reynard Posted 2 December 2006 Posted 2 December 2006 Here is a list of the current players good enough for the upper reaches of the championship ??????
Fez of Mahrez Posted 2 December 2006 Posted 2 December 2006 Patrick Kisnorbo. Iain Hume. If they were in the higher reaches of the Championship, they'd have better players around them and they wouldn't look out of place. IMO.

Agreed, I might add Fryatt & stearman but no player looks good enough for the prem!!
Libertine Posted 2 December 2006 Posted 2 December 2006 Hume and Kisnorbo definately. Oh and Josh Low.
JoeyB Posted 2 December 2006 Posted 2 December 2006 LOgan can become a great keeper hume and kisnorbo need better players to make the better stearman and levi have the ablity to become ace too also i think that weso could become good to

Libertine Posted 2 December 2006 Posted 2 December 2006  Ace?!?!?!? wtf does that mean? 1 or 11 usually. But that'd mean a keeper or left winger.
lildave3 Posted 2 December 2006 Posted 2 December 2006  Ace?!?!?!? wtf does that mean? Means awesome, quality, brilliant. Didn't think you'd know it...

Libertine Posted 2 December 2006 Posted 2 December 2006 Wait a minute...he actually plays left wing. Darn it. Darn it all.

Leonisco Posted 2 December 2006 Posted 2 December 2006 Can't believe no-one's mentioned Matty Fryatt. At the end of last season he was being hailed as the saviour, potentially one of the best strikers we've ever had. He goes on a bit of a bad run, which happens to everyone, and suddenly he's being dismissed as lazy and overrated. (I know no-one's actually said that on this particular thread, but it's been mentioned on others).

Lacks the basic ingredients to be a real top-drawer player, he'll never have that pace or aerial threat that marks out the top strikers. We can only go on what we've seen, and this season Fryatt has been lazy and overrated.
Swedging Posted 2 December 2006 Posted 2 December 2006 and suddenly he's being dismissed as lazy and overrated. Let's make that fat, lazy and over-rated.
l444ry Posted 2 December 2006 Posted 2 December 2006 Let's use the O'Neill side as an example of the "upper reaces of the Premiership." In which case not one of the set-up would make his side, and barely any of them even his squad.

I think Kisnorbo and Hume would have made certain lineups within the O'Neill era. Don't forget we went for months on end with players like Andy Impey in the side and at times padded out the XI with players like Phil Gilchrist, Arnar Gunnlaugsson and Graham Fenton. And Stef Oakes.

Fair point Fez. Should of remembered those plonkers. Don't half make O'Neill's achievements seem even better in hindsight though. Nevertheless, I think all the current crew would probably look like those if placed side by side with the Lennon's and Izzet's of this world.
teblin Posted 2 December 2006 Posted 2 December 2006 Logan pah, buying a new keeper should be one of the first things we do with the money if we get it. I'd say hume williams and Kisnorbo. Fryatt when he has a bit more confidence.

None of the current mob are in Lennon or Izzet's class obviously. All things are relative though, which makes Hume look like a worldbeater when he's standing next to Pelvis Hammond. Be nice to give Kisnorbo and Hume a couple of quality midfielders with Mandy's money to see how they shape up in comparison. I dream...
DB11 Posted 2 December 2006 Posted 2 December 2006 For the Prem: PossibleKisnorbo[/i] Wouldn't look "out of place" with the top teams in the Championship: Hume Possible Stearman
dandannieldanok Posted 2 December 2006 Posted 2 December 2006 Hume possibly top of the league, every other player NO. Kisnorbo doesnt have the passing ability to play at a higher level. All he does is play long balls because he cannot make a simple pass.

Hume is nothing better than a top end Championship player
