The People's Hero Posted 10 February 2007 Posted 10 February 2007 I past careing TBH for some reason i'll still keep pouring my hard earned cash into the bottomless pit called Leicester City and for some reason i'll still keep turning up to see overpayed players play football, but say 3/4 years ago if we lost I was seriously pissed off, I used to hit walls, shout, go mad, e.t.c, and when we won nothing seemed to upset me the best feeling ever! In the past 2 years maybe 1 and a half years if we lose I don't care like water of a ducks back, i'm used to it, its normal. If/When we win I don't care either, I feel no sense of happiness when we win now, because I know the next week no doubt we'll lose again. And when we draw you've guessed I don't care! I put it down to the players, They show no passion, they show not much care, the don't give a fuk, It obviously rubbed of on me/other fans (If you feel the same way) The only match I as a fan have been really fired up for was Villa. Because the Leicester players showed some fight. Most/Every match they just don't give a fuk and as I said that mentality must have rubbed of on me as a fan. The sad and annoying point for me is it's like a drug, I don't want to go and watch Leicester anymore, I don't want to waste any more of my hard earned cash on Leicester but I can't help it, It's like an addiction. As this was a post from Matt, I assumed it was all misguided moaning with a sprinkling of how great Australia is and a poorly spelt paragraph on how all graduates and time-wasting idiots who don't know what they want from life. If I'm wrong.. well, I'm not wrong, am I?
The People's Hero Posted 10 February 2007 Posted 10 February 2007 I said it to Fez on msn earlier and I'm prepared to say it in public. I'm fairly convinced we'll go down. At most clubs at the bottom, there is some determination, some conviction, new signings and a seige mentality, a manager who knows what he's doing... a real lust and determination to fight for any point. At Leicester I see a manager who is a bit naive, too cool, doesn't appreciate the gravity - the severity of the consequences of relegation and how close that is. I see a group of players/staff who don't seem to care. Maybe they are being (for once) professional and putting a brave face on things but I genuinely believe we are drowning without even a struggle. We seem to just be slipping away. I'm convinced we'll go down unless something drastically changes. All the RK is a nice guy etc etc sympathists are arseholes. Wear the relegation of our club on your sleeve next to your RK LOYALTY badge. Feel good? Wanqas (imo Janx).
Thracian Posted 10 February 2007 Posted 10 February 2007 Hmmm, MON's teams were winners and hard to beat, so are Chelsea. I think I understand what you are trying to get at, but your ideology will never come out in any team, even LCFC U18's. This isn't MON's team or the much more accomplished Matt Gillies team and it's not going to be. I'm quite happy to have the most aggressive intimidating team imaginable in winning the ball but once you have it you need to play some football to win matches. Not only do we overload ourselves with spoilers and shunters we then put em all across our defence and most of our midfield, including Levi who is now increasingly engaged in Leicester's regular role for a winger...as a supplementary trouble shooter rather than an attacker.
MBK Posted 10 February 2007 Posted 10 February 2007 I'm still quietly convinced we'll comfortably avoid the drop Hopefully not famous last words... I agree. For some quirky reason, I think we will win today. And that might set a tone for the rest of the games.
He's not bald Posted 10 February 2007 Posted 10 February 2007 I'm perfectly prepared for it. If that is what it takes to shake off our negative philosophy and to get in people who want to attack games then it won't be an entirely bad thing. Even some fans have a "this isn't the time to play football attitude" but until it changes and until we, like an alcoholic, admit that spoiling, hard-to-beat football simply isn't good enough to achieve what we want we will never start moving upwards. We might tread water endlessly, but we will win sod all. Winners don't contemplate "second" - not in a tackle, not when it comes to fitness, nor when it comes to the skills required to score goals, and keep scoring goals. Winners are so focused they down even like losing the toss. I'm praying not everyone has this attitude because believe me it will be a very very bad thing

He needs to fall on his sword and quickly, hasn't got a hope in hell of being here next season anyway with or without MM and I think we could get 6 or 7 of our much needed points from the reaction of the team following his departure

Proud of myself.
Thracian Posted 10 February 2007 Posted 10 February 2007 I'm praying not everyone has this attitude because believe me it will be a very very bad thing Why's that then? a) We will have to get rid of the overpaid troop of sideways passers and non-effect footballers we seem to have accumulated at wages that are better than their ability. b) We will have to play "young and hungry" instead of the half-cocked and therefore disjointed approach we currently have, assuming our best young players haven't left by then out of sheer frustration. c) We will surely have to revise our playing strategy because whatever happens this season, the recent approach has led to us becoming an embarrassment to ourselves for too long now. We don't win often enough because we never put 100% into trying to win. We always hedge our bets. d) If we do re-group and take a different attitude we might start to win matches and get to the right end of the table. If that happens the support will still be there and there'll be something to take pride in again. e) If, however, we stay up this seson, then what will change if we have no funds?. It will be the same unimaginative, directionless football from an unbalanced, under-resourced football team. Unless MM finally appears and then I imagine we won't be so much a football club as a loan company.

You live in a dream world. We'd be the same useless, passionless, clogging hoof merchants in League One, if we could afford to even play out the season. I can't believe how naive that post is. If anything it would just mean losing our best players (Kisnorbo and Hume, primarily). Yes it's a bit of a laugh having Elvis Hammond as your third-choice striker in the Championship but he'd be numero uno in League One, head honcho, the main man. I'm almost in tears at the prospect. Going down would be disastrous for this club and it's time Kelly woke up to the fact and stepped aside to let someone who might have a chance of getting us out of this shit take over.

