Head Honcho Posted 8 March 2007 Posted 8 March 2007 Why do the press feel it necessary to portray this woman as a victim or to refer to her as a young black woman? They wouldn't say young white woman would they? http://news.aol.co.uk/pc-in-punch-row-move...308010909990003 The footage actually lasts for a lot longer than viewers are shown by the news channels and full footage goes some way to showing us why the copper reacted the way he did. She was responsible for £3000 worth of damage and the cheeky cow wants compensation

Smacking a 19 year old girl in the face isn't really on is it?
lookwhaticando Posted 8 March 2007 Posted 8 March 2007 I'd reserve judgement until I've seen the full video. But if she's caused problems, broke laws and caused a lot of damage, it serves her right. If that's not the case, then the copper has been watching a little too much Life on Mars. Which, by the way was brilliant last night.
Shum Posted 8 March 2007 Posted 8 March 2007 Well she probabley got fined for the offense she commited. Smacking a 19 year old girl in the face isn't really on is it? Apparantly she was struck on the arm. I don't know what to make of it to be honest. Deffo dont think it's racist though.

lookwhaticando Posted 8 March 2007 Posted 8 March 2007 Deffo dont think it's racist though. I don't care whether you're black, white or orange, if you break the law and cause a lot of trouble, you're gonna get a smack.

She got a conditional discharge or something lame like that .........and he was hitting her on the arm so he could cuff her and by cuff her I mean cuff her
Milky Posted 8 March 2007 Posted 8 March 2007 I've just watched this footage http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediaselector/check/p...am=1&bbwm=1 doesn't look all that bad to me "she was dragged to the police van with her trousers around her ankles"
Thracian Posted 8 March 2007 Posted 8 March 2007 What do you say. Without all the evidence and without the comments of those involved how can you judge?. But I have great reservations about a person who causes criminal damage ever being allowed to benefit from doing so, any more than they should benefit from crime of any sort. Reaction might be wrong but the instigators contribute, even incite, the provoking of that reaction and should be held responsible for doing so. If Germany declares war on another nation that prompts reactions that are understandable and inevitable and it is Germany as the instigator who should, first and foremost, be held responsible. If that is right with nations, why not individuals? I would rather any "damages" went to a charitable cause than the instigator. And that would apply if a destructive criminal were beaten to a pulp. People should be held responsible for their actions and for the first action ahead of consequential actions. Totally different if there is no physical reason for the respondent to be provoked. Or if there's a set up.
Leicfox Posted 8 March 2007 Posted 8 March 2007 2.18.58 (They fall down the stairs together.) PC Mulhall: "She now began to kick, spit and made attempts to bite me....she tried to grab handfulls of my genitals and knee and kick me in the same place....At this point I struck her as hard as I was physically able with my right fist in an attempt to subdue her. There was no effect so i did it twice more." What the CCTV shows: PC Mulhall was being assisted in controlling her by a security officer. In his statement he says that it was after he struck the blows that a member of the door staff arrived. 2.19.44 PC Mulhall: (After saying that she resisted having her hands put into cuffs) "I now struck her as hard as I was physically able in an attempt to deaden her arm in the bicep and upper shoulder area so that she could be restrained again. There was no visible effect and in the end I had to use brute force." What the CCTV shows: Other officers now on the scene including two policemen and what appear to be two security men. PC Mulhall appears to land at least five punches, followed by another man apearing to place his foot on her throat. 2.20.36 PC Mulhall: "The female was brought to her feet at which point she began to kick out at both of us." What the CCTV shows: This is where she appears to be limp and having difficulty in standing. 2.20.50 PC Mulhall: "She was conveyed to the back of a police van. As tgis was done her trousers fell down. In an attempt to protect her dignity attempts were made for them to be pulled up but she again lashed out at officers with her feet, knees and legs." What the CCTV shows: She appears to be dragged in a limp state with her trousers round her ankles.

I stand by what I said in the first place. Violent instigators should be responsible for their actions and the consequences. I think that generally but it is not the way it works...and football provides so many examples. Liverpool player grabs Scholes, nearly tears his shirt from his back. If the referee blows up straight away and sends that player off no problem. But no. He delays. Scholes gets cheesed off at being blatantly fouled, turns round, starts to aim a blow, changes his mind but gets sent off. Result. The innocent party gets punished instead of the instigator. I've never understood it. There would be no consequences without the initial action. Yet the law has to make things complicated. There is talk about proportionate response but if people don't provoke responses with their violence in the first place there'd be no need to judge the degree of response.

The Reverend Posted 8 March 2007 Posted 8 March 2007 I agree, get the taser gun out and blast away. Racism? Not at all. You see this is always what happens - coppers get someone whos broken the law and its racism. Pfffft If shes broken the law and needs to be restrained but cant be because shes trying to beat the coppers up what else can they do? Are they going to say 'ah well, its only a woman and we cant restrain her so she can go'? No of course theyre not. Its getting to a stage where soon coppers are gonna have to start saying 'right your black so you can go because you might sue us for racial discrimination' and its a ****ing joke. Makes my blood boil
Jon the Hat Posted 8 March 2007 Posted 8 March 2007 2.18.58 (They fall down the stairs together.) Given that we have a drunk woman and a sober Police officer, who eactly do we think instigated a fall down some stairs? The crap that the police have to put up with night after night is unbelievable. If you are stupid and drunk enough to attack an officer then you deserve what you get. Take some personal responsibility. She should be charged with assault and jailed.
Stuliasz Posted 8 March 2007 Posted 8 March 2007 Niche is one of the most horrible clubs in Sheffield anyway full of all the drugged up chavs.
OriginalRobboFOX Posted 8 March 2007 Posted 8 March 2007 How can she say with a straight face that she 'hopes the copper gets what he deserves....' She deserves what she gets, shouldn't break the law the silly cow....
Daggers Posted 8 March 2007 Posted 8 March 2007 How can she say with a straight face that she 'hopes the copper gets what he deserves....' She deserves what she gets, shouldn't break the law the silly cow.... My impressions are that she normally has a mouth full of coc, so I amazed she can say anything (she adores French cuisine apparently, especially that chicken in wine they do so well)
Leonisco Posted 8 March 2007 Posted 8 March 2007 For fook's sake, there is no way that this is racism - just cos she happened to be black and he happened to be white does not make it racist. He was trying to subdue an unco-operative criminal, simple as. It's her own stupid fault for messing with South Yorkshire police anyway, they're renowned for being rather more aggressive towards criminals.
