Hard work to lose from here now but Gloucs got all the cards.. can just decide to block out if they lose another wicket.

Match drawn.

105 points with 2 games to go, take into consideration the 16 point deduction, we've definitely progressed in the 4 day game.

gone backwards in one day cricket though. really hard to heap praise on them when they just replaced one no-win comp for another. near bottom of t20 again too.

Three new experienced batsman, might be more competitive in all formats if they all sign!

Dan Redfern appears to be fighting for a contract, performed pretty well in this game.

surprised Redfearn wasn't more involved this season on the whole. his batting is at least as good as Boyce's was and he can bowl too and a sharp fielder.

Well having a quick look on cricinfo, I have decided that the said three batsman are probably Dexter, Pettini & Horton. All average in the mid to high 30s and have been captains of their county sides.

Forget the 50 over game, no-one pays attention. Good signs of progress in what matters. Very impressed with Redfern, fighting for his future.

But what of Eckerlsey, apparently he's not signed what he's been offered. No doubt a talent but he's been woeful since May. Maybe he could be let go.

I disagree. There's 3 forms and the 50 over was probably our best chance of doing anything and we completely messed it up not picking best side. We were 1 game off the QF in it last year. Hard to get bums on seats if keep getting beat whether there's perceived progress or not, can't afford to disrespect competitions. The CC is where fans really don't care 1 man and his dog at most games.

1 man and a dog you clearly don't vist Grace Road very often always around 500 to 800 there

Agree with the second post.  CC is the competition that most cricket fans want us to do well in, regardless of the attendances anyway. They've even changed the majority of start days to Sunday to bring in more people.  As for the 50 over comp, you only play 4 home games so this was always going to be the loser and the format that we would try out youngsters in.  Loads of teams have used this as an opportunity to blood players over the past 5 years.  It's almost like the league cup.

The T20 is where our greatest hopes lie and the most cash comes in.  We looked really good at the start but the loss of players to associate internationals games screwed us.

Heard brad hodge may be joining the coaching staff. Lloyd tennant and ben smith more than likely leaving.

Think pettini may be one of the 2 other batsmen being muted, heard loads of rumours about Gordon Muchall from Durham as well.

Muchall got a poor record. Very similar to Boyce's really hope he doesnt sign!!

Seems the 50 over tournament could be completely scrapped. I think it should be an old fashioned KO Cup.

Would be very much in favour of this. Needs to have the minor counties and county board teams involved too. Cricket needs its equivalent of the FA Cup back to get people interested in 50 over cricket again.

preliminary rounds to get the 14 needed to stick into a round of 32 with the first class counties would be good

Yeah, definitely. I'd also favour an open draw (used to be seeded if I remember correctly?) to allow a better chance of progression for the minnows.

I don't think Ben Smith or Lloyd Tennant will be leaving. Not heard the Muchall rumour either. Horton has been mentioned. Dexter is a brilliant signing for us.
