Shum Posted 9 October 2006 Posted 9 October 2006 Linkage Assistant manager Mike Stowell has today confirmed that the Foxes are on the search for a striker after it was revealed that Matty Fryatt faces at least a further fortnight out with an ankle injury. Fryatt picked up the knock following an innocuous incident during a training session at Belvoir Drive ahead of the Birmingham City clash. And a scan has now revealed that the player faces at least a further two weeks on the sidelines. But Stowell confirmed that manager Rob Kelly had been given the green light by the Board to seek a replacement on loan for the injured star, and that the wheels had already been set in motion. He said: "We are actively looking to bring someone in. "The Board are backing us, as they always do. That's encouraging. "Rob (Kelly) is on the case and we have got a few irons in the fire, but obviously we are not going to reveal any names at this moment in time. "We are constantly on the lookout for players to improve us and help us. "New players coming in always give the whole squad a boost. We are a bit thin on the ground on the striker front and that is one area that is prime for us and one that we are looking at." And on the Fryatt front, Stowell confirmed that inflammation around the ankle had slowed down the diagnosis process. He added: "It has taken a while to get an assessment on Matty. He has had a fair bit of swelling from his injury and we have only just been able to get him scanned. "It is looking as though he is going to be out for at least another two weeks. That's disappointing for us and disappointing for the lad. "But he's keen and he is desperate to get fit. If he got back any sooner it would obviously be a big benefit for us, but at the moment it is looking like he will probably be out for at least another two weeks." Stowell also revealed that midfielder Stephen Hughes had picked up a knock in training. "Stephen has a slight thigh strain and that is just keeping him out of full training at the minute. He is still able to do a bit of work and he isn't far off."
Ric Flair Posted 9 October 2006 Posted 9 October 2006 Nothing new then. Fryatt will be out for the already reported 2 months and Asaba will miss an open goal against Southampton on saturday.
Fox in a Box Posted 9 October 2006 Posted 9 October 2006 To put substance to this then.... Rob Kellys Kid plays for the team my brother is coach for and Rob Kelly was on the blower constantly looking for a forward! This was last week.. So I think It might be a loan deal he's trying to get in to cover for Fryup
lookwhaticando Posted 9 October 2006 Posted 9 October 2006 "Replacement on loan" hopefully rules Asaba out.

Head Honcho Posted 9 October 2006 Posted 9 October 2006 In the interview on World he says that Asaba is a couple of weeks away from match fitness, and that Farrelly has been let go. He should fit into our squad quite nicely then
Jon the Hat Posted 9 October 2006 Posted 9 October 2006 In the interview on World he says that Asaba is a couple of weeks away from match fitness, and that Farrelly has been let go. One down...
Tubes Posted 9 October 2006 Posted 9 October 2006 hopefully the loan will be untill the end of the season and we let asaba go
Mark Posted 9 October 2006 Posted 9 October 2006 Kelly should be looking at Paul Gallacher at Blackburn, he'll have brought him through the academy at Blackburn and we couldn't really go wrong with him. I don't know if he's in the first team at Blackburn yet though? Whoever it is, I'm just interested to know who's going to create a chance for this loanee.
lildave3 Posted 9 October 2006 Posted 9 October 2006 I say Morrison, he's reportedly fell out with Taylor at Palace, and he has proven he can score goals at this level.
Fox in a Box Posted 9 October 2006 Posted 9 October 2006 What about David Johnson at forest! I actually rate his ability.....but........a tree......
The People's Hero Posted 9 October 2006 Posted 9 October 2006 We should get a striker in on loan and then inexplicably sign the underperforming wan ker for £350,000.
OBO Posted 9 October 2006 Posted 9 October 2006 PLEASE let it be someone good who'll score goals! I think Morrison would be quite a good loan signing, don't know what his wages are like though...
Bert Posted 9 October 2006 Posted 9 October 2006 What about David Johnson at forest! I actually rate his ability.....but........a tree...... I heard he was retiring.. ???? PLEASE let it be someone good who'll score goals! I think Morrison would be quite a good loan signing, don't know what his wages are like though... Would be a good loan signing, doubt we'lll get him tbh.
MBK Posted 9 October 2006 Posted 9 October 2006 i say there's jensen from fulham his wages are not sky high....really honest who comes in must not only have premiership experience....a good player who s recovering from injury..............jensen s the guy, he s an midfielder-striker as far as i know
Master Fox Posted 9 October 2006 Posted 9 October 2006 We should get a striker in on loan and then inexplicably sign the underperforming wan ker for £350,000. Surely not Elvis?
Head Honcho Posted 9 October 2006 Posted 9 October 2006 Theo Walcott from Arsenal? That'd be nice but Craig Lindfield from Liverpool would be more our budget! He's got no chance of a premier start at present and he's lightning in front of goal albeit at a lower level. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEsHKYuecQg
Milky Posted 9 October 2006 Posted 9 October 2006 What about David Johnson at forest! I actually rate his ability.....but........a tree...... he's retired
Head Honcho Posted 9 October 2006 Posted 9 October 2006 What about David Johnson at forest! I actually rate his ability.....but........a tree...... Think I'd prefer Don Johnson
