Daggers Posted 24 September 2006 Posted 24 September 2006 I'm sorry what?! I've still to read about ANYONE backing Kelly at the present time... I think the last post by Cobbo and DanTheFox fall into that camp. Oh, Dan the Fox, I do not mind being called dissatisfied...because I bloody well am...but fickle? Who are you to call someone fickle when they attend matches and you don't? Personally, I believe, someone is better disposed to make comments about the team and the manager if they actually watch the games live and in their entirety.

Personally, I believe, someone is better disposed to make comments about the team and the manager if they actually watch the games live and in their entirety. I've already had this debate with someone before, and I disagree. This particular circumstance can be related to almost any like sport in the world - if a team does badly some fans dash around frantically looking for anyone they can pinpoint the blame on and call for their head. But realistically, what good does that do? There are some circumstances where there is an obvious shortcoming by any one party, but this isn't one of those situations. I think it's important to look at the situation rationally and decide on appropriate measures to improve the play. That would be improving the midfield IMO, and I'm sure Kelly knows that. He's proven an ability to adapt in recent games, including the Ipswich line-up after we were tonked by Burnley. And he'll do it again. Calling for his head is a tad rash at this point.
lcfc_jme Posted 24 September 2006 Posted 24 September 2006 ...I believe, someone is better disposed to make comments about the team and the manager if they actually watch the games live and in their entirety. Which less and less people are going to be doing if we continue to play the system we currently use, with the same tactics and same group of players. The way we're headed atm, we're going to go into the Christmas/New Year period looking like 1 of a possible 4 teams who are going to be fighting against the drop to League 1. However this time, based on current performances, personnel and tactics, I don't think we'll survive. When we do drop to League 1, attendances will fall even further, finances will be at an even lower point than they are atm, and we'd struggle to attract half the number of fans we currently have.
Daggers Posted 24 September 2006 Posted 24 September 2006 I've already had this debate with someone before, and I disagree. Good, because you're not having the debate with me. You have no input, it doesn't matter to you in the slightest whether Citeh stay in the Championship or not. You didn't sit in you room yesterday in a state of dazed depression having just witnessed a capitulation of effort...we did. You can theorise until it comes out of your arse - but I'll not be listening to any of it until it is obvious that you are hurting as much as the rest of us. I love this club but it's obvious that the players don't. In fact I'd swear that half of them don't even like ****ing football. Someone has to change their perspective and Kelly has demonstrated that he can not do that. He is another example of a coach who couldn't upgrade to manager...it was worth a punt but the time has come to say "thanks for the effort, you're a nice bloke, goodbye."

I just don’t see how the club would cope in League 1, the stadium is half empty now (maybe an exaggeration), but honestly who wants to get a season ticket to see a struggling side battle it out against the likes Huddersfield, S****horpe or Northampton… it’s not a matter of being disloyal, it’s simply why spend your money on going to a sparsely populated stadium to see a shoddy game of football, I can see a fair few still going and all credit to them… but if the club goes down I don’t see how it’ll get back up any time soon, the half decent players will be sold, decent clubs will raid the academy and we could well find ourselves stuck with hardly any cash coming in… …and this is why we simply cannot allow ourselves to be relegated and why we have to sort it out! City haven’t struggled at this level, for this length of time at any point in our history, we’ve always been a “yo-yo club†a club that does well in the second tier and sometimes pops into the first tier and does respectably and some times even better, we’ve never been where we are now and considering the position of our club and our potential reach we shouldn’t be.

Pfft, I'll have all the input I bloody well please. I think thusfar he has demonstrated he can, and that's why I support him to stay on. Doesn't matter in the slightest? What planet are you living on? I did sit in my room yesterday and I was pissed, as per many other 'non-input' fans in the match thread. My AFL team copped a one from bottom finish the season passed, and likewise heaps of tools were calling for the coach's head. Despite the fact that time and time again he has come through for us. It only takes a couple of bad matches and everyone is screaming fire and brimstone. I prefer to stick with current arrangements if nothing better looks like its coming along, and if things look like they can be on the up which I think they will here too.

