Flynny Posted 7 January 2007 Posted 7 January 2007 Are you suggesting Milan is not a Leicester fan? We may have to find a new song! Milan Mandaric! What a banker! What a banker! ???
Thracian Posted 7 January 2007 Posted 7 January 2007 Success this season will be to avoid relegation, same as last.
potter3 Posted 7 January 2007 Posted 7 January 2007 realistically the best we'll ever do is to get into the top 10 of the premiership.cups, even the league cup now that the big clubs are taking it seriously, are out of the question.there are 5-10 clubs that will always be bigger than us and money talks. we're a medium sized club in a medium sized city, get use to it. West Ham were so close to winning the FA Cup last year, and they're not a really big club - Millwall reached the final not too long back, and could have got lucky, like Southend beating Man U if that was the final, and if they had easy teams until then and then pulled that one off they would be winners. Success this season would be to push on and finsh in the top half. Success within the next few years would be to stabilise the finances (in the case of no Milan), from there we could acheive promotion and hopefully become an established Premier club.
Geo V Posted 8 January 2007 Posted 8 January 2007 Its great as fans that we talk of success and expectations, it would be pointless if we didnt but lets face it, in recent times we have OVER achieved. Go and ask clubs who have spent millions upon millions if they would have liked to have got to League Cup Finals and actually won a couple of them! Newcastle constantly wind me up as they make out they are this and that but havent won a domestic competion in 52 years! There are too many clubs who are meant to be bigger than Leicester who having won anything for years so lets not understate our recent successes but also lets not get so complacent where we think it will happen next season!
Ultra Posted 8 January 2007 Posted 8 January 2007 Major success for us would to stabilise the team, getting them playing well, eventually playing in the Premiership. I think it would be way too optimistic to think about winning any trophies. It happened before, at Filbo, so why not now? It's a question of finding the right manager and being able to keep him. If we're able to regain stability both on and off the pitch I see no reason why we shouldn't aim for the same level Bolton are at now. If they can challenge for the top six and a place in Europe, so should we!

And how many trophies have THEY won in the last 25 years? They like to THINK they're all that, in order to compete with the gooners, spurs and Chelski, but in truth they've had one good decade in their history and are still trading on that nearly forty years later. If they had to spent three years out of the top flight I bet their crowds would be well below what ours are now..

Webbo Posted 8 January 2007 Posted 8 January 2007 actually i meant to say bigger not better club than us.
gilesyboy Posted 8 January 2007 Posted 8 January 2007 The whole England squad die and the people of the FA of the world say Leicester City are great and regardless of their nationality they can represent England in the world cup and we win, beating brazil in the final. With Levi doing ronaldiniho all over the place. Very realistic Oh, I didn't give a time limit... let's say 2010 You sick perv, quite an amusing thought though, wonder what the ref would say.......

Totally agree that they think they are bigger than us and its all down to the 66 World Cup and those days. Of course they had class players then but its pointless in looking that far back all the time. Its like Newcastle fans saying they are a huge club but continue to win fudge all. Having worked in East London (absolute s***ehole), I would say the only thing they have going for them is that practically all of East London support them! If they ever did make it big and had a big stadium they probably would compete with the Arsenals but thats alot of ifs.

Agree with Newcastle, they've always p*ssed me off (esp when they beat us 4-3 when we're 3-1 up with 10 to go...) but how many times do you hear, 'their fans really deserve success, sleeping giant etc etc' what, just because they are passionate and constant under achievers they deserve success, load of old bollocks. We're bloody passionate and we under achieve but do we honestly believe we deserve success, no because we're comprehensively mis-managed on and off the field and we admit it. Oooooh it p*sses me off to hear people moan and expect success just because they have the biggest voice instead of sorting out their own backyard and doing it the honest way. I mean you can't just expect a millionaire chairman to waltz in and wave his magic wand and........I'll get my coat....
Janx Posted 9 January 2007 Posted 9 January 2007 I think there is a case to say.... How big are Bolton, Blackburn, etc... hey How big are Pompey!!!! "The only limitation to ones success is yourself" (Janx 2007).... why limit your and your club's dream and expectations...
Michael Doyle Posted 10 January 2007 Posted 10 January 2007 Realistically > Spend the rest of the season in the championship and strengthen the squad. > Use next season to blend the squad adding to it where possible. > Be competitive and challenge for the play offs if not the top spot. > Should we not go up strengthen the squad again and again (Promotion is not a certainty just because we have more money and a new owner) > Once we get up to the Premiership (where we belong) have a good run over a few years and keep strengthen the squad. > Would achieve our potential if we had a run like the one under MON (top part of the table and good cup runs). > A few decent cup runs and maybe a few cup wins for the boys! > I would love to see LCFC pick the FA Cup up in my life time. > Any thing else would be a bonus. COME ON YOU MIGHTY FOXES MadMick
