So far, no complaints with the RM. My post woman turns up a bit late in the day for my liking but I suppose that's just her schedule.

To be fair to the old girl tho - you can pretty much set your watch by when the otter box flaps.

Our postie is a leggy blond with a pony tail who wears daisy duke shorts in the warm weather .

I think his name is Daniel :)

What are they, then?

My friend was next to his front door once when the sorry you were out card came through the door. So he opened up the door and said to the postman it's alrite mate I'm here. The postman then looked extremely uncomfortable and had to admit that he didn't even have the parcel. Said something about they have to fill a certain quota of parcels a day. The quota is unreachable sometimes so they just fill the cards out to make it look as if they've attempted to deliver it.

I dunno if this postman was dense or not because if you've still got to go to the door and deliver the note, how much time are you really saving. Maybe it's to do with not being able to fit them in the van etc.

So if you're in and you see the card by the door and think you must be going deaf because you haven't heard the doorbell, then maybe you're not.

I've also not had a problem with Royal Mail in years, at least they make the effort to find my address unlike DPD who can only find my address when they need to give me a card saying I wasn't in when I was.

My post usually arrives at around 2.30/3pm and up until we complained envelops/jiffy bags that looked like they had cards/gifts in would always have a little hole ripped off the bottom corner. CNUTS.

I get a fair bit off ebay, and a few have got lost. I even had a recorded delivery signed by somebody else, and I didn't get my money back! Blew my top!!!

The normal waiting period, has gone from seven to ten days now, or so I am told.

Recorded Delivery is only different to regular post in that a signature is taken at the point of delivery. It travels with the regular post & offers no increased security. Claims for loss or damage are the same as the regular post. It has as much chance getting to it's destination as sticking a first class stamp on it & whacking it in the post box. The only difference is that a signature will be taken when delivered.........so you can confirm it was delivered & they can't claim that it wasn't.

Special Delivery is expensive, but it is treated differently. It is tracked along it's journey & is kept separate from the regular post. It offers a guaranteed delivery date as well.

Despite the stories of lost mail, dodgy post men, etc, the vast majority of mail is delivered without any problems.

It all depends on how important those documents are to you? I think the cheaper option would suffice (Recorded Delivery) & you will be able to confirm delivery. First class with Recorded would do the same job, but you would not be able to confirm delivery. Special Delivery is expensive, but offers guarantees the other services can't.
