Fez of Mahrez Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 You and others might mock the bloke. But with Fryatt there we had no pace, no goals and another simple chance squandered which everyone would have thrown in Hammond's face with relish had he been the culprit. And, quite apart from Hammond, Dodds would have buried both today's chance and the simpler one that Fryatt squandered at Southampton, no problem. See above. I agree it was a shocking miss and I'm not going to apologise for Fryatt any longer, for a supposedly excellent finisher, his goalscoring record for us is now appalling and he has missed some absolute sitters this season. I would have played Elvis if he had been fit, I was just saying - those through balls, he would definitely have been offside.
Thracian Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 I dread to think we could have a striker on our books who could do worse than O'Grady. RK said after the game Elvis was injured. Totally unfair to judge him on today's performance. The bloke's not played at any level for months. Ridiculous to start him in the first team. Is Dodds injured too or what is it ...too young, doesn't wear the right suits? Mind you Dodds is another like O'Grady who will have forgotten what a football looks like by the time he ever gets his chance. What a sodding mess.
lookwhaticando Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 Blame the board for the lack of reserve team football. That's what I like to do anyway.
lcfc_jme Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 I dread to think we could have a striker on our books who could do worse than O'Grady. RK said after the game Elvis was injured. Thanks for that, didn't know as I haven't bothered to read anything said by Rob fooking Kelly. He still making excuses for our players or is he finally admitting we are shite and he can't do his job properly? I'd imagine it's the former. Unfortunate for us today that Elvis was injured. With that being the case, I'd have started Hume and Fryatt upfront, leaving COG out of the squad. I'm not bothered that O'Grady hasn't been playing - for a man of his size, he goes down like a fairy. It's embarrassing to watch at times. He didn't look up to the job, and so should not have started the game. I'd have sent him on with 10 minutes to go if we were winning 2 or 3 - 0. Which based on today was never ever likely.
BartonFox Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 Chris O'Grady is woeful, the sooner we all accept that the quicker we can move on and forget the useless waste of space.

Mind you Dodds is another like O'Grady who will have forgotten what a football looks like by the time he ever gets his chance. What a sodding mess. I'll judge him on all his performances, thanks. He didn't look any different today to how he did earlier in the season when he was in the team. He's rubbish. I actually laughed out loud at that header. I'd have played Dodds months ago. Kelly could have a potential jobsaver there and he refuses to try him while giving equally unfit players like O'Grady and Cadamarteri games. Stupidity.
lcfc_forever Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 Today was abysmal. It could have been 4 or 5 nil. Sunderland were stronger, more energetic, had much more physical presence and worked harder. Connolly and Wallace were tremendous for them. We hardly won any 50/50s or second balls. The only thing we did win was the half-time relay. Clutching at straws, at least Forest got trashed. What I don't understand is the number of long balls we played - we were playing right into their hands given their height. Players like Varga are troubled by pace and the ball to feet - long balls were meat and drink to their defenders. When we did pass the ball to feet, it was backwards or sideways and not forward! Didn't understand Kelly's selection either - McAuley if not injured should have played while putting Kenton on his return from injury at left back was a disaster waiting to happen. I've not seen Weso play poorer for Leicester - he was awful today and that's worrying given by all accounts his poor performance at Wolves. I am all for attacking football, but what was going on with the subs? It was suicide against Sunderland to go with four attacking midfielders for most of the second half. Tiatto should have come on, at least to support Kenton on that wing where Sunderland really hurt us. Today's match shows you the all-importance of money, with the rare exception of teams like Preston and Watford but they had brilliant managers. Our squad I believe or at least our team cost less than Connolly and Hysen combined and it showed today. If Mandaric doesn't take over, we're ****ed. The longer the deal takes, the less players we can bring in, even on loan. Sorry weather for a sorry team.
Ultra Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 i thought we played pretty well today With 2007 barely 20 hours old we already have an outstanding candidate for most deluded poster of the year. Not even Kelly could defend that display and to be fair he didn't try to. But far too many performances this season have been totally unacceptable and today was no exception. Kelly was brave in dropping half the side - but sadly it was the wrong half. Willliams can't be arsed to play two games in a week, let alone three. And as for Hughes, today he was so inept he made Josh Low look like Cristiano Ronaldo! Darren Kenton is no left-back, as Sunderland sussed out within the first half-hour. As a result Porter had to play twenty yards deeper and therefore posed no attacking threat whatsoever. Up front Fryatt is totally bereft of confidence, as his horrendous second-half miss proved (Hammond would have been lynched for that) and O'Grady was as rusty as you would expect from someone who hasn't been near the first team squad in months. As for the subs, Hume chased around a bit but created very little apart from Fryatt's chance, while Cadamarteri showed some decent touches but is still weeks away from match fitness. Whatever happens with the takeover, it is evident from today's shambles and too many similar displays in recent months that Kelly has taken the team as far as he can. There are too many really dire teams for us to be relegated, but our manager's ineptitude and cronyism will mean that once again we will finish well below mid-table for the THIRD successive season. That shouldn't be tolerated. It's no longer a question of whether Kelly should leave, but when.
Leonisco Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 And as for Hughes, today he was so inept he made Josh Low look like Cristiano Ronaldo! That's a huge exaggeration - Hughes wasn't great today but he was 10 times better than Josh fooking Low!
Flynny Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 That's a huge exaggeration - Hughes wasn't great today but he was 10 times better than Josh fooking Low! He won some headers for a start. Lots, in fact.

