Wellman Posted 31 January 2005 Posted 31 January 2005 looks like he had a good first touch on him ricey
Cat Burger Posted 31 January 2005 Posted 31 January 2005 Well Barry Ferguson was rated a lot higher than Hughes seems to be and look how he turned out, absolutely appalling! I guess 200k is not a massive risk though..
Oli Posted 31 January 2005 Posted 31 January 2005 I have seen this player a couple of times. I am really pleased we have signed him. He is similar to Williams. Going to be stiff competition for that attacking midfielder. Because we need to keep a holding midfielder in there.
Little Nicky Posted 31 January 2005 Posted 31 January 2005 Quality, I'm chuffed with this guys, the day gets better and better!
Louise Posted 31 January 2005 Posted 31 January 2005 Take a deep breath. Stat attack. With this new signing our average age is now: 26.8 (26/27) Of the players over 30 we have only Tiatto that is contracted for next season. We've got 17 players under 30 and 10 players under 25 (26 players in total). Keep in mind these stats also include players like Wilcox and Blake who probably won't play for us again and the future certainly looks bright.. (Ok, this post might just have interested Petrescu )
Teeno Posted 31 January 2005 Posted 31 January 2005 Bit early to start talking about what a great prospect Williams an Hughes is, when most of you probably have never seen him play Don't count out Joey, he has been one of out better players of late.
The Livingston Fox Posted 31 January 2005 Posted 31 January 2005 61359 A good addition to the squad.Done well for Rangers when called upon. Will be interesting to see the average age of the team come the start of next season.
MADLEVEIN Posted 31 January 2005 Posted 31 January 2005 61359 the only 20 pointer was work rate should compliment tiatto nicely and take a bit of pressure off him.
Guest Daniel Posted 31 January 2005 Posted 31 January 2005 Out of the blue, i nip for a driving lesson and come back to this. Jesus, the crazy world of Craig Levein.
BartonFox Posted 31 January 2005 Posted 31 January 2005 A positive step and excellent signing in my eyes. The fact he didn't figure at Rangers doesn't mean Jack Diddly as Rangers have a policy of only playing crap over paid overseas players. And Barry Ferguson. Very highly rated by rainer Bonhoff the Scotland under 21 coach and at the time it was suprising to see Berti Vogts and Tommy Burns didn't rate him good enough for the full team. We now know that probably means he is a star as those 2 couldn't pick a winner in a 1 horse race <_< .
JJ-AFC Posted 31 January 2005 Posted 31 January 2005 I'm a fan of his. I think you've signed a really good player there. P.S. The bird dragged me along to the Gillingham game last Saturday. Although Gillingham were gash you looked fairly good going forward. Like the stadium aswell. Very nice.

It was shite anyway so I'd have hated sitting in the pub watching my team play rubbish and lose to that mob.
Jonbluefox9 Posted 31 January 2005 Posted 31 January 2005 I hope he proves to be a hit but i'm not expecting him to be the new Muzzy. Players like Muz don't come round very often, he was a gem of a buy.
Scow Posted 31 January 2005 Posted 31 January 2005 From what I've seen of him, I think we have a good player here. I've seen him play 3/4 times for Rangers, and he seemed a decent player. I think he fits in nicely with the way Levein wants to play. We've played some good passing football recently, and he is someone who can certainly spread it about.
Nationwider Posted 31 January 2005 Posted 31 January 2005 This season's CM - Williams and Gudjohnsson... Next season's CM - Hughes and Kisnorbo ???
shen Posted 31 January 2005 Posted 31 January 2005 This season's CM - Williams and Gudjohnsson...Next season's CM - Hughes and Kisnorbo ??? 61525 4 people fighting for 2 places...ideal innit? and all below 30! Let's hope they can do the business too now
Cat Burger Posted 1 February 2005 Posted 1 February 2005 he is someone who can certainly spread it about. 61507 Less about your love life Mark! B) People - Champo/Footy manager never lies!!! I'm relishing seeing him play now, I'm hoping he's going to be a quality player in this division, but not sure signing SPL players is going to be beneficial to possible premiership survival..The success stories of homegrown scots going south of the border have been minimal in recent years.

Looking at his stats, they're not exactly impressive...not anyone I'd notice anyway. But CL has doen some good business here. Unless Hughes' contract was up this summer, it's amazing he got him for as little as 100k (initially) from a big club.
stulcfc Posted 1 February 2005 Posted 1 February 2005 i think its a good signing lets hope that we will continue are unbeaten run now and try and get to the playoffs
connolly19 Posted 1 February 2005 Posted 1 February 2005 This season's CM - Williams and Gudjohnsson...Next season's CM - Hughes and Kisnorbo ??? 61525 Does this mean Nalis will go in the summer? Nalis would certainly be adequate back-up but I'm not sure Levein would want to keep him.
Muz Posted 1 February 2005 Posted 1 February 2005 Im very happy with this signing. I can remember seeing him play against a lower league team in the tennents scotish cup. He looked to have good passing skils and was very lively.
Collymore Posted 1 February 2005 Posted 1 February 2005 why is our OS so slow? we havent annonced hughes as our player yet and the ranger site have already Changed the squad photo Here 61367 Still no mention, even on NEWSNOW
