Daggers Posted 21 March 2007 Posted 21 March 2007 20p basic rate income tax! Too funny! Where does Dave now go? Huge investment in green issues AND lower taxes... Business, research, science and individuals all doing better including targeting for the least well off. My first impression is that the Tories are going to be pushed to come up with anything of substance to make them electable.

Leicfox Posted 21 March 2007 Posted 21 March 2007 David Cameron just had them and me in stitches. He's a funny guy.
Phube Posted 21 March 2007 Posted 21 March 2007 David Cameron just had them and me in stitches. He's a funny guy. What did he say??
Daggers Posted 21 March 2007 Author Posted 21 March 2007 So I get more money then Dave? Everyone gets more according to Gordy! ...and as for Dave's jokes - the most predictable collection of tired quips! That's all there is to his statement of reply, nothing else. So many Stalin references are just overkill, he's not identifying a single point from the budget - just continuing with his little preprepared monologue. Sad really. As I've said before, the country needs an opposition. It doesn't have one, it has a muppet.
Leicfox Posted 21 March 2007 Posted 21 March 2007 What did he say?? I can't remember word for word... He's just getting well stuck into Brown and blair and coming out with one-liners, the leader of the house had to step in numberous times.

Leicfox Posted 21 March 2007 Posted 21 March 2007 Bring back Poll Tax... much fairer IMO! Ciggies down £4 a packet imo.
Phube Posted 21 March 2007 Posted 21 March 2007 Ciggies down £4 a packet imo. You'd like Singapore airport... we bought some fags for the father-in-law. 200 Superkings..... £7!!!
Daggers Posted 21 March 2007 Author Posted 21 March 2007 I take it you don't like him or the Tories then Dave. It was funny. Not one of his gags were funnier than the self-deprecating material Gordy trotted out first, thus nullifying his points. That he didn't predict this and the writers didn't improve the material demonstrates how weak Dave is. That the BBC simply cut off from his reply in mid-flow demonstrates how weak it was. I think Dave is a twat of no substance ~ and the country is better off when he's sledging across the arctic. There's not one PMQ this year where he has come out of the exchange substantially up on Blair...and that is wrong as Blair (IMO) has been a leader desperately in need of control. I'm still waiting for the Tories to convince me they have changed from that party that raped the country in the 80's...and I've not seen anything yet that convinces me. Dave's riposte today even referred to the concept of trickle-down economics, the core of Thatcherism that has been roundly ripped to pieces in the decades since...and the economics that the USA is still paying for. I don't think the Tories have a hope in hell of winning the next election, and in the light of Gordy being such a strong character there continues to be a need for a dynamic and strong opposition.

Leicfox Posted 21 March 2007 Posted 21 March 2007 So I get more money then Dave? Just read this on other site.... 2p cut - just headline grabbing!!! Dropping the 10p threshold means hardworking minimum wagers earing about 12k a year are now going to have to pay an extra couple of hundred pounds tax per year. Do they think we are so stupid we'll not realise this? By scrapping the 10% band and decreasing the standard rate to 20%, anyone earning less than £14,000 per year will now pay more tax! Is this really a Labour government? Is that right??

Quote from that forum: 'The 4x4 tax has hit me hard. I have a Discovery because I have four young children. What else am I supposed to put them in? Don't tell me a people carrier as I want my children to survive an accident if they're ever unfortunate to be in one. I fear many drivers will now break rules and squeeze kids into the backs of cars or put them in the front with an airbag. Well done Mr Brown, their blood is on your hands.' Sorry, I don't rate a forum as a source...it's just a load of Tories flooding a main news site in an attempt to influence public opinion. When I hear an authority on the subject state those opinions then I'd listen...and there's still been no one on 5live stating that position.
Manwell Pablo Posted 21 March 2007 Posted 21 March 2007 I am now very confused to whether I am better or worse off. Whats the removal of this 10p thing ?

Manwell Pablo Posted 21 March 2007 Posted 21 March 2007 I think I'm worse off. Boll ocks. Ermm is that a guess?
Mort Posted 21 March 2007 Posted 21 March 2007 20p basic rate income tax! Too funny! Where does Dave now go? Huge investment in green issues AND lower taxes... Isnt a real tax cut though! Its made up by letting tax go up in other areas... doesnt take away from the fact that Brown and Labour are electoral poison (poll rating for Labour are worse when their linked with Brown than Blair!). When I hear an authority on the subject state those opinions then I'd listen... Your trust Gordon Brown as an "authority"... coz of course Brown doesnt have any kind of vested interest here
Master Fox Posted 21 March 2007 Posted 21 March 2007 I am now very confused to whether I am better or worse off. Whats the removal of this 10p thing ? It averages itself out, you'll be no better off or worse off