The longer the deal takes, the less players we can bring in, even on loan. Sorry weather for a sorry team. You are right in all you say but while it is important, I don't think our lack of money is any excuse for our performances against Southampton and Sunderland. I believe there'll be an announcement about the takeover tomorrow but today's team selection was bizarre. What arrogance for Kelly to seemingly believe we can match a team like Sunderland with unfit players like Kenton, O'Grady, Wesolowski and Cadamarteri and half-fit players like Williams, Fryatt and probably even McCarthy. I can't help but believe that Kelly will lose the dressing room over this or, at the very least there will be more disharmony. That's if he still has the dressing room anyway. If a team has won 10 points from 12 and then plays badly the last thing it needs is dissecting. It needs the manager to indentify problems, to offer solutions and to take care to boost individuals' confidence. He might fine tune a particular area but whatever small changes might be made you always play people who are fit. Otherwise it weakens your team from the start and it wrecks the confidence of any recovering players. As it was he fell down on both counts. He didn't sort the problems and he didn't pick a team that was fit to play.
Eastern Fox Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 Agreed. We started the game with several unfit players, no belief and no organisation and tactics to speak of. Unsurprisingly, we came away with nothing. Hendo prevented the scoreline from being embrassing. Kelly has to take most of the blame. I especially can't believe the selection of Fryatt and O'Grady-it was obvious from the first five minutes they were off the pace-wasn't that obvious on the training ground too?
Ultra Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 It was our fourth game in nine days, and therefore changes were inevitable, especially with players collecting knocks. I note that Southampton also failed to win today, so perhaps Saturday's game on a heavy pitch had an effect on them too. However Kelly made serious errors in his team selection. Why did he retain Hughes and Williams when they were among the worst of the under-achievers in the previous game? Why did he suddenly reintroduce O'Grady when he hadn't been involved with the squad for months? And why did he insist on playing Kenton at left back? Given knowledge of recent bust-ups, could it have been with the aim of discrediting him and forcing him out of the club? Compare and contrast with Keane in the opposing dugout. By all accounts the mackems too had a poor day on Saturday and yet their manager, despite several injuries, was able to reshuffle and regroup. They may have been a little physical at times, but their organisation and commitment was first class - as good as anything we've seen at the Way all season. I wouldn't be surprised to see them force their way into the playoffs, especially if Keane can buy the players he wants, and bomb out some more of the deadwood. He's a proven motivator and winner. Sadly Rob Kelly is neither, and we witness the consequences all too often.
potter3 Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 What exactly happened with Hendo for the second goal, he saved it and then knocked it to Connolly
lildave3 Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 What exactly happened with Hendo for the second goal, he saved it and then knocked it to Connolly I wasn't really paying attention after he missed i just looked to the floor with relief, then i heard someone shout and realised they had scored again. Did seem as though Hendo had it safe though
lcfc_jme Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 I wasn't really paying attention after he missed i just looked to the floor with relief, then i heard someone shout and realised they had scored again. Did seem as though Hendo had it safe though From what I saw, he made a great save, killed the ball and it sat right infront of him, then he swung a fooking leg at it, knocking it straight to their man, who put it in the empty goal. I went from to in a matter of seconds!!
AyewJoking Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 I actually went to this game so am I worthy of posting my reaction? Quite terrible.

He's not bald Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 We were crap and they were a bit better There is a little ray of sunshine....the trees got a good hiding yesterday and by all accounts they were dreadful...and they have dropped to 3rd.
Sods Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 Thought the game was very shocking yesterday. Very quiet as well. Some people below me were being told to sit down which hasn.t happened for ages. But leicester were shcking yesterday, padddy mac was bloddy terrible. Anyway cheer up people, everyones going back to work this week
JoeyB Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 surprised the: "your not fit to wear the shirt" chant hasnt started yet
jaffa1970 Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 Maybe RK is living in hope of a "cup run" of sorts to justify his 6 changes to the side. Isn't Tiatto left footed and he does read the game quite well so surely he could have started at left back? I know he is not the quickest guy anymore, but he is no slouch. Hard to say from 21000km away when it's 3am while listening to it.
Manwell Pablo Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 They're alot better than us. They have a manager who has a bit about him. Panicy changes from Kelly yesterday, mainly across the back and it produced some Laurel and Hardy defending. Kentons no left back when he's fit nevermind when he hasn't played for three months (Stange you pointed that out RE Chris O Grady but not Darren Kenton Thracian) I don't see what Johanson has done that is so terrible. McCarthy shouldn't of been playing. IMO Maybury has looked very steady and right back and Stearman has been struggling for from all season. Hughes ins't a right winger, Williams had a Pop star day, Weslowski looked out of his depth, Porter couldn't get into the game, they all gave the ball away far to much. Chris O'Grady should of been sold to Hull, the lad is absloute tosh. Fryatt was alright but he's missed another absloute sitter today, it can't carry on. That, is why we lost.
Wils Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 This was about as werth it as going to Southampton and getting soaked. Terrible, although i didnt think we were as bad as on saturday, something needs to be done though.

It's no longer a question of whether Kelly should leave, but when. ok yer im not going t defend the performance at sunderland, but im sorry but i fail to see how making kelly leave will help, im sorry but with the players that we have atm not even sir alex will be able to get us promoted, it is not a case of sacking kelly it is a case of finding from somewhere some cheap stars, we have people in the reserves who should be able to cut it! dodds for example, we need to stop looking out of the club for loans and transfers which everyone bables on about. we need to look inside the club for potential! i mean look at levi he is now probably one of our best players, he is certainly the only one who can take players on! it is time for us to support the team for the first time in years and stop getting on the managers back! an d after all it is only two games, b4 then we had a good run, ok b4 then we had a very bad run but b4 that we had the best run the club has seen for years , not the managers fault its the players! alot of them are not fit to wear the shirt!
