DB11 Posted 2 December 2006 Posted 2 December 2006 I am going to try to be positive about this afternoon.................................................. still trying....................................................................................still trying......................................................Found one! This game should signal the end of the RK era!
Joe. Posted 2 December 2006 Posted 2 December 2006 OK here it comes, I've been saving this one ever since the match finished. To be quite honest the scoreline flatttered them a lot and we didn't play bad enough to lose 4-1. Let's look at these points: 1) Kelly do the right thing and put somebody else as captain. Paddy is a terrible captain and never leads by example. He continuously gets his famous pointless bookings which toay eventually earned him a red. 2) We were playing against 12 men. Rob Styles was an absolute joke and a half. What a crap referee. First he gives a penalty which in my eyes shouldn't have been given, then he deflects the ball into Chris Brunt's path who shoots and scores. All day he gave shocking decisions such as the Paddy Mac sending off. The second booking wasn't even a foul. It looked to me as if Paddy tried to not foul him by avoiding him. 3) We didn't really play that bad. At 2-1 down, I honestly thought we would score to make it 2-2, and then maybe even sneak a winner. 4) We were beaten by superb strikes and individual brilliance. Once McAuley made the fatal error it was game over. 5) I don't think Elvis is as bad a player as everyone says he is. There were far worse players out there than him. He holds the ball up pretty well and wins freekicks in some good positions. Yes we all know he's not Thierry Henry but he's not that bad.
ceebeefox Posted 2 December 2006 Posted 2 December 2006 anyone agree that McCarthy should lose the captaincy? Captaincy and place. He didn't win a header all game, positionally he was all over the place, and what pisses me off more than anything is HE thinks he can play. I've played with loud mouthed so called organisers like him before and they get found out............. EVENTUALLY.
Daggers Posted 2 December 2006 Posted 2 December 2006 5) I don't think Elvis is as bad a player as everyone says he is. There were far worse players out there than him. He holds the ball up pretty well and wins freekicks in some good positions. Yes we all know he's not Thierry Henry but he's not that bad. I respect your opinion, but I wouldn't trust Elvis to hold my place in a queue - let alone have responsibility for holding the ball anymore. He misjudges the game, ebbs and flows in his committment and his passing - oh my God - his passing. But that's alright because at least as a striker he can put the ball in the bac....oh ****.

But he's better than Fryatt at the moment. And past Fryatt there's nobody else really.
ceebeefox Posted 2 December 2006 Posted 2 December 2006 Ok just got back fro the game so here goes. 1 we were not 3 goals worse than them. 2 three of the best strikes you will see all season 3 we reacted well to the sending off and for a while were the better team. ok so there's the positives. but 1 why did it take us to be 2 goals and a man down to find the enthusiasm to start really taking them on? for this I blame Kelly. lack of motivational skill and lack of ambition. 2 quality lacking in almost every position. midfield especially bad though to be fair hughes wasn't too bad. 3 why was tiatto subbed. and not low? if injured ok if not a terribe error by Kelly. 4 mccarthy should not be captain. he shows no real leadership on the pitch and would not have been sent off had he not been booked for dissent in the first half. also his apparent refusal to leave the pitch may well land him in trouble. 5 we were at home but yet again were so negative we did not have a single shot at goal for the entire 1st half! this is not acceptable. 6 no options up front. if the reserves are not good enough then Kelly should bury the hatchet with de vries and recall him. we simply don't have any other options until january. yes I know most of us on here think he's rubbish but he at least scored 10 goals last season and I don't see Hammond fryatt or o'grady doing that at present. 7 as fans i fear we must accept this season is another relegation struggle even if the MM takeover happens as it is clear we need at least 5 -7 more players to e even competitive in the upper reaches of this league. finally should kelly go? probably yes though it is far from clear what anyone else coulsd achieve long term with the current crop of players. i remember both mcclintock and pleat's sides and this lot are the worst by a considerable distance. Good summing up there but l have to say that the only problem with Pleat's team was Pleat and his coaching staff. If we could roll back time would we not want Osman and Walsh as centre backs, Mauclen and McCallister in midfield, Tommy Wright out wide and Mike Newell up front??????????? That side would do well in the over rated Prem now.
Daggers Posted 2 December 2006 Posted 2 December 2006 But he's better than Fryatt at the moment. And past Fryatt there's nobody else really. The main reason I decided to go today and not do all the jobs outside that Mrs DB has been bitching on about for the last four weeks? Dodds. I thought I'd get to see Dodds run out and I thought the change may bring a goal. It was the one scrap of optimism I had for the game. Colour me stupider .

