Much of my music taste is dominated by a love of bass.

Drum n Bass for starters. And before people throw chav accusations at me it'd be worth your while checking out the more 'intelligent side' of the genre from LTJ Bukem to Photek and 4hero, etc.

The only thing is you need the right equipment to support it.

Without trespassing on the 'Best bassline' thread does anyone else have a love for particular bass heavy bands, dj's, producers, tunes, etc?

I don't particularly seek out bass-heavy sounds. I do like Photek though, and other bits and pieces of DnB from the mid-90s. I'm massively out of touch with that kind of stuff now - I've no idea if it still exists as a genre. Probably, I guess.

I think one of my most heavily played records ever is LFO by LFO. It wrecked the speakers in my first car. I still reckon its a phenomenal piece of music.

it's called Logical Progression, double album (unmixed and mixed). a classic.

he did do a set of Earth albums as well, which are also very good.

You certainly know your music James! I’ve been listening going to see LTJ Bukem for many years now. Not so much these days since the monthly Prog Sessions stopped down at theend. Thing with the Good Looking label and it’s artists is that that it’s been done at a far greater professional level than any other which has set standards.

There are some great new produces out these days like A.I , Calibre, Breakage, Alex Perez, Marcus Intalex etc who have released some excellent tracks you’ll hear Bukem, Fabio people like that playing.

Yeah earth, they've released 7 earth albums now. It's more down tempo jazzy beats but still good.

If liked Logical Progression 1 you should try listening to some the live mixes with Conrad. Excellent

yeah, although it's still a pretty big scene most people on here seem to go down the indie route (nothing wrong with that by the way).

i love my drum n bass ever since i was about 15 and throughout uni and have been mixing for a few years now, mainly the darker side of the genre. the big thing now is hospital records and producers like Logistics, London Elektricity, High Contrast, Cyantific etc. It's all good stuff if a little bit 'Oooh baby' at times, if you know what I mean!

as for mc's aside from conrad would have to say dynamite purely for ability to get the crowd going. mostly i like them to take backseat though so i can properly listen to the music.

Yeah it was quality, we knew the bloke that used to do all the live sound recordings at each of the Metalheadz nights back then so we used to always get in free!

I don't get go to as many nights as I used to unfortunately but hopefully try and get to more this year.

You’re right about dynamite, I only really like the ones who don’t ruin the music by talking crap. I mean GQ, DRS, Rage and maybe SP I can just about tolerate.

Good thread mate. Love the intelligent stuff. You also heard any Blu Mar Ten or Forces Of Nature as these too are worth checking out

You two might also like some stuff on Compost Records like Fauna Flash or even the Pete Nice Trio which is more experimental D&B, but quite ambienty too !!
