On hols this week mate but not the enjoyable kind of holiday where you sit on a beach doing bugger all (How were the hols btw mate? ) No I've got loads of crap to sort out before the move to Northampton (I'm currently sorting through stuff from when I was 12 - Let's just say I'm not great at throwing stuff out!) plus I've got a stag do to help plan and some law to learn for my professional studies. We've got some yukkas or whatever they are called. They're nice. It's not too bad being back, I've been on the phone most of the morning returning calls people have been making for me last week. Come tomorrow I'll be sick of the place. Ready to plan our away day party?

Rincewind Posted 4 September 2006 Posted 4 September 2006 just dug a playstaion out.. its the original nothing hi tech for me. just tried it on a b/w tv/radio that i bought a few weeks ago. got it working but not brilliant picture. also eating a microwave curry and typing messages with one finger hence the inability to utilise the shift key for uppercase letters. apart from all this i am doing bugger all.

Scow Posted 4 September 2006 Posted 4 September 2006 I'm currently half way through having 2 weeks off from work. As a rule at my work place, we have to book 2 consecutive weeks off at some point during the year using our annual holiday allocation for audit purposes. So I'm doing fock all.

Do you know why that is? It's because as auditors we're trained to be sceptical of those who don't take their annual leave in blocks of more than one week because they are most likely to be guilty of fraud, as they don't want to go away for long periods and leave someone to discover their dirty work! So there we go.

So there we go. Auditors are a bunch of tossers then. Already knew why they do it, it's just frustrating. We're only given 5 weeks allocation, so 2 weeks in one go doesn't allow much flexibility for booking the odd day off when you need it. Like applying for new jobs.

Newcastle_Fox Posted 4 September 2006 Posted 4 September 2006 Been generally doing nothing as finally found a full time job which starts next Tuesday. Makes a change not to be applying/searching for jobs which i have been mostly doing for the past 2 months since finishing uni. Gonna be a challenging job as I will be in sole charge of a £60M turnover company's IT system. So frantically trying to learn about Windows Server 2000 and Exchange for their 9 servers and 60 machines attached. Have little experience with servers though do have some initial training with an existing externally hired consultant for 3 1/2 weeks, then its me alone.

I prefer "take delivery of" as this can be open-ended to include sitting there while the fat old sandwich woman sidles up and plonks her load down on my desk (and leaves the sandwiches in the kitchen.)
