James. Posted 19 February 2007 Posted 19 February 2007 I really do not get understand all this trashing of MM choices of manager. Picking a manager isn't easy and the people he appointed have been succesfull (some still are) throughout Europe, it just didn't work at Portsmouth for them. I'm not trashing it, just describing it as eccentric. In my opinion this makes it a risk (admittedly it's a risk with any chairman).
holly Posted 19 February 2007 Posted 19 February 2007 he has done a good job with what he has had, but i dont think he will know how the spend the money! we need someone who knows how to....... shame as i like him
AyewJoking Posted 19 February 2007 Posted 19 February 2007 Yeah you could stick with RK, let him buy his own players with MM's money and see how things work out. If we are doing well then fine but if we are still struggling then we've wasted time and money. I wonder if RK will actually be allowed to buy the players he wants, will he always have to ask for MM's opinion on the player first or will MM tell RK what players he wants?
potter3 Posted 19 February 2007 Posted 19 February 2007 I thnk we should keep him 'til the end of the season, best not unbalance the team etc. But I think we need a manager who has ambition, not one who is content with a point per game. HOW is that a good target??? It's ridiculously negative, is he now asking for 10 points from the remaining 14 games?? <_<
Fatbloke Posted 19 February 2007 Posted 19 February 2007 A chance is the very least Rob deserves, the uncertainty he and his staff have been working under since the MM rumour broke has been, to say the least unsettling, prior to this we were on a great run with the Manager of the month being mentioned, since November, well, I don`t need to tell you !! MM recognises this and has rightly given Rob a fair crack of the whip, let`s see how he does given a settled position AND a few bob to work with !
hazytex Posted 19 February 2007 Posted 19 February 2007 Does anyone on this board realistically think Rob Kelly can take this Club forward from the mediocrity displayed over the last few seasons. Get real, the quality of product (footbal),effort, skill and enthusiasm has been a disgrace and at times dire. Most people now appear to accept this undistinguished, inglorious, averageness as the norm.Does anyone really think MM will tolerate second rate?,never.
Fatbloke Posted 19 February 2007 Posted 19 February 2007 I have just answered that question, he deserves a chance and that`s exactly what MM is giving him !!!!
The People's Hero Posted 19 February 2007 Posted 19 February 2007 What exactly has he done to 'deserve' a chance? He's overseen a period of negative, gutless and turgid football. As a spectacle it's been poor. Results have been poor. There has been excuse after excuse after excuse. No room for sentiment, he's tactically naive, inept in the transfer market, a poor judge of a player and he'd rather make excuses than take remedial action.
Fatbloke Posted 19 February 2007 Posted 19 February 2007 Kept us up last season, got us to within spitting distance of the play offs this season then had to endure a nightmare, off the field situation where his job was constantly in doubt ! our new owner believes he`s worthy of a chance so who am I to argue !

Some people really must be living on a different planet ! The fact of the matter is, if we are planning to get into the Prem then we need a more experienced manager...
James. Posted 19 February 2007 Posted 19 February 2007 Not convinced he "deserves" a chance but the fact of the matter is he is getting that chance at least until the end of the season due to the ready lack of an alternative. He has a lot of work to do (some may say an impossible task) in proving to Mandaric he is the man to take the club forward and I would be very surprised if he is still our manager at the start of 07-08.
hazytex Posted 19 February 2007 Posted 19 February 2007 Keeping the seat warm nothing more nothing less.
Fatbloke Posted 19 February 2007 Posted 19 February 2007 I can assure you Oh Bold one I am very much an earthling, can`t remember exactly but was`nt it 3 wins and 2 draws in October and 4pts from the play offs ? beam me up Boldy !!

I am sick to death of the happy clapping do-gooders too frightened to stand up for themselves and make a noise. Flip-floppers of the world unite today <_< Rob Kelly is f'cking shit as a manager and as a coach, he has done nothing, nada, not a thing in his 3 years at the Club to suggest otherwise. Come the summer he and that other cancer on the Club Tim Davies will be gone and our years of pish poor mediocrity will be behind us.
Manwell Pablo Posted 19 February 2007 Posted 19 February 2007 I can assure you Oh Bold one I am very much an earthling, can`t remember exactly but was`nt it 3 wins and 2 draws in October and 4pts from the play offs ? beam me up Boldy !! Yes but we we're only 12th in the table, and his good work in November was quickly undone in November wasn't it?
Milky Posted 19 February 2007 Posted 19 February 2007 It's interesting to hear some of the noises coming out of the dressing room. Horsefield has just called Kelly "different class", and i remember Nisse saying Kelly was one of the best managers he's had, along with a few other comments. It seems Kelly is a great man manager, but he perhaps is lacking in terms of tactics etc..

Oh for crying out loud, at what point have we ever been within spitting distance? We have been bottom half of the table all f'cking season. Do you actually know anything about football? Seriously I have to ask because no self respecting football follower would have an opinion like that. Stay off the cream cakes
Fatbloke Posted 19 February 2007 Posted 19 February 2007 Yes but we we're only 12th in the table, and his good work in November was quickly undone in November wasn't it? Yes it was and I have given the reason for that ! the whole takeover debacle had a very bad effect on the whole playing side of the club !!

Speak to the following Maybury, Wesolowski, Stearman, Fryatt, Hammond, Johansson, Douglas and the departed trio of Low, Sylla and Williams they'll blow your assumption right out the water. Do not think for one minute the players are now responding to Kelly.

Don't want to turn this into a "pick on the fatbloke" type affair but do you really think we would be in the playoffs had Mandaric not come around?

hazytex Posted 19 February 2007 Posted 19 February 2007 Different class! bound to say that no one else would employ him.
