Manwell Pablo Posted 6 February 2007 Author Posted 6 February 2007 Been really impressed with Huddlestone this eason and he has a bright future ahead of him, however on sunday he was taught a footballing lesson and was outclassed by a little ginger maestro called Paul Scholes. I wish he still played for us Our CM will no way be able to cope with their of Alonso and Fabregas, two absolute gems. Unless Captain Steve and Joey Barton get in their and ruffle a few feathers, would like to see Lennon get at Spains LB pernia who looked shite at The WC, also Rio v Torres should be an interesting one but I think Villa will pose the biggest threat as he likes to drop off Torres and without Hargreaves I'm not sure who would pick him up with Rio and Woodgate having their hands full with torres. He still created Spurs two best oppurtunities.
Lord Nibblington Posted 6 February 2007 Posted 6 February 2007 Thats one of the strongest Under 21 sides we've had in a long while and it all bodes well for the future. Just a shame about McLaren. The thing is, how many players really make the step up from U21s to the Full National side? I might be wrong, but it's always seemed to me to be not very many.

Lord Nibblington Posted 6 February 2007 Posted 6 February 2007 Quite a few of the current side played at U21 level. I mean those who play for the U21s for a prolonged period of time. Take Reo-Coker and Milner for example. Both have been playing for them for awhile. I think. Are both good players? Yup. Will they go on to make an impact in the national team? I'm not so sure. Basically, whilst the U21 side have a bunch of good players, and I just doubt many will really go on to become big international players.

It'll be hard to tell due to the standerd of our team currenty, the currecnt England squad is pretty young anyway the next world cup squad will still have the likes of Ashley Cole Joe Cole, John Terry, Stephan Gerrard, Wayne Rooney, Micheal Owen, Aaron Lennon, and Owen Hargreaves who will all be 30 or under. Maybe even Rio at the age of 33 might still be getting in the side. I think Micah Richards will probabley replace Gary Neville at Right back after 2008 unless he decideds to do a Cafu, and Foster will be Englands no.1. So that will take most of the current U21 squad up into their mid 20's. I'm still happy with our under 21 side, if some of the players develop in the right way maybe some of the above mentioned players may be a bit worried about their places/
Geo V Posted 6 February 2007 Posted 6 February 2007 I know Gary Neville is having a decent season but I would punt him out as he makes too many mistakes at the back and his lack of real pace gets shown up at international level. With Micah there I think we have a real talent and I would get the lad to have a few more games under his built in anticipation for the finals next year, if we make it that is.

If you want to talk mistakes at the back, we'll talk Micah Richards.
Lord Nibblington Posted 6 February 2007 Posted 6 February 2007 My word. If you want to talk mistakes at the back, we'll talk Micah Richards. He should still start against Spain in my opinion. He has the potential to be very good. And it would be a lot better to have him gain international experience when it doesn't count, rather than when it does. Or something.
OBO Posted 6 February 2007 Posted 6 February 2007 Apparently this is who'll start against Spain. It's on SSN now and HERE Foster G Neville Ferdinand Woodgate P Neville Wright-Phillips Gerrard Carrick Lampard Dyer Crouch
RowlattsFox Posted 6 February 2007 Posted 6 February 2007 why isnt barry at left back? i dont mind dyer playing left mid aslong as their is a natural left footed left back who can provide the width.
Jon the Hat Posted 6 February 2007 Posted 6 February 2007 Apparently this is who'll start against Spain. It's on SSN now and HERE Foster G Neville Ferdinand Woodgate P Neville Wright-Phillips Gerrard Carrick Lampard Dyer Crouch Shocking team selection.
Manwell Pablo Posted 6 February 2007 Author Posted 6 February 2007 Apparently this is who'll start against Spain. That's just horrible. Not the setting out. Just the team.

Yeah I put it down as 4-5-1 as I was just reading it as it scrolled accross on SSN! I would certainly imagine Wright-Phillips and Dyer will be getting well forward to support Crouch. It's the Foster selection I don't understand. McClaren says it's for experience, but I'd say it's kind of an important game to be trying to win outright.

I'm getting fed up with Robo, and he looks like he's been on the Ricky Hatton post fight diet since the end of the WC. Fosters a good keeper could be the future if he stops wondering off his line.

If you want players to get experience, when else are you going to play them apart from in friendlies? It's Phil Neville that I don't get. Phil Neville? Phil fu cking Neville? Seriously? I'd be crying if I was Gareth Barry. And trying to find a big axe.
Simi Posted 6 February 2007 Posted 6 February 2007 Apparently this is who'll start against Spain. Nice to see Foster have a game and Wright Phllips from the start.
Lord Nibblington Posted 6 February 2007 Posted 6 February 2007 Actually, I don't get Wright-Phillips playing either. You've played bugger all club football all season son, but never mind, you're good enough to play fo the National side!
Simi Posted 6 February 2007 Posted 6 February 2007 Dyer wont last long before he comes off injured. The Downing will come on

It's Phil Neville that I don't get. Phil Neville? Phil fu cking Neville? Seriously? I'd be crying if I was Gareth Barry. And trying to find a big axe. True. Barry's been really good this season. You're right, friendlies are obviously the best choice of fixture to try out new players and ideas, I just think that in terms of boosting morale and getting everyone believing England are good again, this is an important one to win. Spain are petty good like, I think it would be an impressive victory if we could get it. I don't think Foster is a bad keeper at all, in fact I think he's probably as good as/better than Robinson (although I suppose that's not saying much, I don't like Robinson at all). I really think David James has played well this season for Pompey and deserves another go.
Lord Nibblington Posted 6 February 2007 Posted 6 February 2007 Dyer wont last long before he comes off injured. The Downing will come on Please don't. I may just have to start maiming small animals again.

Barry has earnt more right to play than Neville. Maybe because most of his success has come from the left wing but he could still do a job there.

But we know exactly what Phil Neville can do. Which is be shit. Honestly, how many caps has he got for England? It's just wrong! Sick and wrong I tells ya!
RowlattsFox Posted 6 February 2007 Posted 6 February 2007 matty taylor should be playing left back. should of been called up when bridge withdrawn, or baines.
