Master Fox Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 England are rubbish! We're going to lose Told you you So....!
The People's Hero Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 I don't think Neville was to blame for the own goal it was a back pass that hit a clump of grass and went over Robinson's boot. I blame the manager if you play negative unispiring football where you're forever passing it back to the goalie law of averages says it going to go in eventually. Did we have a shot on goal? can't remember one!!! With Carrick, Parker and Lampard in midfield we were as good as playing 8 defensive out field players, not a gram of urgency apart from Rooney who at least looked he gave a fook. Very little skill, no creativety = garbage. I feel sorry for all those poor sods in the stands. I'd agree that Neville wasn't completely to blame, but that said, players are coached these days (at least I always was at a MUCH lower level) that backpasses should be played in a way so that if the Keeper does make a mess of it, it doesn't end up as an own goal. It's common sense, just like laying it on for the Keeper's stronger foot. Having said that, this is Robinson's fault. As a Keeper, when kicking, it's vital you hit the fu cking ball.

As an individual back pass you're correct they both got it wrong, the tactics exacerbated (word of the day) the situation by forcing them to rely on too many negative moves and back passes. As you say Neville should have aimed to MISS the bloody goal. I guess in the scheme of things it was irrelevant, unless goal difference comes into play as there was no way we were going to get anything out of that shower of shite on the night.

I do know that anyone who even threatens to think like that shouldn't be managing England.
Manwell Pablo Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 The goal was bizzare, I don't think you can blame either of them TBH. We got what we deserved any way, we were shite. I'm not going to bash Mclaren (I did enough of that when he was employed) and the team because we lost to a top 16 European side on a ground they've never lost on Tatics were wrong, players were wrong and we lost. Oh well shit happens. Back to Robinson, now the first goal was his fault, good a keeper as he is, he's always had the aerial abilty of a sack of spuds. Exhibit A Go on Paul...Jump
Poakey Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 I feel sorry for Robinson as i think he was our best player by a mile on the night.
Thracian Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 One of those things unquestionably but, although I only watched the first half, virtually even time Neville passed the ball it was backwards. If the ball's at the other end and outfield players weren't forever checking out backwards, then goals like that wouldn't be conceded. There is so much purposeless passing in football these days it makes me cringe. It goes right back to the Allen Wade coaching bible from years back and the problem with that guy was that his arguments were flawed from the off. You end up with a lot of trouble when the ideas in any bible are flawed because they based on misunderstanding, misinterpretation or, in Wade's case, false logic.
Manwell Pablo Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 I feel sorry for Robinson as i think he was our best player by a mile on the night. He did make some good saves, but you can't deny his postioning and lack of abilty to get off the floor were at fault for Eduardo's goal.

I think it was a brilliant header which would have beat most keepers, what anoyed me about that goal was how did he manage to get a header in between 2 of our centre backs?I dont know how tall eduardo is but hes a hell of alot smaller then Terry.
The People's Hero Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 Because our centre backs are overrated and were playing in an unfamiliar formation/system (apparently, playing with an extra defender means NONE of them can compete/win the header). Actually, scrub that, it's because they're a bunch of wan kers.
coale39 Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 Lets just forget about England and focus on Leicester! Oh yeah there shit as well

We will have to agree to disagree then, IMO he should either stand on his line in the centre of the goal or come for the cross, not mince around in no mans land. The defending was shocking as well I will give you that.
Finnegan Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 Haha. Hahaha. Hahahaha. Haha. Hahahaha. Haha. Que your "blah blah at least we qualified for the world cup" speeches, boys, I'm currently grinning ear to ear. Not really 'cos you lost, but because the moan in on 606 was finally full of the REAL answer: "Perhaps we're just not good enough..." Maybe... maybe.

We lost to a serious top 16 footballing nation away from home who have never lost a competitve game there in their international history. You beat Butlins at home.
