Daggers Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 When it comes to City ~ if the football is attractive and we win a lot...then I couldn't care if the players were all one legged lesbians from Azerbaijan.
Milky Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 FYI, I'm scrapping the whole one person vs another thing. Shit idea. As you were. Sick Blood
Lord Nibblington Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 I like the two debates in this thread. One, has something to do with foreign folk playing football. The other, is about that state of holly's chebs with or without a tattoo. Very interesting reading.

hairy Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 When it comes to City ~ if the football is attractive and we win a lot...then I couldn't care if the players were all one legged lesbians from Azerbaijan. I'd prefer Scandinavians
Guest Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 I would also like to add that if English players were any good, then they would be plying their trade in Italy, Spain, Germany etc. Which they aren't. When was the last time PSG came and signed a young lad from this country? Saying that foreigners are responsible for the decline in English football is papering over the huge chasms that mismanagement and inadequate resources have caused in the domestic game. To blame it on imports detracts from the real reasons. And we wouldn't want to admit we've ballsed up ourselves, now would we?

The French league is crap and has no reputation whatsoever. Also not as good financially. I doubt foreign teams even bother trying to sign youngsters from English clubs very often to be honest cos they can't compete financially and can rarely offer a similarly attractive and competitive league to play in.

True. But it's a free market. That is to say, the best leagues get the best players, regardless of nationality to a large degree. If English players aren't good enough then... they're not good enough. Actually, fook it, I can't be arsed. Cheers -

I was thinking of how The Arse poach any young French kid in sight. I blame the wine.
Nationwider Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 DISAGREE I want to see the best players playing in English conditions. I wouldn't give a rat's ass if City didn't play a single Englishman on Saturday - and neither should anyone else.

Daggers Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 Proper frites from France and chips from Holland kick English chips. Totally.
Guest Posted 3 February 2007 Posted 3 February 2007 A good wine, on the other hand, usually heralds from the antipodes. Wine does not imitate football.
Sly Posted 3 February 2007 Posted 3 February 2007 Agree. We should have a cap on non EU players I reckon similar to Italy
filbertway Posted 3 February 2007 Posted 3 February 2007 DISAGREE - overseas stars bring crowds in, and give the clubs more revenue to enable them to purchase a better quality player. It's all about the entertainment. But theres too many average foreigners coming into the game bringing their bad habits. It's alright bringing in the top quality foreigners, but too many average players are getting in and it's stopping young english players having the chance to come through. Although that could have soemthing to do with english clubs charging about 20X what a foreign club would charge for aplayer of the same quality
