Yorkshire CCC out of the D2 Championship race after the CDC handed out a £400,000 fine plus immediate 48-point deduction in the 2023 County Championship :appl:

The points deduction for this year’s Blast is a bit of a cop out though.

I just saw that!

How on earth does that work, retrospectively, when the entire tournament has already been completed?!:dunno:

With most of the fine suspended it basically amounts to a 100k fine and a couple points penalties for a competition that had finished and one they had little hope of doing anything in this year anyway.

Goes nicely with the 6 month suspension of hosting tests during which...oh no tests where scheduled anyway.

Am I correct in saying that only Ahmed and Parkinson will be missing for the RLODC for that tinpot tournament?

(And I wonder if they will allow those not selected in a match day squad to return to their clubs to play as they have with Potts and Tongue against us…)

Rahane not coming, Handscomb staying on.

At least they planned fairly well for the overseas not turning up this time, as good as Handscomb has been this is still piss poor really

Starting from this season, yes they do. Though I think it’s two match day squads they have to miss out on. Hopefully someone will correct me if I’m wrong.

Tbf Handscomb deserves a medal. Always been second choice overseas but given 100%

Not they don't do that in the hundred unless the rules have changed this year

Just seen your post that's good news then may have Parky for a few games then he rarely plays in the hundred

I know a couple of Indian lads who brought  memberships purely because Rahane has signed. He would have been the biggest name to play for the County in years hugely disappointing

Think he is available, it’ll be interesting if they play him.

I reckon he'll play during the comp itself but we might not see him today. If we can get something like:

10 overs from Wright

10 overs from Mulder

10 overs from Ackermann (only spin option?)

That leaves 20 for perhaps Scriven and one or two others to fill in. Hull and Walker would be my choices initially with an eye on the future. So 6 bowling options with Kimber capable of throwing in a few overs too.

I wonder if now that Nico is gone we might see Scott Steel again? When he was picked he generally batted ok in both white ball comps and he's also a reasonably handy spin option which might be useful without Parky and Rehan.

Well as much as we can agree on the ridiculousness of the County at times, today was all about the atrocious and mathematically dubious D/L system.

From the position where the game ended I would suspect it extremely unlikely that a minor counties team would go on and win that game.....even against Leics.

It’s Henderson that has an issue with Steel, not Nico.

Steel has better bowling figures than Ramji and is a good bat. It’s a shame that certain figures can’t bite the bullet here for the good of the club and involve Steel for the one day cup.

I've yet to hear Claude's name in a positive light since he came back. Seems to be overinvolved, has far too much power and very little clue how to run a county team.
