I dont particularly like Tom Hanks' films much, but Toy Story is epic.

To be honest I've not seen a lot of them.

None of them really take my fancy, but I have been meaning to watch The Green Mile for about a year now.

Samilktray comes up with probably more slappable signature / avatar images than anyone. It's almost a skill. lol

And I just don't get the Tom Hanks hype. It's easy to be in a great film and not be a great actor and I'm not sure he's done that many that will go down as absolute classic performances. Forrest Gump you can take nothing away from, it's wonderful. But beyond that and probably Philadelphia?

Anyone could have played his part in Saving Private Ryan, the star of that film was technology. As a film that took massive steps to waving in the current era of technically brilliant films it was hugely noteworthy but it's vastly overrated as a result of that, it's almost the Citizen Kane of it's time.

Tom Hanks = The Green Mile, Saving Private Ryan, Philadelphia, Castaway, Big, Forrest Gump...

Bold = Fantastic films (5* Definately)

Italic = Bloody good films!

Green = One of the best films ever (IMO)

Yes! Green Mile - my favourite film ever (along with Crash). Could watch either of these at any time.

That's precisely why he is so good... he's not 'good looking', he's not hard/buff/ripped etc. He's Mr. Normal/Average/Every-man. But he does it so well... he's different in nearly all his films, but it's not jarring because he pulls it off so well.

It is a good film... but like you say the ending is THE most powerful EVER!!! But you really needed to see it in a cinema... it was just weird... everyone just sat there in silence for like half the credits... just sitting there... Best thing is I'd read the book so knew what was coming!

Who's talking about looks? He's a very, very average actor - I'm not talking about what he looks like, I couldn't care less.

Al Pacino is hardly pretty either - the difference being he's an absolutely staggering and powerfully emotional actor. And the next person who tells me he can only play cops and mafia guys will be feeling the blunt end of a film reel up their jaxie sideways.

Overhyped. Both Carlito Brigante and Michael Corleone would have kicked Tony Montana's ass. ;)

No!

I need to see Carlitos Way though.

But Scarface is the ultimat, 'From Nothing to Something' story for me, love it.

Wanna be footballer/gansta rapper? ;)

But you (and the rest of the 15-25 year old male market) miss is.. in the end he doesn't make it... he pisses it away! Just like the guy he takes over from warns him!

Yes, I have seen it, and yes I do realise this.

Carlito's Way is a much, much better film in my opinion. I like Scarface but he just makes a bit of a characature out of himself in it where as Carlito's a much classier character.

Falling down, one of the best films ever...fact!

 Best thing he's been in, certainly.

And my God. Does the world need ANOTHER Robin Hood film? Jesus. Russel Crow will be an even bigger cardboard cut out than Kevin Costner.
