Ric Flair Posted 9 October 2006 Posted 9 October 2006 I have a feeling it will be Neil Shipperley and i'd like that. If we are going down the Blackburn route then he might have a look at Matt Derbyshire, although surely Dodds is as good as he is from his youth exploits. Collymore would be the dream signing, although it's not going to happen is it?

Guest Posted 9 October 2006 Posted 9 October 2006 What's the point in getting strikers in, when behind them is this void known as the midfield?
The People's Hero Posted 9 October 2006 Posted 9 October 2006 I thought Rob Kelly had been in football a long time? How is he not seeing the problem? Is he too close? Too involved? Can he not see the wood for the trees?

Ric Flair Posted 9 October 2006 Posted 9 October 2006 What's the point in getting strikers in, when behind them is this void known as the midfield? But that explains it. Kelly obviously doesn't see a problem in an incompetent midfield and a defence that hoofs the ball all the while. Which answers my question i've wanted to know. Which was, is Kelly asking the players to hoof the ball or is it the players going against his wishes? And if so, then why is he not punishing them for doing so. If he wants a new striker it must be that he thinks the strikers aren't performing and nothing to do with the fact his defence and midfield are the problem.

I thought it was becasue Matt Fryatt was injured?
Ric Flair Posted 9 October 2006 Posted 9 October 2006 What annoys me, is that we must have some funds available. Funds that could have got Lee Hendrie who would be much more influential than a striker who will have to chase long balls raining down on them all game.
Ric Flair Posted 9 October 2006 Posted 9 October 2006 I thought it was becasue Matt Fryatt was injured? But we have Hume, O'Grady, Elvis and Dodds to come in. The problem why we aren't scoring isn't because of our attackers but because of the football we play.
The People's Hero Posted 9 October 2006 Posted 9 October 2006 What do you mean ?? I mean why has he done precisely fu ck all to address the big problem with the side whilst he tinkers with the rest of the team who are only having problems because the midfield is just a huge stinking pile of nothingness.

Yeah I agree with you, but I don't think he has much choice at the moment for strikers. I think the midfield is a whole different issue, but for all we know they may have a solution in the pipe line? But if we can get a half decent striker in then I’m all for it because you can hardly say Fryatt had been playing particularly well can you?

You can hardly say that any of our strikers have been doing any good? That's not a coincidence, it's because of the way we play. The only striker I could see doing any good with our style is a 6ft 5 thug who's great in the air.
The People's Hero Posted 9 October 2006 Posted 9 October 2006 I don't know mate. I'm not sure I care anymore!

Exactly, its bloody annoying.

Master Fox Posted 9 October 2006 Posted 9 October 2006 I don't know mate. I'm not sure I care anymore! Chin up mate! Look on the bright side at least it won't be Elvis
Bert Posted 9 October 2006 Posted 9 October 2006 Birra big Dunc, then Nils long balls might come of use.
Ric Flair Posted 9 October 2006 Posted 9 October 2006 Well so be it!! Big Dunc it is then.... Or The Shipperley!
The People's Hero Posted 9 October 2006 Posted 9 October 2006 Chin up mate! Look on the bright side at least it won't be Elvis Indeed.. that's good news I suppose. I think we'll beat Southampton anyway.