I was just about to agree with an excellent post ~ and then found out you were pissed...which makes it an outstanding post. Wanqas indeed. We're making history this season!
Simi Posted 10 February 2007 Posted 10 February 2007 We are now 18th with 34 points. And we are 3 points off saftey. This time last season we were in the relegation zone with 26 points. (22nd) Also we were 2 points of safety. 34 points at this time last season would of put us in 17th. We are technically in a better position than last year but we are playing awful at the moment. Around this time last season we started to pick up points. It is essential to start picking up points now or we are in huge trouble.

Going down would be disastrous for this club and it's time Kelly woke up to the fact and stepped aside to let someone who might have a chance of getting us out of this shit take over. Real Madrid doesn't come into it. Our first task is to start playing like any normally compoetent football team. And what's this big thing about Hume and Kisnorbo?. They're only heroes because they are arguably the best of a poor bunch. You're talking about a wholehearted guy with seven League goals in half-a-season and a skipper who can't pass and is the kingpin in a defence that's conceded 39 goals in 30 games, but who, on the credit side, is deputising rather well for our failing main striker. Neither would have got anywhere near the better Leicester teams of the past. We need not the odd one but a whole team of players who can consistently pass and move. Sadly as we're struggling in the depths of the Championship where supposedly "hard-to-beat" football (call it hard to win or hard to score if you like) is the staple diet, we're not going to get one. I didn't want to be saying this now in this situation. I wanted it sorted in the summer and said so loud and clear with many others. But instead we did nothing of any consequence, we addressed none of our weaknesses. Struggling was inevitable and will continue to be even with the recent signings while RK continues to ignore our real shortcomings which have been well documented by all and sundry.
Glen_lcfc Posted 11 February 2007 Posted 11 February 2007 Have you all quite finished talking about relegation now after yesterday? 37 points, five points clear, one game in hand .. and (ever the optomist) two points away from 14th place with the next two games playing the two teams directly above us. A great chance to climb the table and hopefully finish top half

Anyone who thinks we're safe, and I bet RK doesn't is deluding themselves.
Thracian Posted 11 February 2007 Posted 11 February 2007 I can understand it in the cirucmstances but how easily we are pleased at Leicester these days. Ipswich are an awful side. Even at the Walkers earlier this season I couldn't believe what a shadow they were of their normal standard. By Kelly's admission (judging by McAuley's comment) we went there to "win ugly". Fair enough, but that's exactly the same as we were trying to do this time last season. Is "winning ugly" going to be the extent of our ambition? We got ourselves into this situation with ugly, disjointed football and now I'm hearing fans in raptures because we've made some progress towards getting us out. I'd be well pleased if, for once, we played proper football and didn't jump into the shit to begin with. Of course the fans are relieved but in terms of footballing progress it is all a sodding illusion. "Ugly" isn't going to win us anything. A combination of attitude and style will win things. With midfielders who create and strikers who score. They only really heartening sign yesterday was our defending further up the pitch which gave us a much more solid base for team football, for passing and supporting. That and Porter taking the corners and having greater influence as an attacker. We still create so little and have misfiring strikers. Why anyone should be satisfied I've no idea. Yes our first win in 19 years at Portman Road is commendable. But it is more significant as an indication of how woeful Ipswich have become rather than any special or convincing progress we have made. Granted four points from two games is a potential base for progress even if two or those points were wilfully sacrificed. But how about some style?. This is supposed to be a football club, after all.
Daggers Posted 11 February 2007 Posted 11 February 2007 As per my life motto...Look up, not down... I'll wager you tread in a lot of dog shit
Basingstoke Fox Posted 11 February 2007 Posted 11 February 2007 I know I will get slated for his but sometimes under levein we played really good and attractive football ad still lost so if we have to win ugly to win then fine

Fez of Mahrez Posted 11 February 2007 Author Posted 11 February 2007 And no doubt if we do reach 14th this thread will have dropped to about page 4/5 and there will be a page full on people jumping on the "We're heading for the play-offs" and "Rob Kelly is the best" bandwagon threads Firstly, as you can see from the first post in this thread, it was mainly tongue-in-cheek. Secondly, relegation is still a very real prospect. If we do stay up comfortably then it'll be easy to bring this thread back and mock it but being five points clear of the relegation zone at this stage doesn't sound especially safe to me. Thirdly, I think most people have firmly nailed their colours to the mast regarding Kelly by now. Anyone who is still wavering (either way) after a year of having him in charge is having a laugh.

It doesn't sound at all safe to me, especially considering we were at one stage this season we were (I think) 13 points clear of the relegation places in good form talking about the possibility of trying to climb the table come January! As you can probably guess, I am not Kellys biggest fan. I don't think he has what it takes to be a successful manager. I don't think he has what it takes to finish mid-table in a distinctly average league such as this one. I also think he should be gone, though I don't like the idea of Dowie being his replacement either.

I don't believe we will go down! RK will stay till the end of the season! There are too many worse teams than us and that's saying something i know! Leeds Southend Barnsley Hull All Will finish below LCFC so i know we are crap, but just not that bad

Firstly, My post was also tongue in cheek, Commenting on the amount of fickle fans that come and go on here. When we win one or two it's like we're top of the league when we lose a few (And yes at this current time we quite rightly should be worried about the threat of relegation) but it goes from one extreme to the other in a matter of half a week sometimes...Infact make that half a day. Secondly, See my first point, I have stated that at this moment in time on our current form relegation is a threat we should be worried about! And thirdly, At matches at the Walkers if most people are against Kelly, why do I hear the "Theres only one Rob Kelly" chants? And its not just a few people chanting it because its fairly loud, I admit it has quietened down recently but I can still hear it.