Something just tells me that Dodds wouldn't be able to change anything if it is just hoofed up to him. Iw wouldn't mind seeing him to see how he gets on but it is unlikely that it will happen anytime soon. <_<

I totally agree and I think you've summed up the game very well. To be honest, although it was poor at times, I don't believe we played anywhere near as badly as the scoreline suggests. In fact, I thought it was a much more dynamic performance than we have seen of late. I even felt Josh Low did ok. Trouble was the ref was truly shocking, the worst I've witnessed. Ok, so not everything was down to the ref, but my word he was bad. I've never heard the crowd so worked up as when he gave that penalty - in itself a dreadful decision but even worse coming as a result of an even more abysmal decision over the corner. There should be an inquiry over Stiles's performance today.
Milky Posted 2 December 2006 Posted 2 December 2006 How were the prawn sandwiches? sod all that. we sat in the "players lounge" to read the programme and watch some of the spurs game, then spent the rest of the afternoon up in the stands to try and stay away from all that bullshit. i was sat in front of barber! i was so tempted to abuse the sheep shagging idiot. I've asked my bro to get the old tickets back, this vip crap isn't for me.
Barry Trotter Posted 2 December 2006 Posted 2 December 2006 All people that were there you can't 100% blame RK, Afterall didn't the referee have a key part in there first 2 goals?
ceebeefox Posted 2 December 2006 Posted 2 December 2006 All people that were there you can't 100% blame RK, Afterall didn't the referee have a key part in there first 2 goals? I don't blame RK for anything , but this club has been run on the cheap for too long and when Milan comes sadly because of lack of transfer nous he should not be allowed to spend the cash. We need a safe pair of hands. I wonder what Joe Royle could do with a bit of cash?? He's never had any whereever he's been.
Barry Trotter Posted 2 December 2006 Posted 2 December 2006 However I would prefer somebody more expereienced to deal with Milan's Millions. What about the rumour about Jamie Rednapp coming in?
Joe. Posted 2 December 2006 Posted 2 December 2006 However I would prefer somebody more expereienced to deal with Milan's Millions. What about the rumour about Jamie Rednapp coming in? Have you just contradicted yourself? You say you want a more experienced manager but then suggest Redknapp?
Barry Trotter Posted 2 December 2006 Posted 2 December 2006 Have you just contradicted yourself? You say you want a more experienced manager but then suggest Redknapp? Unrealated (Redknapp), I don't want him in.
Joe. Posted 2 December 2006 Posted 2 December 2006 Unrealated (Redknapp), I don't want him in. Sorry misunderstanding. I agree, we ned somebody experienced who knows what they are doing tactically and in the transfer market *cough* Curbs *cough*
LCFCKenz Posted 2 December 2006 Posted 2 December 2006 i think that it was a penalty because josh low kicked him in the head, anywhere else on the pitch it would have been a foul, so why not a penalty? The ref did have a crap game though!!
Wils Posted 2 December 2006 Posted 2 December 2006 What a heap of Bollocks. And ive only just got home ,the ref didnt help but we cant really blame the ref for our performance.Serious changes needed.
Joe. Posted 2 December 2006 Posted 2 December 2006 What a heap of Bollocks. And ive only just got home ,the ref didnt help but we cant really blame the ref for our performance.Serious changes needed. We keep saying that every week but it's pointless. Kelly can't see anything past crap.
Wils Posted 2 December 2006 Posted 2 December 2006 We keep saying that every week but it's pointless. Kelly can't see anything past crap. Well he needs to. And quick.
OBO Posted 2 December 2006 Posted 2 December 2006 "Da da da da, fooking useless" about summed it up. Paddy Mac's sending off was probably the most stupid one I've seen for a Leicester player for ages. Absolutely needless foul, maybe a bit of a soft yellow I suppose, but I think a lot of ref's would have shown it. All drastically downhill from there really, aside from an exciting ten minutes where Elvis was unlucky not to score. The corner/penalty decisions were absolutely ridiculous, and the ref deflecting the ball to Brunt to score their second was an absolute sickener too, but unlike Derby last week I really think there's no way we can try and blame it on bad decisions. We were just awful.
lildave3 Posted 2 December 2006 Posted 2 December 2006 We had 10 good minutes today. All caused by a lucky deflection, you then think our luck has changed and things are looking up, but no. They go on to score 2 more and we have a man sent off.
Chimp Posted 2 December 2006 Posted 2 December 2006 i think that it was a penalty because josh low kicked him in the head, anywhere else on the pitch it would have been a foul, so why not a penalty? The ref did have a crap game though!! I thought the ref was having a great game... until the penalty incident. Which, most absolutely, was not a penalty. JL was making a genuine attempt to clear the ball and he did not raise his foot higher than waist height. Even if he had seen the Sheff Wed player coming in to head the ball, it was right in front of goal in the 6 yard box, he had to make the attempt to clear it. There was no intent to cause injury. It was an absolutely shocking decision. As for the second goal, all I can ask is why the hell was the ref inside the box in amongst the players? He should have been standing a few yards outside the box. As it was, he set up the Sheff Weds player perfectly for the shot, put it on a plate for him. I'm still furious.

It know what you mean, it was like a farse. He awards a pen, sends off one of our players then assists their second goal. Horrible. Nothing will be done about it though, it never is. Outstanding save from Logan at one point, can't really blame him for the goals although in some cases his positioning could have been better... but really the fault for the last two goals lies with the centre-backs, especially McAuley for the 3rd, both him and Kisnorbo had nightmares of games, while McCarthy was rash (soft second booking).

I wonder about the positioning. Goalkeeper's positions can be dictated by people in front of them and we are getting far too many plays in and around the wrong box. Some are nothing bnut a nuisance - like Low. When Logan has the authority he'll make sure they sod off and keep his lines of vision clear. We need to defend further up in general and I'm beginning to feel we don't because no-one wants to see their lack of pace exposed at the back. Watch how high the Youth team defends on Wednesday. They'll be so far up the opposition's arses they'll need Davy lamps.