This is what I was attempting to get at, but just couldn't put it into words. We're pretty much fooked if we fall down to League 1. We'll see an unprecedented amount of departures, both first team and Academy, and we'd be left with (the sh!t) half of what we have currently. With less finances than we have in this division, we'd have no money to bring in quality players, or players capable of catapulting us back into the second tier, and we'd be condemned to rotting away in League One until we just died completely Seriously though, if things aren't sorted in good time, I could see us still being called a "yo-yo club", only we'd be bouncing up and dropping down between the Championship and League One.
Daggers Posted 24 September 2006 Posted 24 September 2006 I could see us still being called a "yo-yo club", only we'd be bouncing up and dropping down between the Championship and League One. We are a yo-yo club, it's just we do it between the top two flights, historically. I don't want us to turn into a Grimsby.
DanTheFoxBhoy Posted 24 September 2006 Posted 24 September 2006 *ignore user* Sweet, one less voice of reason you have to worry about.
lcfc_jme Posted 24 September 2006 Posted 24 September 2006 We are a yo-yo club, it's just we do it between the top two flights, historically. I don't want us to turn into a Grimsby. As I have both experienced and gathered by watching videos and talking to older Foxes. Thing is, with current lack of finances, the debts, no investor(s) and a setup of underperforming w*nkers, we are likely to be known as a "yo-yo team" team for the Championship and League One. And it all seems so long ago now that we were enjoying victory in the play-offs, automatic promotion, playing in the Prem and having some of the best support and most entertaining football in the country
Head Honcho Posted 24 September 2006 Posted 24 September 2006 That's the whole point though, we can't afford "experienced players with a bit of quality about them, who can provide leadership" So the alternative is experience that is crap or youth with potential. I know which I prefer. I don't get it There are teams with just as much debt as us in this division(Cardiff and Leeds to name just two) yet they seem to be able to finance the buying of decent players! Why can't we?
Foxhateram Posted 24 September 2006 Posted 24 September 2006 we are playing much much better than this time last year and there has been alot of improvement this year. people you are all so fickle and easily led. We dont need to complain and start saying kelly out after a few bad performances we need to get behind the side and get them through this! all we need is someone who can put it in the back of the net, and score the chances we are creating, i beleive as long as were still creating the chances we are, then eventually it will click, and no we wont be relegated!! im willing to put my head on the line and say that! so comon people ffs lightne up, and support, not moan!!

Hullfox Posted 24 September 2006 Posted 24 September 2006 I'm in the minority as usual but I reckon Kelly will turn this round.

And what chances exactly are we creating?? Were creating near enough jack all through the middle, and our right side is inept. The only one showing signs of creating anything at the moment is Porter...
Chrysalis Posted 24 September 2006 Posted 24 September 2006 if I was the chairman I would be negotiating with curbishley right now.
Thracian Posted 24 September 2006 Posted 24 September 2006 if I was the chairman I would be negotiating with curbishley right now. I don't think he'd come and I'd much sooner have Keegan. We need some personality at City. The place needs waking up. It needs some excitement. Some adventure. A shedding of the shackles. I remember City playing Charlton in the Cup. Charlton were shit. I've never really enjoyed watching them despite the results they've had.
lcfc_jme Posted 24 September 2006 Posted 24 September 2006 I don't think he'd come and I'd much sooner have Keegan. What makes you think that a club such as ours in its current state could attract Keegan?

I think we've more chance of snagging AC then KK. ........but somebody with Keegan's attitude to how the game's played will do for me

lcfc_jme Posted 24 September 2006 Posted 24 September 2006 Don't think he's got the desire in him anymore! Same could be said for most of the staff connected with our club, especially the first team
Head Honcho Posted 24 September 2006 Posted 24 September 2006 Same could be said for most of the staff connected with our club, especially the first team True I honestly think our best option would be Brian Little he has the ability to coach and manage at this level certainly and at the top arguably.
