when would you want promotion?

Ok, so in a completely magically world where we can have everything our own way, MM comes and and buy us.

Now what would be your ideal situation:

option 1: finish 6th this seaosn, and win the playoffs, but then we will probably have a very difficult season next year in hte premiership where we will probably get beaten alot.

option 2: finish safe this season, make a few additions and have an awesome season nx year so that we finsh strongly in either of the top 2 positions, altho it would be one more year in the championship.

Personally, i would go for option 2, i would just love to have 1 season where we beat nearly every1 and we dont have to talk all the time about our crap management etc.

What d'all think? :)

Pre-motion?

Is that the stage of consideration as a pre-cursor to 'motion' and actually doing anything?

If so, Fryatt and some other seems stuck in 'pre-motion' perpetually at the moment.

Undoubteldy option 2. A period of development lasting two or three years even. Then promotion. Examples being:

Wigan

Reading

Preston - I believe Preston will go straight up, add judiciously to their squad, and stay up.

OK Wigan and Reading have sugar daddies in the form of Whelan and Majedski, but I think I'm right in saying neither spend absurd amounts whilst in the Champo. Wigan, for example, did well to sign a player like Kavanagh from Cardiff for 750k who then anchored their midfield during their promotion season.

I'd far rather follow this route than the Watford / Sheff Utd one season in the sun approach.

How about option 3.

We run away with the league and are unbeaten all season,Henry and others decide to join us.

That would be magical. :pinch:

I'd go for option 1. I want us to go up through the play-offs, beating Derby in the final thanks to a controversial penalty in the last minute of extra-time (scored by Elvis). :D

I think I remember hearing that you actually get more money from getting promoted via the playoffs than you do for getting automatic promotion, so we'd have a lot of money to spend on making the squad better (and it would obviously need to be a LOT better).

Plus imagine the joy of such a drastic turnaround resulting in us winning the playoffs again. And who wouldn't love a rollercoaster like that?!

That would be lovely....

Until we got spanked by everyone and their mother next season.

Like I said, the sqaud would need to be A LOT BETTER!

Yes... and just having the money doesn't mean that we could get the all the players we need to make sure we survived in just one summer spending spree. Or that they had the time to learn how to play together so that we didn't look clueless and inept.

It amazes me that people are even thinking about promotion. Surely this thread should have the title 'If We Stay Up'

No one said promotion to the premier!!! ;)

True.

I'll be hoping we come straight back up from the First.

Obviously option 2 but I reckon City will do a Forest / Grimsby... you know regularly been tipped for promotion but fail miserably.. fans still expecting it but we are just deterioating and soon we will become League 1/2 no hopers... At this rate the Foxes are surely doomed?

*It was painful to write that*

I'm afraid so Danny.

I'm glad someone still lives in the real world!

definetly option 2.

also, if we dont get into the premiership next season then I'm going to all the away matches (and a few home matches) next season so beating a lot of teams on the road would just be awesome too! :P

you never know though you see, it could be the season after next or maybe even the season after that until we finally get promoted.

Winning the playoffs would be so much better than winning the league automatically.

To be on a winning side at Wembley in the playoff final would be amazing.

To then get to the Prem, with all the glory and money that comes with it would be brilliant for the club.
