 August 2006 Author Posted 9 August 2006 Haha. Pleat, comentary genius: "He's playing well, playing the ball well, keeping his boots white". Wtf?
Alexikokopops Posted 9 August 2006 Posted 9 August 2006 Haha. Pleat, comentary genius: "He's playing well, playing the ball well, keeping his boots white". Wtf? I loved that, ha. "Keeping his boots white, playing on the touchline". Another favourite was, after the Haifa left back got booked, "It's Pennant's job to really harry him, try and take it round him, because any more bad challenges and he could be in real trouble... RED trouble". Snigger.
Finnegan Posted 9 August 2006 Author Posted 9 August 2006 He's so **** useless it's not even funny. Pleat, that is.
Deathside Posted 9 August 2006 Posted 9 August 2006 He's so **** useless it's not even funny. Pleat, that is. David Pleat has fúcked it up again

Why else would an Asian team be playing in a European competition?
Finnegan Posted 10 August 2006 Author Posted 10 August 2006 That's got nothing to do with what goes on in the stadium though, has it? I don't think either club or it's fans are in charge of FIFA's dividing up the football associations into their respective zones now, is it? If you're going to somehow make some vague justification for a bunch of Liverpool Football Club fans taunting their Israeli opposition with Lebanese flags, then at least do a better job than that.
Darren27 Posted 10 August 2006 Posted 10 August 2006 Fans taunt opposing teams and supporters using anything they think will get a reaction. Derby and their sheep antics, Forest just for being crap, Haifa for invading a neighbouring country. Dont see the difference myself.
Dr The Singh Posted 10 August 2006 Posted 10 August 2006 Anybody watching this? It's abit insensitive many innocent women and children have been killed from both sides (Israel\Lebannon), and many made homeless.......scouse whit is no excuse, people should have common sense. Some people are just ignorant c*nts. Comparing it to derby\Leic footballing rivalry is sad aswell, I don't see the analogy, Derby is not bombing us and people aren't being killed!!!
Finnegan Posted 10 August 2006 Author Posted 10 August 2006 What the Singh said. It's not ok to taunt someone with the potential death / risk of their families just because another team waves a plastic sheep at their rivals. When Leeds fans first sung 'Always look on the runway for ice' they were condemned sick, this one's no worse. Minutes before it comes on screen the comentary is discussing how involved Haifa is, how big an issue it will be to the fans and players and - oh look - a scouse with a Lebonese flag. If, say, after the London bombings - Cardiff fans were waving Iraqi or Afghanistani flags at Arsenal, Chelsea or Tottenham - you'd be up in arms about how the Welsh were just a load of ****s and how it's taking rivalries two far.

You don't see the difference between football banter and a conflict which has already claimed the lives of many?

Absolutely. Some fans just take it too far.. another example, which is a little different I accept (just like your one which the Leeds fans sang) is when a few of our lot sang 'we hear you ran from the Turkish' at Leeds fans. Singing about people dying is not funny. It's not big, it's not clever and it should be kept out of football.
LCFC-IAN Posted 10 August 2006 Posted 10 August 2006 Singing about people dying is not funny. It's not big, it's not clever and it should be kept out of football. Agreed
Lemon Harpic Posted 10 August 2006 Posted 10 August 2006 Singing about people dying is not funny. It's not big, it's not clever and it should be kept out of football. I agree with this in principle, but every rule has its exception... Harry Roberts is our friend, is our friend, is our friend, Harry Roberts is our friend, he shoots coppers Shoots the bastards, with his gun, with his gun Shoots the bastards, with his gun, Harry Roberts

If they really wanted to wind the away fans up they could have waved Palestinian flags.
Finnegan Posted 10 August 2006 Author Posted 10 August 2006 If they really wanted to wind the away fans up they could have waved Palestinian flags. Errr. Ok. That's not particually topical though, is it? I swear you just come up with the most retarded counter arguments you possibly can as some sort of, I dunno, challenge.

Except people have died in the conflict between Israel and Lebanon you moron. The goalkeeper that was on the bench for Haifa had his house bombed and totally destroyed on Saturday night, the waving of Lebanon flags is exactly on a par with calling Derby fans sheepshaggers, isn't it? Idiot

Unfortunately life is not so black and white, there is always another side to the story. And not everybody supports the IDF in what they are doing in the Leb. I bet redshirt sales are going thru the roof right now out there. Keep politics out of football you say, tell that to the old firm, the two have bin at it for decades. KTF ::
