BartonFox Posted 2 April 2007 Posted 2 April 2007 39 of the 52 league goals we have conceeded have come in the second half. Laugh or cry
dandannieldanok Posted 2 April 2007 Posted 2 April 2007 I'm pretty confident the half-time talk will be about damage limitation.
Steven Posted 2 April 2007 Posted 2 April 2007 39 of the 52 league goals we have conceeded have come in the second half.Laugh or cry Even stranger in that we have a better record if the opposition score first.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 2 April 2007 Posted 2 April 2007 Even during the promotion season under Adams, we rarely played well for 90 minutes. The number of times we were awful in the first half, went in level and then bollocksed the other team during the second half ran into double figures I'm sure. Then of course it was the other way round the following season in the Premiership.
blue blood Posted 2 April 2007 Posted 2 April 2007 Im going to bang on about it again, lets not look to deeply into the reason, its the lack of fitness. simple.
Thracian Posted 2 April 2007 Posted 2 April 2007 39 of the 52 league goals we have conceeded have come in the second half.Laugh or cry Confirms everything people have said about fitness levels but also about concentration levels and changes made to the team. It seems inevitable that changes will be made these days but I often wonder why and rarely see the point if a team is functioning well. The Under 21's v. Over 21's is a different exercise, of course.

The Under 21's v. Over 21's is a different exercise, of course. The ability to maintain concentration comes with fitness levels as well, or it certainly helps. This reminds me of the Bassett era when we'd do alright until half time then that idiot would perplex the troops with his unique brand of bull shit. Now it seems that Kelly has developed his own unique brand of coaching that is so great
Jordan Posted 2 April 2007 Posted 2 April 2007 Im going to bang on about it again, lets not look to deeply into the reason, its the lack of fitness. simple. If that's true, then that's pathetic and there's really no excuse.
blue blood Posted 2 April 2007 Posted 2 April 2007 If that's true, then that's pathetic and there's really no excuse. it is true football is not rocket science its football, 11 V 11 (usually) and the stronger fitter team will on average be the better team its not that hard. when we are seperating the best of the best then pther factors come into it but we are not its the second tier of english football.
The People's Hero Posted 2 April 2007 Posted 2 April 2007 That's a good post. Getting the players fit, motivated and organised will sort us out to an extent, then we need better players to take us on. Even without making any signings though you could make this lot in to a good unit just by getting them fit and able to do the simple/basic things correctly. A half decent boss would do that. This one will just smile inanely and chat shit.

Too many not willing to rock the boat, why

I think the players have been found wanting not because they are not good enough but because they are not fit enough.
Koke Posted 2 April 2007 Posted 2 April 2007 Even stranger in that we have a better record if the opposition score first. So if Derby scores first on Friday, its a blessing in disguise.
Scow Posted 2 April 2007 Posted 2 April 2007 So if Derby scores first on Friday, its a blessing in disguise. If Derby score first on Friday, we're fooked.

Sorry but if people are still claiming it wasn't obvious against Preston and Southampton last season and the first 2 games of this season they they are fooling themselves. Kelly should have been hounded out the Club back in August, and I mean hounded, I still find it hard to believe that the vast majority accepted those performances
Asha Posted 3 April 2007 Posted 3 April 2007 This has always been the case especialyl thinking back to the last time we were in the premiership. We always concede in the second halves of games but referring back to the sub-topic 'if we haven't run up a few goals by half time' what about the away game at wolves, and countless other away games where we had advantages and threw it away.
OriginalRobboFOX Posted 3 April 2007 Posted 3 April 2007 For some reason I have a feeling by half time we'll be 2-0 up. But then, in typical City fashion we'll let them nick two in the first 5 of the second half, then we'll get another, then they'll score two in last ten and we'll all be saying once again, 'how did we lose'??? A lot similar to lets say... Wolves away a few seasons ago...
Guest Posted 3 April 2007 Posted 3 April 2007 Perhaps we should try harder. Doubling our efforts on the playing field etc. And that's just for starters, they are a smashing bunch of lads don't forget.
Bluefoxtim Posted 3 April 2007 Posted 3 April 2007 We all see Sky Sports news.. get some powerade flowing through the players veins.
The People's Hero Posted 3 April 2007 Posted 3 April 2007 Isn't it worrying though that it has taken the majority 39 league games and the whole of April last season to work this out?Too many not willing to rock the boat, why Because most people think that being a 'good fan' is about paying your money and then clapping for 90 minutes and then going home.
MBK Posted 3 April 2007 Posted 3 April 2007 Perhaps we should try harder. Doubling our efforts on the playing field etc.And that's just for starters, they are a smashing bunch of lads don't forget. Can anyone make a collection of Kelly quotes since he took over?

Simon Posted 3 April 2007 Posted 3 April 2007 Can anyone make a collection of Kelly quotes since he took over? I'm sure that wouldn't take long- we get the same half dozen recycled...
Silly Fox Posted 3 April 2007 Posted 3 April 2007 This conceding goals in the 2nd half could be because of a number of factors...............but primarily I think we are paying the price for having a small, inexperienced squad. Over the course of the season, the amount of matches will have a far bigger impact on us than say Birmingham - we have c18 outfield players of first team ability (moot point I know). They are bound to become jaded, mentally tired if not physically and I think that's why we're leaking 2nd half goals
