Dr The Singh Posted 14 December 2006 Posted 14 December 2006 Is it okay to kiss an 'attached'(married, girlfriend\boyfriend, person used for casual sex) person under the mistletoe. Assuming that the person is not a relative\partner etc. For example, on saturday I bring some mistletoe down to the swan and rushes and cobbo's with Kayteh, and I then go ahead and kiss Kayteh under the mistletoe. Would that be acceptable to Cobbo, or would Kayteh refuse to kiss because she's attached........is it against the xmas spirit not to kiss under the mistletoe, please discuss?????? (By the way I have no intention of kissing Kayteh under the mistletoe, unless you really didn't mind )

Janx Posted 14 December 2006 Posted 14 December 2006 Why??? I see I dont need to answer that one now.
Dr The Singh Posted 14 December 2006 Author Posted 14 December 2006 I see I dont need to answer that one now. Don't throw your mistletoe just yet, the whole purpose of this thread was to see which girls are up for some smootching. Using the law of averages there's bound to be one!!!

I know this as, unless there has been some serious changes in the Seek relgion, you don't celebrate Christmas!

What are you trying to say Mr Pablo, this is a serious discussion\thread, and yes I do have a mistletoe printed turban but it isn't used to kiss the girls, more for the festive spirit!! Sikhs recognise's all faiths and dispands none, in all Sikh temples there will be Urdaas (prayer) for Jesus and xmas day!!!

In which case, it adds more value to Sikhism in my opinion.... however I like you are a dirty old man that just wants lots of sneeky copping off..... admit it!
Katy Posted 14 December 2006 Posted 14 December 2006 Nah I don't really think it's acceptable. One thing leads to another at Christmas parties generally

What do I effectively believe as a Sikh? Sorry about this Singh... I've begun to take an interest more recently... never really listened at school. Is it like a branch of 'hinduism'? Sorry if I'm way wide of the mark, certainly don't mean to offend.

Like the Barnstable branch of 'hinduism'.
The People's Hero Posted 14 December 2006 Posted 14 December 2006 Singh - probably depends on the individuals concerned and more liberal/jealous/possessive they are and their partner is. Also whether their partner is there and how drunk they are. I tell it like I see it Singh!
Janx Posted 14 December 2006 Posted 14 December 2006 Im going to contract myself into the Sikh religion for Weddings and Parties only, can you measure me for the toybun mate?

In which case, it adds more value to Sikhism in my opinion.... however I like you are a dirty old man that just wants lots of sneeky copping off..... admit it! Very true, SIkhism isn't a missionary faith as such and doesn't believe that Sikhism is the only path to god but just one.......take any path one chooses but the right path is the only one through goods deeds etc only, and the holy book has references to many faiths and the first 2 words are Ek Onkar is ..'there is only one god, manifest in many different forms... From Wikepedia "The word 'O-ankaar' denotes that God manifests Himself ceaselessly throughout His creation in diverse forms, features and colours, and in this way becomes knowable to us. But, in spite of manifesting in such diverse forms, God remains One" BACKTO THE SERIOUS STUFF however I like you are a dirty old man that just wants lots of sneeky copping off..... admit it! Mrs Singh, maybe here, so I will neither deny or confirm!!!

No, it's not a branch of hinduism!! Sikh translate to learner\disciple, and according to scriptures, we are all Sikhs, from birth we learn, and we all learn about life, everyone is a Sikh regardless of colour creed etc, everyone is equal as everyone is a disciple of life\living!! There are differing degrees of Sikhs, there are those that enjoy the philosophy of sikhism (ie like me, I don't wear a turban, I drink alcohol and doo alot of bad deeds), there's those practice Sikhism, in terms of prayer etc, and then there's the ultimate, The Khalsa (Saint Soldier/Warrior Sikhs), the True Sikh, whose life is dedicated to humanity and the truth!!!

The reason i ask, is in the past, 10 years ago or so, we used to go out during the festive period, and mistletoe was flying around. I went to a few bars last night, other then tacky decoratiosn the only spirit was the one served in bottles!!!! But whats your take on it???
The People's Hero Posted 14 December 2006 Posted 14 December 2006 Do you have the ceremonial K's (5 I believe?) This is the one thing I know about sikhism. Where does Guru Nanak and the 12 gurus come in to it? What religion am I on about there?

Where does Guru Nanak and the 12 gurus come in to it? What religion am I on about there? There not ceremonial, except probably the sword, which is now worn as a dagger. The 5 k's are worn by Khalsa Sikhs or baptised Sikhs(Saint Soldiers), I only wear the 1 (Karra-steel bangle, used to be used as a weapon but also represents oneness of god and is placed on right hand as a reminder to one who may use there hands for misdeeds)!! Guru Nank, was the first teacher\master of the faith, there are 10 in total!!! So your on the right track!! If you want more info, just PM, me mate!!!!
The People's Hero Posted 14 December 2006 Posted 14 December 2006 Sikhs are cool. Hindus have some great gods... worth checking out. Thanks for the info Singh - very interesting. Sorry for taking this thread off topic and I'll ask you some more questions before the Barnsley game!

Sorry for taking this thread off topic and I'll ask you some more questions before the Barnsley game! It might be more interesting than anything to do with Barnsley if Kelly takes his normal path. As one who's favourite book is The Prophet I find myself fascinated by different people's views on the way to "enlightenment".

Babylon Posted 14 December 2006 Posted 14 December 2006 I was watching a programme the other night (can't remember what), i'm sure they said that there are more Christians in Indian than there are Sikhs?!?! Sikhs represented only the 3rd or 4th biggest faith group.
Dr The Singh Posted 14 December 2006 Author Posted 14 December 2006 i bet guru nanak would pick King/ Gradel etc. I know this much though, he would have sacked RK by now, the guy hasn't learnt anything (SiKh = Learner) and his flock (city fans) are dwindling fast!!!
